@Rodolfo6493 Yeah Mega's do attempt to fix a lot of bad shinies, although I don't know why GF can't just flat out change existing shinies anyway? Like what is stopping them making actual shiny Gengar white in Gen 10? I don't think anyone would be upset that their previous shiny Gengar will now be different.
@Bats1234 I caught a shiny Paras in Legends: Arceus and didn't notice the difference (I even thought the game was glitching). I had to place them side by side in the box to notice.
Last night I caught my first shiny in Legends: Z-A, a Bunnelby. If it weren't for the sound and the shiny effect, it would have gone unnoticed.
@Dom_31
ty for the reply, have progressed a bit more though a certain segment did make me wish there was more in the way of "dungeons" or other interiors/self contained areas since i remember in the yokai watch games those alleyway areas were some of my favorite parts (they had such a cozy vibe, wish the second game came to switch and got a western release on it)
am definitely curious about the DLC since i imagine it will add additional areas though do wonder what places they will be.
as it is am enjoying the game overall and it has put me in a pokemon mood again, maybe will finally get round to S/V since it has a switch 2 patch
@Jeronan The difference is the grind used to be collect all of the Pokemon in the Pokedex. Which involved exploration, evolution and various different methods. This is a repetitive grind that is just do the same thing 1000 times.
My complaint is that it's locked behind something boring, not that it's difficult.
Ok, so in the old games, running back and forth in that same tiny patch of grass for hours (sometimes days) on end isn't boring and repetitive? lol.
Not to mention, when you get the Shiny charm... what you going to do then?
Oh wait..... yeah we then go Shiny hunting and doing the same repetitive action for hours/days on end to get that shiny Pokemon.
I am sorry, but for me, doing Royale battles is more fun and I am getting some rewards, cash and other stuff at the same time, then running back and forth a tiny patch of grass endlessly to get that rare Pokemon spawn for my Pokedex.
In the end, the problem is that people want everything NOW! And any same activity you doing many times in a row, will become boring and repetitive no matter how you look at it. Be it running back and forth the same patch of grass endlessly or doing many Royale battles endlessly.
Take your time, take a break... do some other activities in between, to break up the monotone.
That's why I find it hilarious how people keep praising Legends:Arceus is like the best Pokemon game and at the same time trashing Legends:Z-A... while for me, Legends:Arceus was the very definition of boring and repetitive and never managed to finish the game. While with Legends:Z-A I am doing my second play through now.
I never said there was nothing repetitive in Pokemon before, but the idea that filling the dex is in anyway as repetitive as doing 1000 battles with a handful of trainers and a small pool of of Pokemon is ridiculous.
Just in case anyone hadn't seen - since this site has the details incorrect in their post - and were stressing about the Greninjite for this season, they are reworking it for the next season:
"You will now get the Greninjite at Rank Y and Delphoxite at Rank S with the new season" from Serebii.
@rallydefault You can roll in wild battles and rogue megas/boss fights. Just not trainer battles- which makes sense given that the moves don't deal damage to the player there.

I wish I had seen this sooner.
I played online for the first time last night. I reached rank K, but it was harder than I expected.
My Feraligatr doesn't have any decent water attacks, and my Delphox is slower than hell; only my Victreebel did well.
But it's great to know that the requirement for the next Mega Stones will be lower.
I hit A rank in ranked multiplayer so fast I have nothing left to play ranked for now. Silly to lock mega stones behind it anyway, but wish it actually had some more rewards and reasons to play it, it was over in three days for me.
Just here to say that after 2 great Legends games, if Game Freak ever makes a Legends game set in Alola, I won't be able to play it because I will be dead from exceeding the human limits of hype from the reveal.
"well it appears I am upside down. what ever will I do?"
Not really sure I have a favourite of the two. I'd say Z-A definitely has the better battle system, but I prefer Sinnoh/Hisui to Kalos overall and slightly preferred the exploration of Arceus.
TBH I just really appreciate that they've gone with vastly different settings for these two games - by default I would've expected them to just repeat the PLA formula with another region (i.e. create a pre-urbanised version of it), but I'm glad they experimented with the urban environment.
@Buizel Originally they were planning on making a Legends game set in Johto, and it was planned to follow pretty much the exact same premise PLA had with the whole "traveling back in time" plot.
"It is fate. Many have tried, yet none have ever managed to escape it's flow."
I'm almost glad they haven't done legends Johto considering how awful Arceus handled its premise. There's absolutely nothing interesting in that game apart from seeing how spear pillar became what it is in BPPt /Gen 4 and seeing cameos for old characters (and hinting at Gen 9's best character)
I don't want to imagine how much they'd butcher one of THE msot interesting places in the series.
In that sense Z-A is a HUGE win for me because it makes me care about a city that was awful in its original iteration and kind of made me like Kalos in general, haven't had the time yet but the game makes me wanna give Y another shot. Legitimately think that game is the absolute bottom of the barrel for me, only "beaten" by how broken and generic Kanto always felt, but that one has the benefit of being the first attempt.
Anyway...
I think the initial reactions to "grinding" ranked are pretty exaggerated /unnecessary. I hit rank A now and apparently I played the mode A LOT less than I anticipated.
36 battles in general, and "only" 17 wins among them. That's not even 2 hours of playing the mode and I won less than half of those matches with, apart from my final ten or so matches going from rank E to A (probably less), playthrough 'mons with zero good IVs and awful EVs lol
I would assume at least a dozen of my matches were me just throwing the heracross you get in the first hour of the game at people to reach rank K for the Greninjite.
I still think it's good that they made getting Delphox' stone much easier and that they give away Greninjite again right away. I wanna say the new stone is for reaching rank Y which probably means one match you don't even have to win, and the frog is won by reaching S or so. Which realistically translates to ten minutes of battling and doing whatever. At that point they might as well give them out via mystery gift, but they probably want people to play the mode at least a TINY bit.
@VoidofLight As much as I love Johto, I’m glad they didn’t do this tbh. At least not immediately after Arceus.
I know it’s been done to death, but seeing how they handled a city here actually makes me want them to revisit Kanto. Imagine them fleshing out Celadon, Saffron, Fuschia, Vermillion…
I finished the game last night. Great ending! I don't feel like my time with the game is over yet - still a lot of side quests to finish and Pokemon to capture. But the main story was a fun ride.
I think it's interesting how much it acts as a direct sequel to XY when those games are essentially inaccessible now (outside of the used market). With Legends Arceus, it was a super prequel, but you still had remakes of DP released relatively close to it. Not so for XY - Legends Z-A has numerous direct references to characters and events in XY, but there's not an easy way for anyone to experience those games today. I just find that interesting.
At the end of the day, it doesn't matter all too much whether you understand the references to XY or not because the story is perfectly intelligible without it, and honestly the gameplay is the real star of the show here. I really enjoyed the general gameplay loop, catching and exploring during the day and battling trainers at night, and I loved the mega evolution battles. Pretty awesome game - can't wait for the DLC.
I've supp'd for months on naught but broth of bean
