At of all my games posted above (#1 through 61) what games are the graphic intensive games for the Switch that i have?

Right now I am playing Luigi Mansion 3 while docked and after about 45 minutes the console feels warmer I didn't know if Luigi mansion 3 is a graphic intensive game or not.

the other day I played Lego Jurassic wold and it was not as hot compared to Luigi mansion 3.

I was wondering if anyone could go through the list and see what games that makes the switch run hotter?

BOTW is definitely one of the games that makes the switch become hot. There won’t be any games that don’t make the switch hot (if so just a few). It’s like a phone- some apps (ones with lots of graphics/elements) will heat up the phone pretty fast while others may take a while. So, games like BOTW, AOC, Luigi’s mansion, etc will make the switch hotter just because it has to process more and use more energy than other games like jeapordy or something. It could also depend on what mode you are doing because some game modes (like mini games) would have less hear emissions than story mode or something.

Hopefully this makes sense and answers your question. Correct me if I’m wrong 😅

@SmashBall35 is kirby forgotten land a intensive game?

I heard that Luigi mansion 3 and Zelda breath of the wild are intensive games that makes the console run hotter.

I know some games are not intensive that won't make the switch run hotter than breath of the wild or luigi mansion 3.

I just don't know if kirby forgotten land Is intensive or not

@Tay205 Hm… I’d assume so- I haven’t been able to play it yet but from what it looks like it might. It will definitely not be as bad as breath of the wild and it might not even get too hot. I tried googling it but not much came up.. sorry 🫤

In my experience, no game pushes the Switch harder than Dragon Quest Builders 2.

@SmashBall35 ya. Thanks for the reply. I had heard of people having issues with the launch switch being bent due to it getting hot.

I also heard of people playing intensive games like breath of the wild over 6 hours straight without breaks and it overheated and displayed a message and turn itself off.

I play breath of the wild but I play for 1 hour than turn it off and undock it to let it cool then play again for Another hour just so they won't be any damage

My switch (animal crossing edition 2020) has no issues with overheating but I am trying to prevent any overheating as possible to prolong the console.

Tay205

@Magician is your switch the launch or the 2019 model?

@Tay205

I currently have an OLED, but when I played DQB 2 it was on a V2.

Tay205

@Magician thats good to know.

I know the launch model had a chip that any intensive game I played like breath of the wild it ran hotter

When I played breath of the wild on V2 it runs a little cooler

So I am curious what games makes the v2 hotter. I know some games don't make the switch v2 as hot as some intense games.

I am going through my games to see what makes the switch most hot so when I play the switch during the summer I know not to play some intense games during summer season

@Tay205

You should be fine as long as you don’t play for like 3-4+ hours straight. It’s good to let the switch cool down (and take a little break) but as long as you’re conscientious like you have been it shouldn’t overheat. I’ve had my switch since 2017/2018 and I haven’t had any problems, and my friends and I will sometimes play for 2-2.5 hours without stopping (we will switch games).

Tay205

@SmashBall35 cool.

I play like 30 minutes to an hour than I would remove the switch from dock (on sleep mode) and let it cool down.

I heard that the fan is only good for like 3-5 years (which only articles are saying computer fans so no clue about the switch fan)

I also heard the thermal paste can actually dry up with a lot of heat within 4 years

I am trying my best to avoid overheating and keep the switch working normally long as possible

Tay205

Tay205

@SmashBall35 good news. I played Kirby and the forgotten land for 1 hour in docked mode.

The console didn't even got hotter than Luigi mansion 3 which is excellent.

The graphics on the game looks better.

I believe Nintendo used the upgraded graphic technology that they are using for the Nintendo switch sports.

But I would still recommend to play for 1 hour in docked than leave it switch on sleep for a few minutes to cool down in between sessions

That’s really nice!! I wasn’t expecting kirby to get as hot as others, but it’s nice to know it doesn’t overheat too fast.

True. It would probably help it last longer. Sometimes I loose track of time!! XD

Tay205

@SmashBall35 what do you mean by it will probably last longer? Do you mean the fan or the lifetime of the switch?

Tay205

SmashBall35

@Tay205

Just the switch in general. Because if it does overheat too much by chance, it could also damage the internal components including the motherboard. That would decrease the lifespan of the switch and damage it.

Tay205

@SmashBall35 that's good to know.

I play my switch 99% docked but only play an hour at a time and let it cool down then play for another hour.

Within 4-6 years from now I may need to replace the fan and the thermal paste but I don't want to do it for a while.

I wish Nintendo would use a better thermal paste. But they use really cheap paste that won't last a long time and that is why it overheats

Tay205

SmashBall35

@Tay205

Ok. That’s a good idea.

4-6 years is a long time, and by that time there will probably be something else you’ll need to replace or a new console will come out.

Ikr. It is kinda annoying.

Tay205

@SmashBall35 well in 4 or 6 years if the fan goes out of the switch or the battery I could always replace the fan, battery and thermal paste and it should be good.

Every 4-6 years I may have to keep replacing the fan and thermal paste (and battery only when it needs it replaced) and it may last longer than 4-6 years

Tay205

SmashBall35

@Tay205 That’s true. And I think they (might) fix that stuff for free

Tay205

@SmashBall35 I am actually going to let a 3rd party repair (Not Nintendo) to fix it if I have to get it repaired

I can replace the fan but I am not good at replacing the thermal paste
