Topic: Nintendo Switch Lite Question About Joy Con's

Can joy con's connect / pair to a nintendo switch lite? I mostly use my nintendo switch lite on the go but do occasionally play it at night as well where I usually use my oled during morning / daytime on the big screen. Also is it better to buy official joy con's or cheap knock off joy con's to connect with nintendo switch lite? Watching video's on YouTube where people are saying name brand & knock off joy con's not much difference just in price but not game play. Little conflicted which way to go on this. Any help / advice much appreciated~ ✌️ Thank you in advance~ ✌️

@Barbiegurl777, Nintendo Switch Lite is not compatible with Joy-Cons.

Also, as for which kinds of Joy-Cons are better, only official ones can get free repairs.

Edit: never mind, they can actually be connected. Just not by rail sliding.

@Barbiegurl777 I don't have a Switch Lite, but it looks like you can actually pair joy-cons to it. Nintendo's support site shows you how to do it. (Just click on "Nintendo Switch Lite" to see the instructions.) It basically involves pressing the sync button on your joy-con(s) to get them connected. However, last I knew, the Switch Lite doesn't have a kickstand, so if you want it to stand up while you're playing, you may need a stand for it - they do make those upon looking it up.

On a side note, if you have one, you can pair the Switch pro controller to the Switch Lite as well. But yes, as mentioned, only the official Nintendo-made joy-cons can get free repairs if they start drifting. I've not used any third-party joy-cons so I don't really know about them, but do make sure they're from a reputable company - you don't want anything that's poor quality. If not, I'd say go for the official Nintendo ones, or a pro controller (which I personally prefer). Hope this helps.

Uhh okay. Yeah either January or Feb I plan on getting a pair of joy con's specifically for my switch lite because I have a few games that use the joy con's I want to more play on switch lite vs oled. probably getting knock off joy con's. The joy con's on Amazon & walmart are $80. I know there name brand but ridiculous price for controllers of all thing's. Hopefully they eventually come down in price at some point. 🤷‍♀️

@Barbiegurl777 Yeah, the official ones aren't cheap. Probably because of how advanced they are, since they have things like motion controls and HD rumble. Yeah, hopefully they'll go down in price at some point. If you can find a good alternative that's more affordable, then I'd say go for it. The only third-party joy-cons I know of are the Hori Split Pad Pro, if that helps. They do look different from the official joy-cons though, and they look more like the pro controller for example, just split in two like the joy-cons. So I'm not sure if that's what you're looking for. If it also helps, I've used third-party controllers from Hori and 8BitDo and I thought they were pretty good.
