Topic: Next Nintendo Direct?

As there has not been any until now, I doubt there will be one until beginning of next year. I hope I am wrong though...

@Lady_Galadhiel Next week would be logical since it is before the November financial meeting. If it's not next week though, who knows.

@FishyS I hope you are right, although I would appreciate if Nintendo would announce their direct's one week before they happen.

If they don't announce it before the financial meeting, then all the questions will be about Switch 2. Not a bad distraction from if they are having a worse year than projected hahaha.

@Lady_Galadhiel Shorter gap between announcing and airing Directs means if they have to delay for whatever reason, there's a smaller chance they have to publicly announce a delay. Take for example the Partner Showcase in February 2024, apparently it got delayed a week because of the Xbox community's reaction to rumours of Xbox going multiplatform. If there was truth to the delay, Nintendo would've had to publicly announce the delay if they announced the Partner Showcase a week in advance.

Haven’t a lot of people been claiming every week this month that a Switch 2 reveal was supposed to happen? I’ve been seeing a lot of people now claiming that a Switch 2 announcement is the start of this week on Monday (at least where I live) but I’m very skeptical on that…

@Pastellioli The only reason why this coming week is special is that it is the last chance before the half year Nintendo financial meeting. Also it would be close to the timing they did for the Switch reveal for whatever that's worth. And earlier in the week makes sense mainly because Thursday is Halloween. So Monday or Tuesday pre-tweet seems likely if it happens at all.

@FishyS Given the rumored date happening on Monday or Tuesday and how they probably wouldn’t want a reveal to coincide with Halloween, that does make sense. Let’s see what this week will have!

Watch it be that the rumors are fake and everyone who claimed it was happening this week were just making those claims because of the financial meeting.

@Pastellioli Almost every week has been 'Switch 2 this week for sure!' for many. The release weeks of Echoes, Jamboree, and Brothership have always seemed out of the question though. Personally I'd say we should at least know about it within the next 48 hours. Depends if they do Monday -> Tuesday or Tuesday to Wednesday. Like @FishyS said, Thursday seems out of the question with Halloween (hey we could at least get a '1 more week' for Brothership lol), but Tuesday/Wednesday are still in the cards. I also agree that this is essentially this year's last chance for any sort of major reveal/presentation.

With only Donkey Kong Country Returns having a release date for 2025, I don't think Nintendo's going into the meeting like that. Since Brothership and the meeting are next week, I doubt we're getting the announcement that week. This week is essentially our last chance to get anything major from Nintendo, and since Halloween is likely off the cards, a Tuesday/Wednesday reveal seems the most likely.

If we don't hear anything this week, it's entirely possible we'll get an update at the meeting next week, but probably not a full-on reveal in that case.

@Novamii Shuntaro Furukawa is the most reliable insider, when he gives info it's pretty much guaranteed to happen! (...unless it's delayed)

@VoidofLight with Brothership coming out, I would be fine waiting a bit longer for the Switch 2 reveal. All the leakers claiming next week would be proven wrong and probably just be guessing things. Perhaps call it a last minute delay?

@PikminMarioKirby Ahh true, could be a Last minute delay that gets delayed every month. The best strat of a "leaker." Never admitting they could be in the wrong and always using delays to their advantage.

@Novamii No you see! That was a Switch 2 announcement! It was totally what they were forecasting! An announcement about the Switch 2, not an announcement of the Switch 2!

I still think it's February reveal and Nintendo going into the meeting with only 4 upcoming games isn't a problem because it happened back in May's meeting (and has happened with some meetings before then too):

This time it's:

• November 7th - Mario & Luigi Brothership
• January 16th - DKC Returns HD

@Grumblevolcano That's true, but they were asked about the Switch 2 at the meeting, and gave a general time-frame on when they were going to announce the system itself. While I could see them just talking about the four games they have releasing, I feel like there's a chance they would be pushed to speak on the Switch 2 at some point during it.

To be fair, there are no rumours for this round of excitement. The expectation for this week is based on:
1. The shareholder meeting next week which, even in isolation, makes this week far more likely than any other time until late January
2a. The, not rumoured known, ramp-up of component stockpiling in August making a release later next year less likely and
2b. A release in H1 2025 not being particularly compatible with an announcement next year
3. Share price volatility of the kind which tends to happen before major announcements

Everything else swirling around ATM is just noise that doesn't disconfirm the above. And stuff like the eyes emoji basically confirming the first Switch 2 game. Seems unlikely there'd be that kind of chatter if it's releasing in late 2025

A somewhat silly theory lines up the 2016 dates almost exactly:

new NES mini trailer - Sep 30 2016
Switch announcement - Oct 20 2016 (20 days later)
Fall earnings release - Oct 26 2016 (6 days later)

Alarmo Trailer - Oct 9th 2024
Switch 2 announcement - Oct 30 2024? (21 days later)
Fall earnings release - Nov 5 2024 (6 days later)

Just for fun, combine that with the even sillier idea that if you read the alarmo banner time of 03:10 (which is just Mario day as a time) really really incorrectly you get October 30th.

Ignoring the Alarmo conspiracy theory, Oct 29 would of course fit the pattern well also. A pattern which has absolutely no reason to be true unless Nintendo simply happened to make very similar scheduling decisions for similar reasons.

If Youtubers need to keep the Switch 2 grift going through the holiday season, they can simply read the clock backwards and have a speculated reveal on 01/30.

Hope this gets them through Chrstmas...
