I was wondering whether the game could be a Yoshi title.

Surely we really need Donkey Kong '94 on NSO? Between that, the Donkey Kong Land games and Mario vs Donkey Kong and other games/series (Jungle Beat, Diddy Kong Racing etc.) there's always a reasonable chance that something Donkey Kong shows up.

"They're going to announce a Wii game (HD version) and a more substantial remake of a DS game" is also well within educated guess tertiary. They almost always announce a Wii U or Wii port in every direct (and it's increasingly Wii since the Wii U port line has run dry). DS/3DS ports are also happening more regularly.

I'm not saying that someone on the internet might be making something up but I am saying that if I myself wanted to make something up, have people believe it and then plausibly point at what gets shown as supporting my record then "there'll be something Donkey Kong, a Wii remaster and a remake of a cult classic DS game" would pretty much be my go-to line at this point too.

@JONOFTHEJONS My guess is the direct will mention Mortal Kombat 1 since Switch is getting it the same day the other consoles are (possibly the day of the direct). Unless they can't figure out how to make a trailer family friendly enough for a Nintendo direct 😆

I'm not sure what the Zelda or Mario games would be though. The potential DS Zelda could be a Link's Awakening-style remake of Hourglass for example, but Skyward Sword already has a Switch port, so unless you count the Twilight Princess Wii port, that leaves us stuck for Zelda.

And for Mario, I can only think of either a NSMB collection (unlikely with Wonder around the corner) or maybe a sequel to 3D All-Stars consisting of Super Mario 64 DS and Galaxy 2 (monumentally unlikely).

Hope you're having a good day.

@FishyS I think most general directs flash up a big PEGI 18 or 'M' at the beginning.

Imagine if we saw a cute little Kirby game that segues straight into spines being ripped out!

@JONOFTHEJONS I think if any of those appear it'll be MK1 in a sizzle reel given how close it is to launch. Gotham Knights would probably be announced for Switch after Batman Arkham Trilogy releases (we also don't know if Arkham Knight in that trilogy is a cloud version or not). Sony owns the marketing for the 3rd game you listed so would likely never appear in a Direct, also it not being present protects Nintendo's image given the problematic nature of the game.

@JONOFTHEJONS It's a weird one. Arkham Asylum is on the cart while the other 2 are digital. Arkham Asylum and Arkham City supports cloud saves meanwhile Arkham Knight says not supported because it doesn't use save data. So something odd is going on with Arkham Knight, we just don't know what.

SOmeone posted a leak of the next Direct (I don't believe it as it looked too good to be true in places lol.) I posted it, but deleted it in case it was actually real (and I would love it to be lol!)

@GrailUK There is no way they’re going to announce another Legend of Zelda game the same year the biggest title in the franchise came out. Also this looks way too “professional” which suggests someone faked it.

@FragRed Yeah, I'm erring on the side of fake myself. (I got cold feet because I would hate to spoil it for someone, so I deleted it lol.) But Ocarina, Xenoblade X, F-ZeroGX and MP4 would give me a heart attack lol. I know Doug Bowser said they were being bullish, but that would be ridiculous! Besides, it's unusual for them to talk about the first half of next year in the heading. It's usually this year with 2024 titles thrown in for good measure. It's uncharacteristc of them.

@GrailUK Totally. This whole list sounded like wishful thinking with the leaks chucked in to give it credibility.

@FragRed That said, if Nintendo are chasing the best selling console of all time (and why wouldn't they - the marketing would write itself for the next console!) then that line up (especially a remake of Ocarina - regarded by so many as one of the best games ever made would move units like nobodies business.

@FragRed Lol. Man. Nooooo!

Anyhoo, it's probably fake like you say. No farming sims.

Crikey! That really is firing off all cylinders! I would be very suprised if we see anything Zelda related on Switch even if it is a remake, until at least the end of the year. They'll probably announce something new once that GOTY award is tucked safely into their cabinet!

MP4's chances of appearing just goes up and up every direct. Perhaps they'll want to pace themselves with a Prime 2 remaster, who knows!
...I mean Pyoro probably does but still.

@GrailUK Noooooo. Don’t throw that out there. I can’t bare anymore farming sims. There’s only so many games in a genre like that anyone can possibly want to play.

@Nintoz Well, technically, there is nothing stopping Prime 4 releasing without 2 and 3 outside of fanboy ocd. I better whisper this but...it's usually fine to play most games without playing any other in the series (they aren't tv shows lol.) One of the best things about watching Star Wars in the cinema was the feeling of 'in situ res' (granted I had no idea it was a thing, but it still felt epic!)

@GrailUK For all we know the final name may not be called Prime 4. They could always drop the numbering system and go with a subtitle.
