Assuming NX is a home console, I think these will be given HD remasters/remakes:
Skyward Sword
Nintendo has been very strong on the concept of avoiding the mass production of HD remasters that the other 2 console creators are guilty of and I think Nintendo will do the same thing with the NX as they did for Wii U. Nintendo have only really used them as apologies for the main game being largely delayed and that has only really happened with the Zelda franchise (Wind Waker was used because of long Zelda U development time, Twilight Princess is happening likely because Zelda U is moving to NX).
I would be really surprised if they didn't rerelease Sm4sh, Mario Kart 8, and Splatoon(as "Definitive Editions") to the NX, among others, and I'd think it'd help the consoles launch if it did.
I don't think we're getting those and I don't think that would be a smart move either. Re-releases of older games definitely lessen the impact of Mario Kart 9, Smash 5 and Splatoon 2. Since those games seem to be more of the ''one game per generation'' type, I don't think they're necessary either. Their sequels are probably already in development too, so there's no reason to launch their new console with those games.
Oh, another game that needs a huge update is RBY. The game has aged terribly and the limitations of the GB really show themselves even as we've already revisited Kanto in GSC, FRLG, and HGSS. Kanto needs a dex expansion, huge changes to the region design and new areas, and a much more fleshed out storyline that amounts to more than "Team Rocket is doing bad stuff, go stop them!".

It would be interesting to revisit Kanto, but with a new spin on it. Perhaps another starter town and new characters? Some geographical changes, dex update, fleshed out story line, etc.

That just sounds like you want a new game lol
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...
@DefHalan: Yes, I guess so. I've played Pokémon ever since Red came out, and I'd like to revisit Kanto with an expanded region, dex and set of characters. So this was probably the wrong place to mention it. I'm going to end up buying an eventual Kanto remake whatever they do with it, but I'd prefer drastic changes over sticking to the same plot and dex.
They should do an HD remake of SNES StarFox. Leave everything intact except updated graphics and orchestral soundtrack like what they did for Mario All-Stars from NES Mario games.
Also, there can't be downgraded elements cough ToS Chronicles cough
Just out of curiosity --- what did you find was downgraded in ToS Chronicles? I found everything to be either the same or an improvement, except maybe that the Gamecube controller was much more suited to the battle system than the PS3 controller.
I think when it comes to remakes/remasters I like a bit of each extreme. If they're gonna do a proper remake, I'd like quite a few new things added featurewise, or would like gameplay to be refined (especially if it's been improved on later in the series). Otherwise I'm quite happy with remasters --- some games could just do with porting to the latest console and a bit of a touch-up (e.g. at HD upgrade), perhaps only getting a digital release like the 3D classics.
It runs at 30 fps. That's pretty much a dealbreaker for me in a high action game that was originally 60 fps.
Currently Playing: Steamworld Heist, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Tales of Graces F

That's actually because the ToS used in Chronicles is the PS2 version that had all the extra new content, at the downside of having the framerate cut in half due to weaker hardware. Dunno why they didn't fix it to run at 60 tho for the PS3 remaster.

I know why it was 30fps. But that is a TERRIBLE reason for a remake/remaster to run at a lower framerate than it's original version.
The true reason was that Namco was lazy, and ToS Chronicles is a lazy cash-in.

Purely on the basis of graphics, yes. But if there's something they can do to improve the gameplay in a newer game, by all means remake it. There's a couple of games at this point that could use an update, so it's not as if I don't want newer games remade, but we don't need HD remasters just for the sake of them being HD.
Again I suspect I agree with you on everything other than where you draw the line. Even just thinking about texture quality, ten years ago we're talking about a time when a PC with 256MB of VRAM was seriously high end. When the 360 and PS3 launched that became that standard. So games built before then or exclusively for hardware that was well under that spec? They're all well behind even that standard.
The current standard is closer to 2GB of VRAM and even the Wii U gets fairly close to this. So when I boot up GTA 5 and run it at its lowest "360 spec" settings? Even that is quite an improvement over the texture quality in Vice CIty. But when I turn it up to high and the "2GB" spec? It's amazing. Going to Very High? At 1080p it's hard to tell unless you're looking. Even on just that measure, sign me up for remakes of good 10 year old games that can take advantage of this.

Hoping Super Mario Sunshine will be remade for NX.
Some random dude on Nintendo Life.
Toriel left for a while, so Freaky Fred took over her place!
Not changing this part of the signature until Nintendo announces Super Mario Sunshine 2.

Hope they remake Super Mario Sunshine like they did with Mario 64 Ds. those zelda remakes were pretty lame
Mario 64 DS wasn't a good game in my opinion, the controls didn't work like they should've and there was no reason to include all those other characters other than to make it ''different'', it just didn't work.
Yeah, I'm hoping for a Mario 64 DS style remake of Sunshine too. Playable Luigi and Wario on Isle Delfino? How cool would that be?
As for Pokemon remakes... this is gonna be an endless loop now, isn't it? We'll see Pokemon Red and Blue remade for a second time, then Diamond and Pearl remade, then Gold and Silver remade for a second time... ad nauseum until in six or so years, we end up with a second remake of Ruby and Sapphire as well as the first remake of X and Y.
Given Nintendo and Game Freak don't just ever rerelease the games on Virtual Console... that's one hell of a money making scheme.
I too would like a SM64 style remake of Sunshine. Though I'd honestly just want something Sunshine-related PERIOD. Also, seeing as how SM64 DS had 4 characters, assuming they'd go that route with Sunshine, who would the 4th character be? It couldn't be Yoshi. So...Waluigi?
There is nothing here...except for the stuff I just typed...

This honestly wouldn't surprise me if this happened. Most Pokemon fans also prefer the older generations, and some don't like Generation VI, including me, so I understand why all of the remakes are happening. It's actually quite a smart plan by Nintendo, but it can't last forever. Hopefully they'll come up with something soon that everyone will like and keep Pokemon going as a wonderful series.

I agree that the controls were hard to get used to. In fact, I played the side minigames more than the actual game! lol XD The game itself still had some great moments, though. I was still quite young when I got this game, so I remember enjoying quite a bit, I do remember the controls frustrating me from time to time.
As for Sunshine, I just want something related to it, whether a remake or a sequel. Either would be okay, but at least put Luigi into the game, Nintendo! XD
@CM30 Right. Also, I'm curious about how'd they be different from each other. FLUDD kinda makes this a bit hard in that it's the game's main mechanic, and stuff like the Hover Nozel makes the idea of Luigi's flutter jump a bit redundant. And the fact that you can't punch things like in 64 kinda makes it harder for Wario, given his strength. Or perhaps they could do something like make Mario the only one that uses FLUDD?
