The thing that makes me curious the most is that we don't even know at what they're working on, meaning it can be something really huge on the IP side of the story
I'm almost certain that whatever Retro's working on is neither DK nor Metroid. It's probably either another revivial of a different IP or a completely new IP made by them.
@Bolt_Strike Completely agree, and in this case i would really like to know which SH will make next Metroid that Reggie in someway hinted in a recent interview

To add to what @FragRed is saying, I wouldn't count on too many of those games coming. I do actually believe there will be a number of major titles (Assassins Creed and Call of Duty type stuff) but beyond that, more Japanese games than western. Your Tales games, your SMT games, your Dragonball games, etc. I wouldn't put Final Fantasy or Kingdom Hearts out of the question, either. Especially given Square Enix's support, Cloud amiibo still MIA and KH being on GBA, DS (2 entries actually) and 3DS, and the 3DS entry sold around 1.6 mil iirc.
If western AAA is a primary focus for you, I'd advise owning a 2nd console to satisfy those needs though. That's what I do, although I have very little interest in the western megabudget games aside from Bioware (Mass Effect). All that Rockstar open world stuff just.... no. But ya, Nintendo systems tend to have their own flavor, and western megabudget games definitely isn't part of it.

Smash port (Fall 2017)
Pokemon (Holiday 2017)
Metroid (2018)
I wouldn't be surprised if they hyped a new IP coming this holiday
I also think they'll announce support for video streaming apps (Netflix, Hulu, Etc.)
Pikmin 4 seems very likely, and there will be a animal crossing no doubt but not at E3. Also Metroid will prob come to switch because Reggie has said he wants one on the switch, but I can't see it coming in 2017

I don't remember him saying that, have you got a link? He did make a mention about people need to just wait for stuff like Mother 3, Metroid etc which isn't the same thing tho.
People are reading too much into Reggie's comments. He didn't make any promises about Metroid, he just said ask again in a year. I do think we SHOULD see Metroid, but IDK if we WILL, it's hard to say when or if they're working on Metroid.
I sense that if Nintendo don't show Metroid at E3 there'll be riots. But if they do show Metroid there'll be riots because it's not exactly what people wanted. Basically no matter what happens, good or bad, people will riot.

I think they'll show a trailer of games coming in 2018 and beyond but I doubt we get much, if any, information on them. I'd think those games will include: Metroid, Donkey Kong, Animal Crossing, and Pokemon.
They'll probably announce ports for Smash Bros and Mario Maker. I'm thinking Smash will be released in October, and Mario Maker will be early 2018.
Focus will be on games releasing in the 2nd half of 2017.
Pikmin would make any direct or similar event an automatic win in my book. But they really need to spend E3 telling us how the switch is going to be ramping up cuz right now I'm convinced the only difference between it and the wii u is that the switch is lucky enough to be ready and releasing at a convenient time of when a Zelda game happens to be near completion.
I kinda think that Retro may well have been working on a new IP that is finished, ready to go, but due to Wii U's calamitous life it was never released and will be shown at E3 as a fall title. And then they'll do a teaser that's all like 'Metroid Switches!'
And that will come later, much later! Late 2018 earliest! And it will be huge! Like incredible! No mans sky on steroids! Oh, and also good... and playable....

Have actually wondered if Nintendo would do something like that with Metroid. Expand beyond just exploring a single planet, and make an open world universe that you travel around. Have a main storyline but add different side missions, contracts for bounties, etc for you to explore through the game.
