Topic: Pokemon Legends Arceus

Finished Legends Arceus apart from fully completing the Pokedex and reaching 10th star rank so I'm done with the game unless/until DLC happens. Grinding level 10 research rank for each Pokemon would not be fun.

@Grumblevolcano Apparently the true ending is locked behind completing the pokedex fully.

@Grumblevolcano I'm getting to this point as well...just wrapping up the final few quests / sidequests.

As much as I enjoyed this game, I am concerned about longevity. Pokemon games are some of the most replayable games out there...but what is my motivation to repeatedly interact with the same Pokemon to 100% the dex, and what is my motivation to playthrough with another team (considering that Pokedex completion is the focus and battles are such a minor part of the game)?

Really do hope we get some DLC though. Just give me a new map and some new Pokemon and I'll be more than satisfied.

As far as I know, getting level research 10 with all the Pokémon only gives you the shiny charm. Which is very much optional and not necessary.

Don’t force yourself to go for it if you feel you’ve played enough.

Is it me or is it EXTREMELY easy to get shinies in outbreaks in this game? I have 20 already, it feels like alpha shinies are the new shinies

@inenai it’s not like… Completely ridiculously easy, since outbreaks have a limited amount of Pokémon and you need to waste time resetting them to reroll the Pokémon, but yeah it’s the best odds there’s ever been in any Pokémon game… Outside of Go, of course.

In general, since all the Pokémon in the map are generated as soon as you enter, and it’s really easy to cut the shiny odds in half (and further), it’s relatively easy to just go and find shinies randomly in this game, even outside outbreaks.

@Eel Ah, I was told you only get the true ending if you get to level 10 on all entries.

@VoidofLight nope, to battle Arceus you just need to catch at least one of each pokemon (excluding mythicals). No need to actually complete their entries.

@Eel Ah, alright! Then I'll just focus on doing that instead.

A nice detail I found out while looking for info on this, is that, even though you don't need any extra purchases to get the "The Sea's Legend" side quest, since the solution can only be found in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, Manaphy and Phione don't count towards the completion of the Pokedex, just like Darkrai and Shaymin.

Is it only me that thinks the Quilfish evo looks like a Splatoon baddie?

Has anyone found the best way to get distortions to spawn? I need to catch another shieldon (last I need to get everything to lvl 10) and can't seem to trigger any spawns.

Pretend like you want to do something else and they will appear to interrupt you.

@Eel I was walking around the Sandgem Flats looking for stuff to dig up with Ursaluna when, without any warning whatsoever, a distortion appeared right on my location and dead ahead of me was an Weavile, Onix and Alpha Ursaring. Suffice to say, I booked it out of there faster than Wyrdeer's legs could carry me.

Several distortions later and still no shieldon. Anyone willing to do a trade so I can finally move on from this?

@msm2000 I think the location of the distortion affects the chance of certain rare Pokemon appearing. I struggled to find any Shieldon and Cranidos but then found them easier when a distortion appeared near Bolderoll Ravine.

@DomGC I think for main series, the stuff that should cross over is the bigger areas, the overworld fights, the manual evolution button, the fact that there’s only one version, and in game alternatives to trade evolutions.

I still don’t think sword and shield is better than Legends, given how low quality it is in comparison, and how it pretty much only had linear hallways to walk down. It also lacked in content, only having raids and the battle tower, unless you pay for the dlc packs. The next game in the series needs higher quality models and animations like Legends, as well as better level design and more content.
