@Grumblevolcano There has been rumours/speculation about Kid Icarus, isn't there a studio working on an unknown game which some people think is that?

@Ninfan I agree they need to be developing new games, but they seem to aim for a new release each month, so a few remasters per year can help fill out the calendar.

Donkey Kong Country Returns
Still looks great and many assets from DKCTF could be used.

New Super Mario Brothers Wii
I'd add in the DS and 3DS entries too but the Wii entry - one of the best selling games of all time - would perhaps make the most sense. It might not even need a full remaster treatment - just a Mario Galaxy style up-res through Nintendo's emulator.

Luigi's Mansion 2
If we're looking at breakout 3DS games then this is an obvious one.

@kkslider5552000 not to mention that if they did well, it could be grounds for considering a sequel.

@StuTwo What about Luigi's Mansion from Gamecube? Now that I would get on board with for sure, especially if there was a collection of 1 and 2.

The Nintendo remakes/remasters that I want more than anything (and I think Nintendo will do it eventually) is for them to remake the original NES Super Mario Bros. games again, however this time with modern hand-drawn graphics, because we're now in an age where 2D games can look so incredibly beautiful. The original NES Super Mario Bros. games already got fantastic remakes on the SNES with Super Mario All-Stars (some of which were also ported to the GBA) with updated graphics and the ability to save, etc. and while of course I can appreciate good 16-bit pixel art, for me hand-drawn is just such a big improvement. In fact, here's a little collage I made to get the point across.

Gorgeous stuff. So basically I want the classic Super Mario games, but done in the beautiful, legendary Yoichi Kotabe art-style.

The SNES/GBA Super Mario Bros. remakes are great, but imagine having them look like how they always should have looked without the limitations of old hardware (which could only ever do a rough pixel approximation).

Luigi's Mansion is an interesting suggestion. I recently played through the original for the first time, and all of it in my opinion still holds up so well. Is there much more that could be done with the graphics without straying from how the game is supposed to look? The controls too are sound and don't need any tweaking, IMO. A remaster or a re-release?

As for Metroid Prime, the controls needed to be brought into the modern day for the game to realise a whole other level of potential IMO, which is what they did with the remaster. And the type of game it is, 3D with plenty of textures and landscapes, the graphics were always going to need a spruce up after 20+ years.

What I could get on board with is the second Luigi's Mansion redone for a home console, which was released for a handheld. I've played and finished the first (Gamecube) and third (Switch) of the series, but never laid a glove on the second one due its release on the 3DS handheld - I never owned one of those and couldn't justify the cost all for the one game I was interested in.

I can't be the only one in this boat. Seems a shame I haven't experienced the full trilogy yet.

I'd love to see The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time being brought to modern standards, but I also think it's wishful thinking. In fact, Metroid Prime Remastered is probably an anomaly in the grand scheme of things and a release that'll make future remasters likely disappointments.

. That is absolutely NOT wishful thinking, Ocarina of Time is the highest rated videogame ever made and there are millions of us who would love a HD Remaster, don't count on Switch though, if they are doing this it will most likely be on their next console, i think Tears of the Kingdom will be the Swan song for the current Nintendo Switch, the next console should be able to handle 1080p i would hope, this is 2023 afterall, Ocarina of Time 2024 YESSIR !!!!!!

i enjoy Mario Kart Double Dash and Cups of Tea !!!!

If they do remaster Luigi’s Mansion 2, please add more checkpoints. I quit playing it due to losing 20 minutes of progress when my character died from lack of checkpoints.

My feeling is that there are limited reasons why Nintendo would remaster Gamecube games:-
1. Cheap option to test interest in a dormant franchise - they could do what they have done with Advanced Wars for F-Zero, Star Fox etc.
2. To assist with the "relaunch" of a franchise (Metroid Prime)
3. A beloved title guaranteed to sell well (Wind Waker + Twilight Princess)

I think titles which are more iterative or part of an active franchise (sports titles, Luigi's Mansion, Mario Kart, Smash Bros. etc) are highly unlikely to be remastered, but are good candidates for a future Gamecube NSO service - if that ever exists.

Does that make any sense?!
