@MarioBrickLayer Saturn would be hugely problematic owing to how complex the architecture of the hardware is. It’s only recently that any decent progress is happening with emulation. May not be worth Nintendo’s resources to bother with.

GameCube makes more sense to just HD remaster the games and resell them like with the 2 Zelda games, Wind Waker and Twilight Princess.

And then the Wii and Wii u. It only took them 4 years for Nintendo 64 games

I'd bet money no console more powerful than N64 is coming until a Switch successor does.

I know many people have complaints about the subscription model but personally I think it's the best chance we have to get some of the more obscure games that wouldn't be able to attract an audience to an individual release.

One problem with the N64 is that the biggest third party supporter of the NES and SNES apps has probably been Capcom. We've not seen any Megaman games or Street Fighter (both hived off into their own collections) but we have seen Breath of Fire, Demon's Crest and Super Ghouls and Ghosts. All of those could potentially have supported decent collections with more than just super niche appeal... Unfortunately Capcom published very little on N64.

Konami - especially when you add in Hudson - has plenty of potential games. The Bomberman games that many are nostalgic for (but which ironically have terrible multiplayer modes), the Goeman games and Hybrid Haven. Even the N64 Castlevania games could be a possibility.

Some of the more obscure third party games they've got from minor publishers on the SNES and NES apps also gives me a bit of hope they might find some similar B-tier games from the N64. Stuff like Cameleon Twist, Spacestation Silicon Valley etc. The N64 did have some interesting and ambitious experiments - even if most of them haven't aged well.

Hopefully they bring back Mario Party 1-3/Smash 64!

I'd presume that Smash and Mario Party are being held back so as not to interfere with ongoing Switch releases in those franchises. Maybe we'll see them in a third wave of titles alongside Wave Race, 1080, Pilot Wings and some more Rare games?

I doubt we'll get too many third party games though. Most of the best ones will be mired in licensing deals anyway.

So far as the GameCube goes, we know that NERD developed a GameCube emulator that was used on 3D All Stars for Sunshine. However, given the technical limitations of the Switch, it's something that presumably takes a lot of additional work to customize to the requirements of individual games, so they're unlikely to be providing a flood of titles that way.

There's also the question of whether Nintendo could make more money out of selling such games individually than they would in terms of using them to drive subscriptions. If they went with the latter, I'd think that it would almost certainly entail a further price hike.

Things would get easier if they held off until the next generation of hardware, when a more generalized emulator might be possible. However, when that's happening is anyone's guess.

I know it’s kinda redundant now, but I’d also love to see the Mario Party games. I mean, at least 2 and 3.

As much as I like 1, I know that’s a no no for Nintendo.

I think someday Nintendo will bother to change those minigames controls in MP1 so that it can be re-released.

They reused many of the same mini games in MP2, even some of the offending ones, with fixed controls.

Then they went and used 2 as the token classic Mario Party to re-release.

After all, why waste time fixing 1 when 2 is close enough?

True, but its still not the same game, and it'd be a shame if it was actually never re-released.

Which other SEGA systems could be added? I think Dream Cast + Game Cube will only be available if they add another tier.

Game Gear + GBA in the Expansion Pack?
Gameboy + GBC in Standard?

What about the Saturn? Sega Rally would be sweet.

Master System is an easy one. I know it was basically non-existent in the US but in Australia it was pretty big and also in some other parts of the world. Not sure what the sales were but I know more people who had a Master System as a kid than a NES. Fairly sure it was about 50:50

There are only 3 Capcom games on N64: Resident Evil 2, Mega Man 64, and Magical Tetris Challenge.

I loved Bomberman on N64 just as much as on SNES and Super Game Boy (yes, I even had Wario Blast feat. Bomberman).
But I haven't played all four of the N64 ones. I know they're all very different from each other. The first one was the first 3D Bomberman with a meaty action/puzzle-adventure story mode and a very diverse set of fun and iconic four player arenas. Then, Bomberman Hero was a single player 3D action platformer. And the other two I never got a chance to play, but I know all four of them have great soundtracks, and with the JP-only one there's also a classic-style Bomberman present on the system. All four of them are good enough that I'd buy a full-priced HD collection! The only other Hudson Soft games I know on N64 are Mario Party 1 2 3, a fighting game called Dual Heroes that got horrible reviews, and Star Soldier: Vanishing Earth, a sequel to the NES/Turbografx vertical shmups.

Anyway, Konami put out a lot more. Besides their sports games of which International Superstar Soccer 64 is probably the most popular, I love Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon 1 & 2 the most. The first one from 1998 is such a great and fun game, in my book it's right up there with Ocarina of Time as one of the best 3D action-adventures made in 1998.
I think Hybrid Heaven has some value too, for being a very original and exclusive action-RPG, which holds true for Holy Magic Century (Quest 64) as well.
Obviously they own the N64 exclusives Castlevania 64 and Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness as well. Who wants them? I remember the title track giving me chills.
And looking through my collection I have two more games made by Konami: G.A.S.P!! Fighters' NEXTream also known as Deadly Arts, and Rakugakids, but they're B-tier fighters at most.

Here's a short list of N64 games we already have on Switch.

  • Super Mario 64 (in Super Mario 3D All-Stars)
  • DOOM 64
  • QUAKE
  • Star Wars: Episode I Racer
  • Turok / Turok: Dinosaur Hunter
  • Turok 2: Seeds of Evil

If they added Master System, it would be interesting to see if they added it to the standard NSO package or the expansion pack? I'd hope they'd add it to Standard, but it would probably depend on the commercials with SEGA.

@MarioBrickLayer In my eyes, they'd probably put it in the standard package because it's basically just the sega nes, right down to the controller.

Here's a list of Nintendo 64 games for the Virtual Console (Wii and Wii U).
They're most likely to re-appear since they've been done before.

17. Super Smash Bros.
18. Wave Race 64
19. Mario Party 2
20. 1080° Snowboarding
21. Donkey Kong 64
22. Excitebike 64
23. Pokémon Puzzle League
24. Cruis'n USA
25. Bomberman 64
26. Bomberman Hero
27. Ogre Battle 64
28. Harvest Moon 64

Other than that I assume that Pilotwings 64 and Mario Party 3 are really easy 1st party picks as well.

Banjo-Kazooie also hopefully opens the floodgates for Conker's Bad Fur Day, Perfect Dark, Killer Instinct Gold, Jet Force Gemini, Blast Corps, Banjo-Tooie, and Diddy Kong Racing... and GoldenEye.

Has Mischief Makers really leaked?

As for Sega Master System, I always loved the color palette of its games. It has probably the best graphics of all 8 bit machines.

Here are 5 games I love and 5 I love to see:
1. Wonder Boy
2. Wonder Boy II: Wonder Boy in Monster Land
3. Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap
4. Wonder Boy in Monster World
5. Bubble Bobble
6. New Zealand Story
7. Golden Axe Warrior
8. Ys
9. Golvellius
10. Phantasy Star

It played good versions of Choplifter, R-Type, Rampage, and Ghostbusters as well.

I'd paint myself gold from top to bottom, or bungee jump from a dam just for them to release Goldeneye again.
