Whilst we're here talking about battle strategies, can I say how much I adore the Path of Solitude? It's a great way to test how much you know your Pokemon in a 1v1 fight tailored to give both a very good challenge whilst also being very doable if you play your cards right. The way the levels scale according to the Pokemon you pick is great as well and makes every fight feel surprising and exciting. It also gives a great incentive to keep using Grit items after the main game as well in order to beef up very weak mons into unstoppable killing machines (it's worked particularly well for mons like Budew, Finneon and Bergmite). And the fact you get a mark in the Pokedex after you've beaten it with any given Pokemon is just so good and provides so much replay value in wanting to get them all. I have about 27 Pokemon done already and can't wait to do more (plus anything to do with Ingo is fantastic in my book).
So I was fighting a Gastrodon on Ramanas Island trying to perfect Rowlet's dex entry. I was using Roost so I naturally wasn't paying that much attention. I look back to see the Gastrodon use Earth Power..... AND IT HITS ME. HOW!? Rowlet's part Flying! It shouldn't have done anything, right? Does anyone have an explanation for this? The Gastrodon's moveset was Water Pulse, Ancient Power, Mud Bomb and the aforementioned Earth Power.
I made an incredible observation while playing PLA there recently.
So, in the Crimson Mirelands, on the trail to where you fight Lilligant, you can find an Alpha Honchkrow there at night with a bunch of Murkrows around them. All of them will attack you without mercy if you alert them. However, if you defeat/catch the Alpha Honchkrow, the rest of the Murkrow will immediately stop attacking and run away as quickly as possible.
It's one of the best tiny details I've ever seen and it kind of encapsulates why I love Legends so much: every single Pokemon has details and habits you'll need to learn in order to effectively fill out their research tasks and this one here is my favourite example of that.
In other news, I also managed to catch a shiny Quilava. The difference? IT'S AN ALPHA. I somehow managed to get both a shiny starter AND and a shiny alpha all in one. I guess I'm not evolving it, huh? I mean look at this absolute loaf of a Pokemon!

Some time ago I found a shiny alpha stantler, out of all the pokemon with new evos, shinys's I like wyrdeer the least. But my 2 shiny wurmple boys make up for the stantler.
@Kermit1 I love shiny Wyrdeer personally: it takes the garish green from Stantler and tones it down considerably, leaving it as a more lime colour instead of being radioactive. The way they kept the horns and beard the same as they were before was a good call too since I always hated how Stantler's horns, one of the main points of it's design, turned the same colour as it's body when shiny, it made everything blend together too much.

I absolutely love how Stantler looks in this game. It was a Pokémon to which I was long indifferent (mainly because it didn’t have an evolutionary line and wouldn’t be particularly useful in battle), but just seeing it in the fields brings a smile to this curmudgeonly face.
And I quite like Wyrdeer too, but I feel that the “helper” Pokémon have diminished the novelty of keeping those same Pokémon on my team, especially as I have a shiny Sneasler and a shiny female Basculegion, and yet I’m still riding on randoms rather than my majestic shinies.
Porygon did nothing wrong.

PLA just shattered the record of worst selling main series game, beating BW by around 3 million units.
On the bright side my favorite pokemon game is no longer the worst performer.
You have to keep in mind that almost every other game there is bolstered by the fact there's two versions to get. For what it is, PLA has sold great, only being beat out in terms of singular games by Yellow. Is it the high seller we all hoped it would be? That depends on what you view as a 'high seller' when it comes to Pokemon but I feel like it is personally.
