@VoidofLight No idea. I don’t recall that ever happening but I could be wrong. Nate has gotten the exact dates of Nintendo Directs right pretty consistently, as well as correctly predicting other things in the gaming industry. I believe he has some sort of source, but again I won’t be getting my hopes up until there’s more to go off of.
@PikminMarioKirby I remember it pretty well. Guy gets a lot wrong, so it’s hard for me to trust anything he says. He also kept saying twilight princess and windwaker hd were coming to switch.
"It is fate. Many have tried, yet none have ever managed to escape it's flow."
@PikminMarioKirby I'd be surprised if they skipped Triple Deluxe but it's believable that a Kirby port/remaster would happen in 2025. Kirby isn't really a console launch year thing because Mario exists so it's more likely that Kirby appears before the release of the new console with an old game or spinoff and then the next new mainline game is in year 2 or 3 of the new console.
The main reason I don’t think Samus Returns will come to Switch next year is because we already have MP4 coming out somepoint 2025, and it’d be a lot more likely to get Prime 2/3 ports before we got Samus Returns (and 4 Metroid games in 1 year feels like a stretch to me).
I'm kind of feeling like 2D Metroid will get a new title Year 2 or 3, not a port or remake. It'll have been 5 or 6 years since Dread by that point, it feels like a new entry is warranted around that time. Plus it'll probably sell better on the new console with new mechanics based on the Switch 2's capabilities. Save any kind of ports or remakes for later in the generation.
Personally, I'd like to see a Super Metroid remake as contrary to popular opinion I do NOT think that game is perfect and could use some overhauls (maybe not quite to the degree of ZM/SR but still more than a copy/paste job), but a SR port would be cool too.
Triple Deluxe is a really cool title, although since it’s in between Return to Dream Land and Robobot, it was kind of overshadowed for a lot of people. My opinion is if it’s a direct port of Robobot with no new content, it should be packaged with Triple Deluxe. If it is given the RtDL Deluxe treatment, though, it should be a standalone thing.
It also probably released at a bad time where there was tons of other 2D platformers that were relatively safe sequels of previous entries (early 2010s was utterly LOADED with linear platformers), so I was too fatigued to bother with it. Triple Deluxe came off as one of them, it felt way too much like RtDL so I wasn't interested, but I might've just been a bit unfair to it. I might circle back to it when they decide to port it, but I think that's the kind of game that needs not much else happening around it for it to get more attention and a better impression of it.
I absolutely cannot recommend it enough, easily my favorite game of Sakurai's repertoire!
That's a very high level, considering that he made a lot of the older Kirby games and the Smash Bros games. I'd definitely check it out if they make a Switch remaster! I like Dark Pit's theme (it is in Smash Bros) a lot, so that gives me hope that the OST is good as well!
@Bolt_Strike 2D Metroid is likely not a priority for Nintendo. I expect that, at earliest, to be late year 3 or year 4 of Switch 2.
As for Kirby Triple Deluxe, I believe it sold a lot better than Robobot, but Robobot is a lot more popular these days. It's a very good game, and I hope it makes a comeback soon!
@Grumblevolcano For some reason HAL typically chooses the fan favorite games to remake. We've only got 3 remakes mainline Kirby games (out of 13, I believe), which was Kirby Nightmare in Dream Land (remake of Kirby Adventure), Kirby Super Star Ultra, and Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe. It's like how Intelligent Systems skipped Paper Mario 64 and went to TTYD, as TTYD was more popular demand. Return to Dream Land and Planet Robobot are both some of the biggest games for the fanbase, so I think Robobot makes sense to be the next one to get a remake.
I don't expect a new Kirby Switch 2 game until early 2026. If any series will continue smaller titles/spin-offs on Switch around/after Switch 2 launch, it'll probably be Kirby.
@Dev1024 Yeah I'd be fine with just an HD version, but I'd much prefer something similar to how they did Return to Dream Land. I wonder if we'd get any more multi player content?
Once February next year hits, it'll be 2 years since the last Kirby game. I assumed HAL and Nintendo were just cooking for the next 3D Kirby, but it's very possible they are also working on a Robobot remaster/remake at the same time.

It's not a big priority but Dread sold fairly well and MercurySteam is likely going to have something early in the Switch 2's lifespan simply based on the amount of time since Dread. If not 2D Metroid, then what? This is less about Metroid's status in the Nintendo pecking order and more about what is MercurySteam doing and when.

At the moment we know MercurySteam is working on some big game codenamed Project Iron, a 'third person action RPG set in a dark fantasy world' with 'strong graphics' coming for PC and non-specified consoles. No trailers yet but it got announced in 2021 and there was some comments about it in 2023 by the director. It will use the same (updated) Mercury Engine Metroid Dread used. Late 2025 is possible given their usual release cadence, but of course it can't be Metroid if it is coming to PC.
@Bolt_Strike Sure, but I bet it's at least as likely Project Iron is going to come to Switch 2 as well as PC/etc. As you said, they'll want to be on the new console fairly early.
The rumours of a Kirby port coming has the ring of truth - he has been the harbinger of death for just about every Nintendo console. When the hour is late and Kirby arrives (with an adorable little black hood and scythe) you know that time is short for that console.
@PikminMarioKirby I thought the choices were more to do with taking into account other factors like backwards compatibility and VC/NSO. Like not doing a 64 remake because N64 games are on VC and NSO.
If it is just about fan favourites like you said so Planet Robobot is next, I hope Triple Deluxe was popular enough that it's the next one after Planet Robobot.
@FishyS MercurySteam always has two projects going if you look at their release history and development cycles. Given the only time we don't know 2 projects from them is usually when they're working for Nintendo, I'd assume Metroid 6 is p much a lock as the other project.
PLEASE let Planet Robobot come to switch with multiplayer and new content!! I bet it’ll include a new post game mode similar to Magolor Epilogue starring Susie as she takes a vacation after the events of the main story. It would explain that weird Vacation Susie mask in RTDL Deluxe, the only one to not reference something actually seen in a game and an especially weird pick as her variant since Parallel Susie is literally a thing.
I genuinely don't know why people act like it's confirmed that Planet Robobot is getting ported. Are we really going to ignore all the times NatetheHate got things wrong?

@VoidofLight My thoughts exactly! I love rumors as much as the next guy, but outside of 3rd kits in S3 and a Kid Icarus port, I do not partake in the copium!
@VoidofLight The only near guarantee is that we are getting a Kirby game next year simply because we haven't had one for awhile. And considering Kirby probably won't be one of the main Switch 2 launch games, a port which works on Switch 1 seems plausible; we already have 2 ports/remasters for Switch 1 next year but I suspect there will be more to fill out the schedule on the Switch-1 side during the transition year (e.g. Zelda, Kirby).
@FishyS Yeah, the only guarantee is that something related to Kirby is coming out next year. For all we know though, it could be a small free to play game.

Ehh, that's only been true somewhat, not entirely. It's true there's been a lot of late gen Kirby games, but not all of them are. Games like Canvas Curse, Squeak Squad, Epic Yarn, Triple Deluxe, Rainbow's Curse, Star Allies (although for the record I do suspect that Star Allies was originally intended to be late gen for the Wii U and was shifted to the Switch because the Wii U failed), and Forgotten Land didn't exactly spell the end for that console generation. The only console where that's entirely felt true is the N64.
@Grumblevolcano Yeah it’s really hard to say why they made that choice for TTYD. It’s not always the fan favorite (like when they did Skyward Sword over other 3D Zelda titles and LM2 over LM1), but it felt intentional from Intelligent Systems. Most Wii U games came to Switch but with the backlash Color Splash got, it hasn’t returned.
I think I prefer Triple Deluxe over Robobot (I may be bias), but I totally get why people want Robobot more. I think they will skip Triple Deluxe for now (unless this is a double pack), but I think they’ll return to it at somepoint (hopefully not too far away though)
I genuinely don't know why people act like it's confirmed that Planet Robobot is getting ported.
I didn’t know people were acting like that. From what I’ve seen it’s mostly just people speculating and/or hoping this is true. I am very cautious about this rumor, but I think we are getting another Kirby game next year before the next mainline Kirby, whether it be Robobot or not.
For the Kirby series, I’d probably want to see Kirby Air Ride most. I’d be very happy with Robobot though, it’s a great title many people probably missed on 3DS.
@PikminMarioKirby I’ve seen countless people act as if Nintendo officially announced it because “credible leaker revealed it,” when Nate is far from being credible.
