Obviously, we can tell Skyrim is coming out on the Switch. With this in mind, it could mean that Bethesda has a bright future working with Nintendo. Fallout on Switch, DOOM on Switch, man do I get excited at the thought of it! Share your thoughts and speculations here about what the future is for Bethesda and Nintendo.

Here's my speculation: Skyrim Switch won't sell very well, due to Skyrim fatigue and the fact it will probably cost £30-40 on release.

Bethesda will be like "**** you, Nintendo" and we'll never see another Bethesda game on Switch.

Their partnership there is exciting. Obviously their VR games and their titles this year won't come to the system, however many of their titles seem perfect for Switch. Though Prey, Wolfenstein 2, and The Evil Within 2 are missing this year, I feel like those titles could do well on Switch and have a fair chance to be ported in 2018. Fallout 4 could come to the system if Bethesda the studio overhauls the engine it's running on, which is a big ask but something they're going to have to do eventually.

Skyrim is a good start and probably the best single title in their offering, but I'd like to see more from them make its way over. After all Fallout 4 has some beautiful levels, and the Switch is in need of horror and first-person shooter games like the kind Bethesda is offering.

Don't hate me because I'm bnahabulous.

YES!!!!
I can't wait to have Skyrim on Switch! I'd like a lot to have Doom 2016 too, I'm playing it on pc and it is very entertaining! My biggest dream would be an Oblivion remake on Switch, with 3rd person view as good as in Skyrim! Oblivion is one of my favourite games ever I'm really excited about this, I love Nintendo and I always thought that one of the biggest flaw of their consoles was the lack of TES games.

fully agree. I think they will give us TES: Legends, TESO is to big (85 GB), and to high hardware requirements, maybe Wolfenstein: The New Order, after add lower resolution texture (and maybe putting on 32gb cardridge version for decrease the final price). And this is all.

Legends would be amazing on Switch. It's like Hearthstone if it weren't so unbalanced, random, and stingy in its F2P elements.

I think that Skyrim has potential to sell really quite well on the Switch - having never been on a Nintendo console, there's an untapped player base that could be tempted to pick up this game for the first time...and the hybrid nature of the console, coupled with the addition of motion control support, could be enough to help to convince those who have already played Skyrim to return to the game

As for Bethesda support going forward - I'm sure that, if Skyrim's sales are strong, they could make some of their other games work...but I think that one big factor, however, could be whether Nintendo allow mod support or not. Bethesda are big advocates of mod support in their games - if Nintendo show a bit of flexibility in this area it certainly wouldn't hurt their relationship - and could even help to strengthen their understanding and convince Bethesda to continue supporting the console going forward...Sony only allowed limited mod support in the PS4 version of Skyrim - Nintendo could really make a statement by taking a different approach (like they did by allowing cross-network play in Rocket League/Minecraft) - it'd be good PR if nothing else!

I've already owned two different versions of Skyrim myself - but I could be tempted to pick it up for a third time...there are already a few good reasons to do exactly that, but the addition of full mod support could just be enough to convince me

@gcunit Pretty much, well that and the Nintendo games surrounding it. Given Nintendo fans' general reactions to 3rd party games, a very popular comment around November will likely be:

"Why would I play Skyrim when I can play Breath of the Wild instead, especially with the new story DLC coming out soon (or already out)?"

This isn't speculation. This is eerie mystical premonition s**t dude. You are a clairvoyant.

If you actually read the comments on the thread with the E3 Switch Skyrim trailer people were jazzed about the added amiibo and optional motion controls in combination with never having been able to play the game on a Nintendo platform.

NaviAndMii

@Haru17 The motion controls are the big one for me - could add a whole new level of immersion to the game ..the ability to take it on the go with me is another big sell - if full mod support is confirmed, this could almost be the 'definitive console edition' of the game! (..for me at least!)

@Haru17 Release dates still mean a lot though especially as Skyrim's release date hasn't officially been revealed. Let's say for example the release date on Amazon is correct but BotW DLC 2 comes out a week earlier, people aren't going to want to pick up Skyrim on Switch even with the positivity at E3.

If Skyrim had been available at Switch launch, and for £30, I would have probably have let the hype win me over and bought it. That launch hype has faded now and we still don't have a release date. Add on an initial £42 price tag and....

Someone's gonna have to get busy hyping this for me is all I'm sayin'.

@LeRaposa The Switch edition might have mods - there hasn't been confirmation either way... (as far as I know!)

I'd like to have it as soon as possible, I'ìd have done crazy things to have it at Switch launch, but no matter what I'll buy it as soon as it comes. I have dreamed for so long of an Elder Scrolls game on a Nintendo console, and this one is going to be on a Nintendo console that can be used on the go!!!!! I'm like this is too good it can't be for real!!!! I have played it on PS3, then I bought it (for a very low price to tell the truth) on Steam too, I played it for more than 300 hours on the normal edition then they gave me for free the new Special edition and I already played it for more than another 100+ hours and I'm still playing and I hate playing on computers, I really, REALLY HATE computers (that's why I'd like so much to have a fully functional photo viewer app on the Switch by the way), really, I need to say it one more time I - HATE - COMPUTERS and I - LOVE - NINTENDO - CONSOLES that's more than enough to consider my copy of the game already bought

PS: I HATE, HATE, HATE computers. Sorry if that sounds like hate speech I just can't help it :/

Given Nintendo's stance on fan made content there's no way they would support mods.

LeRaposa

NaviAndMii

@LeRaposa Yeah, I mean, I'm not saying 'no news is good news' - rather 'no news is no news' - I'll believe mods when I see them, but I won't be getting my hopes up until I know otherwise...however, I would never have thought that Nintendo would allow cross-network play - they have though & it's happening - so we live in hope!

@Grumblevolcano Yeah, but they'll be done with the second DLC by the time Skyrim releases, like I finished the first in a day Anyway, Skyrim is a really friendly game to jump back into, and a very necessary time sink for a system that really only has those in multiplayer forms until Mario (which we still don't know the length of) and the other RPGs come out.

@NaviAndMii I agree, if the motion controls + rumble feel satisfying to use they could be a really new way to play a big RPG. It's especially suited because Skyrim uses a dual wield combat set up just like the parted Joy-Con would suggest. Make no mistake though, Nintendo won't allow mods on their platform.
