@NintendoByNature Just under three years actually. I've just used it a lot in that time and exclusively in handheld mode. Even if it died I'd feel like I got my money's worth out of it but I need it to at least last so I can properly do a system transfer or whatever.
@BenAV yea for sure. Crazy to think some of these switch's are close to the end of their lives though. I get it's a handheld too, but they don't feel "nintendo durable," that's for sure. I really hope the next system is sturdy as all get out.
@NintendoByNature I've had some bad luck with a few of my recent systems. DSi shoulder button went dodgy within weeks and it was a real battle to get my Wii U to actually read discs, new 3DS circle pad didn't work properly. Plus the well documented stuff like the 3DS scratching its own screen and the launch Switch with the screw too tight that cracks the case. My first Switch Pro Controller had drift out of the box too, had to exchange it for a new one. I'm due for a bit more luck next console haha.
@BenAV definitely sounds like you've had some bad luck. Up until the switch, all my nintendo systems have pretty much been indestructible lol. Still got all my og nes items and they work fine for the most part. Crazy.
@NintendoByNature All my Nintendo systems up until the Wii are all still working fine to my knowledge. Just everything more recent than that has been a bit more iffy. I try not to sweat it too much though, especially with my handhelds which I expect to get pretty worn over time with how much I use them, I just replace them if I really need to. If the prices are going up though then it'd be nice if they were made a bit more durable/reliable.
It's been 1 year since the September 14th, 2023 Nintendo Direct, it was awesome! It was mostly stuff we already knew about, but TTYD was an INSANE reveal, still can't believe Nintendo acknowledged that masterpiece (and not just acknowledged, remade it!). If we are getting a Direct/Presentation this month, it would most likely be next week if anything.
@PikminMarioKirby It's surreal thinking back then to how confident so many people were that the Direct was a sign of Switch 2 announce and release in 2024. Considering now is in a similar situation (lots of people very confident about a Switch 2 reveal next week for a Spring 2025 release), it would be the perfect opportunity for Nintendo to surprise us all and do a Switch 1 general Direct instead.
I can't see Nintendo doing a general direct this month. They have nothing left to show. Echoes of Wisdom got an overview trailer, Mario and Luigi got a short trailer and info dump. Unless they have new games to show off somehow, they pretty much have nothing to show. Switch Online could literally just be dropped as its own announcement.
"It is fate. Many have tried, yet none have ever managed to escape it's flow."
@Novamii I could see them just doing nothing at all this month honestly. I'm just mostly saying I don't think we're getting a general direct if we get anything at all.

@Grumblevolcano A lot of people claimed it was the last general Switch Direct, and people have been claiming that every Direct since. I'd be happy with either a Switch Direct or a Successor reveal, I don't care that much either way. As you've mentioned before, I think a Direct/Successor Reveal combo would be a good approach, however Nintendo seems to separate hardware and software. Maybe there could be a hardware announcement, and then shortly after we get a Direct with some Switch 1 stuff and then some Switch Successor games.
@VoidofLight Brothership didn't really have an 'info dump', most of it was already known and felt like a short advertisement more than an actual trailer. I think there's plenty a Direct can have. We could get big trailers for Brothership and Jamboree, then maybe some DKCR and Metroid Prime 4. We could get some shorter looks at Fitness Boxing 3 and maybe a reminder for Echoes of Wisdom. The Super Nintendo World DK expansion could get a short segment. 3DS got at least 11 games in 2017 (Switch launch year), so maybe 2-3 new games for Switch? This year could still have a shadow drop or a game in the Pokemon/holiday slot, along with February/March probably having at least 1-2 games. NSO could get an update since we haven't heard about that yet. Pokemon Z-A could even be there. I think that is more than enough to have a Direct about as big as last year's September Direct. Depending on when the Successor is announced, maybe we could get 1 or more Successor game teasers?
@Croctopus I agree, I don't see this month being empty of a major presentation. Personally I think either a Direct or Switch Successor announcement are a lot more likely than nothing at all. At this point, next week seems like the only option because of Echoes of Wisdom
@PikminMarioKirby Legends Z-A is most likely not going to be in a general direct. Gamefreak tends to do their own thing, and seeing as they skipped their normal presents timing they probably just have nothing to show until Pokemon Day 2025. I don't think Fitness Boxing or DKCR are large enough games to help carry a direct, and I doubt we'll see more of Prime 4 so soon. I genuinely think Brothership will get marketed the same way that Echoes of Wisdom has been marketed.
The only way I can see them doing a General Direct is if they lump together both the Switch 2 announcement with a showcase of games for it along with games for the original Switch.

People are currently talking about a Pokemon tweet that may or may not have existed which got deleted. A tweet saying that there's a Presents scheduled for the 18th that will last 30 minutes. There's a high chance of it being fake, but someone found a deleted tweet recently as well- so I genuinely don't know if it's to be believed or not. Guess we'll find out on Monday or Tuesday.

@VoidofLight I think Z-A probably won't be in a general Direct yet, but it's possible. We've seen mainline Pokemon in Directs before, and also Detective Pikachu Returns was announced at a Direct last year. DKCR and Fitness Boxing 3 would probably have somewhat short trailers.

I haven't seen any rumors like that, but could just be missing it. What does it say exactly? That would be a very ironic outcome if that's all we get next week, it'd be very disappointing for many (including myself).
Millions of people probably follow Pokemon's X account, so I feel like it would be more viral at this point. Reasons I think this is probably fake:
30 minutes would be quite long for a Pokemon Presents, since it'd probably just include Z-A and mobile games and ads for other Pokemon products.
Early August would've made more sense to hold a Presents since August is a key month for Presents from what we've seen recently.
Pokemon would probably be extra careful not to post it since it's a Presents which is a big deal for them
@Grumblevolcano People are looking too deep into it. The tweet was made the same day a few years back, so that's why they're saying "Today is the only day you can share this." It just happened to be that Gen 5 was fresh in 2011.
There's no way we're getting Gen 5 remakes any time soon. Especially with the announcement of ZA on Pokemon Day.

Hm, as the days pass I really don’t think we are getting a general Direct this month. I think by now they should have announced one or had one happen already, or they could be having one later? I dunno. Could still happen but could be something smaller like a Direct Mini, but I still am expecting them to drop NSO news on social media at random rather than saving it for a presentation like they tend to do every September. I am surprised no “leakers” have any news to share on that, cuz usually there’s always the September Direct rumors showing up frequently when an expected Direct hasn’t happened yet, or when the date for an expected Direct passes and it gets later in the month.
@Grumblevolcano Imagine if we got Black/White remaster/remake as a surprise holiday title this year
One of my first Pokemon experiences was Pokemon White 2, so if they ever do remake it down the line I hope it has the content from the ‘sequels’ as well Idk the difference between the 2).
I wouldn’t say this is necessarily a hint, since it was just the ‘anniversary’ of Ed Sheeran’s tweet. Black/White’s anniversary is the 18th, so I guess that’s coming up
