Scrolling through a list of best N64 games, I kinda forgot how much reasonably interesting stuff there is. In addition to the obvious stuff there's also Diddy Kong Racing, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Rayman 2, Rogue Squadron, Wave Race. Some stuff worth revisiting there for sure.

Side note, if GB/GBC does come to NSO I wonder if they'll add the GB/N64 transfer pak? Pokemon Stadium maybe? Mario Tennis/Golf? And along the same lines, N64 DD maybe? I mean it was Japan only but so was Sin and Punishment so maybe? Then again, it'd basically just be Mario Artist so they'd be better off just putting out Mario Paint on the SNES NSO app

They never added Transfer Pak compatibility to any of their N64 re-releases (Mario Golf, Mario Tennis). They just omitted it every time.
And since Pokémon Stadium came with the Transfer Pak included and Pokémon Stadium 2 heavily relied on it as well, I doubt we'll see those, even though they were the first mainline Pokémon games for home consoles, unlike Pokémon Snap and Pokémon Puzzle League which were just spinoffs.
The only way to make a good version of Pokémon Stadium is if they include the Game Boy games Red, Blue, and Yellow for Stadium 1 plus Gold and Silver for Stadium 2. I personally think the Stadium games deserve that treatment. And so do Mario Golf and Tennis.

I also wish for F-ZERO X to get the 64DD Expansion Kit added. That's a dream I had since I was a kid.

So now that we know that consoles not made by Nintendo can come to Switch Online, what do you guys want to see? I'd personally go for the Saturn, Playstation (unlikely but still), or the Turbografx-16.

I am a piece of bread, and I love playing 3D World.
The Switch is one of the best consoles ever.
I'm guessing people will make a lot of jokes about my username.

It took them like a billion years to bring Pokémon Red and Blue to the 3DS, we're not getting Stadium in our lifetimes lol.

Unless they go the extra mile and let us “attach” one Game Boy Pokémon game to each controller, it would be like getting half the game.

I’d pay extra to have each game boy game unlocked as dlc. @ the hidden Nintendo ninjas.

@Octane @SKTTR
Well Gameboy coming to NSO is heavily rumoured and they have put more effort into NSO than they did the VC. I don't think it's that out of the question. Could also explain why Mario Tennis and Mario Golf are on the service so early and why they left "further details" for the service to be explained at a later date. I mean what more is there to announce other than price?

Also we know how big a draw Pokemon is. If there was ever a title to draw people into NSO and potentially the expansion pack it'd be Pokemon. Drop the Pokemon games on the NSO free tier, put Pokemon Stadium on the Expansion Pack. People would buy just for that.

I wasn't expecting Nintendo to bring N64 to NSO so soon.

So last year I picked up Super Mario 64 (for DS), Zelda OoT and MM for 3DS for my 2DS.

LOL.

But for anyone without a 3DS or 2DS, this is a great way to gain access to some very pivotal games in the Nintendo library!

@NintendoDad 4 years into the system isn’t really soon but I know what you mean. I thought they were saving Nintendo 64 for their next system

TBH I was hoping they'd bring out a Nintendo 64 Classic first! LOL.

I'm just worried about 3rd party games. There's a decent chunk of games they could presumably get on the service but it feels like they just won't for whatever reason.

Like let's assume anything on the Switch already (barring the now unlisted Mario 64 on All Stars I guess) or a licensed game or M rated is off limits (I'm making an assumption here, but I feel this is correct). There's still, AFAIK:

-Bomberman 64
-Bomberman 64: Second Attack
-Bomberman Hero
-Harvest Moon
-Ogre Battle 64
-Chameleon Twist
-Chameleon Twist 2
-Mischief Makers
-Quest 64 (lol)
-Glover
-Rocket: Robot on Wheels
-Space Station: Silicon Valley
-Gauntlet Legends
-Megaman 64 (I doubt it, but who knows?)
-Resident Evil 2
-Snowboard Kids
-Snowboard Kids 2
-Killer Instinct Gold
-Banjo Tooie
-Jet Force Gemini
-Blast Corps
-Rayman 2
-Castlevania 64
-Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness
-Ms Pacman Maze Madness
-Both Goemon games
-Wipeout 64

among other games

It seems like a solid list...but they put 2 3rd party N64 games on Wii and...2 3rd party N64 games on Wii U. I hope this time is different, but I have my doubts.

The two games I remember almost nothing about other than I liked them but didn't get very far are Jet Force Gemini and Mischief Makers, so I really hope they make it eventually. I would have said "absolutely not" for JFG until they confirmed Banjo, so that gives me hope. I have no idea what the odds for Mischief Makers are because I don't even remember who made it.

Mischief Makers was published by Enix and developed by Treasure. I really hope Treasure has the rights in that case, since SE has shown no interest in any re-releases that aren't on their own terms (and often over priced), and I doubt they even remember they published Mischief Makers.

@kkslider5552000 Wipeout is owned by Sony so that ain't ever happening. As for the rest on that list, it's really hard to say what Nintendo will get the licenses for. Also wasn't Resident Evil 2 M rated? I assume it was, but I honestly cant remember what age rating it even got over here in the UK so maybe not.

oh right

I wasn't thinking correctly, obviously you can scratch that one unless M rated games turn out to not be an issue.

I also thought Wipeout might've been Sony but I wasn't sure since Wipeout 64 exists at all. Guess that happened afterwards. That being said, Banjo is Microsoft so I guess...never say never.

The N64 was the sole Nintendo home console I never owned, so hopeful that this will give me the opportunity to try many titles I missed (already played the major heavy hitters).

@kkslider5552000 I think from what I understand, Sony purchased Psygnosis in 93 to make games for their forthcoming PlayStation but for some reason allowed them to operate totally independently which is why games came out on both the Saturn and N64 until Sony realised what was happening and decided to go full on mental and just close them down entirely as a publisher and leave the team to be a developer.

Which other SEGA systems could be added? I think Dream Cast + Game Cube will only be available if they add another tier.

Game Gear + GBA in the Expansion Pack?
Gameboy + GBC in Standard?

What about the Saturn? Sega Rally would be sweet.
