I might be in the minority here, but I feel like 2024 is the next date for new hardware. I feel like if something was going to happen in 2023, the OLED wouldn't exist, since it seems like it was created as a result of having the many of the components but not the chipset of a Switch Pro.

@ElRoberico I don't expect anything until Nintendo announces it. Anyone else is simply wanting me to read / hear what they say regardless of what they actually know.

@ElRoberico I’ve always felt 2024 made the most sense for Nintendo to release new hardware. Nintendo are gonna release when Nintendo feels it’s right to release it. Only real reason 2023 is being talked about, at least as far as I’m aware, is because of TotK releasing this year.

I'm like a broken record, I swear. Every platform holder who has lead the market typically shows sublime ignorance in regards to how they handle the follow up to their most popular product. Nintendo might say that they won't repeat the mistake they made with the Wii, by waiting too long to offer a Wii HD (Wii U). But history points towards Nintendo most likely fumbling the Switch's momentum.
Switch 2, announced in 2025 for release in 2026.
Switch Physical Collection - 1,537 games (as of December 22nd, 2025)
Switch 2 Physical Collection - 4 games (as of December 8th, 2025)
@Magician
Aa long as the next Switch isn't called the "Switch U", then it is already being handled way better than the Wii U.
I also find it very difficult to believe Nintendo will wait until 2025/2026 before releasing the next Switch. The current Switch is one of the most successful game platforms of all time but it isn't going to last another 3+ years.
@FragRed
Makes sense. We are under 3 months away from the Switch's 6th anniversary - any upgraded Switch hardware released at this point will be a successor.
@GrailUK The Switch Pro is actually just a card reader. You insert your credit/debit card into it and at Nintendo’s HQ, there’s a machine that prints money 24/7.

@GrailUK Yeah but the one you have actually requires you to buy games. This new one doesn’t have any games on it. It just takes all your money, and creates infinite debts for you to never be able to repay.

@FragRed On the one hand, I'm grateful the rumours might calm down a bit. But them on the other hand, I'm not looking forward to the 'I'm so nervous about <insert game>' or 'Nintendo are worried about the next system' type articles I'm sure will come. @GrailUK It’s a Nintendo thing to feel anxious about how well they do at releasing new hardware. It just comes with the territory, which doesn’t happen with Sony or Microsoft so much.
