@Whitewatermoose Yes but I wonder who is going to buy two final fantasy games in one month. They are also pretty long games. I was expecting marvel ultimate alliance to release in april alongside the new movie.
@nintendobynature final fantasy 15 pocket edition isn't worth buying in my opinion. It's a mobile version of final fantasy 15 which I as a jrpg fan didn't like. for the upcoming games Final fantasy 10-10-2 is a turnbased rpg and final fantasy 12 has an active battle system. If i were you I wouldn't pick up pocket edition and depending if you like turnbased or active combat pick up final fantasy 10-10-2 or final fantasy 12
I'm torn on whether or not this will be a mini Direct. Surely, after the relative silence of the last few months, there has to be some stuff in store, but this recent string of announcement, from Dragon's Dogma to Yoshi to NES games has me a little speculation about the whole thing.
Predictions? Well, some filler 3DS stuff, along with some DLC, hopefully some for Super Mario Party and MK8D. I also hope we can get a confirmed release date for Piranha Plant, but I'm not locking in Joker gameplay just yet.
New announcements? Probably. I'd love to see Mario Maker make the jump to Switch, either as a port or a full-fledged sequel. An obligatory Kirby spin-off would work, too.
The two big ones, for me, are Bayoneta 3 and Metroid Prime 4. I predict to see a small ammount of the former, but sadly, none of the latter. Prime 4 just seems so early in development for anything to be shown beyond a teaser, maybe.
@troy258 I'm sure id prefer a more active combat style. The only turn based game I've played and played thru is undertale. Which to me was just an ok game. Is 12 still a game someone who's never played can pick up and catch on? And when is that coming to switch
@nintendobynature yes the final fantasy series doesn't have a joined story, only the fantasy theme. It is coming out on the 30th of april. It is considered a good game but I like the turnbased system more. You can look up some gameplay on youtube but make sure you put the zodiac age tag behind it otherwise you will see gameplay of the older game.
@nintendobynature don't worry you aren't the only one lol. Outside of playing the FF7 demo years ago in the psx I've never touched the entire series either. Glad that all the older games are getting re-releases though. Wish SE would bring back more of their older catalog.
@loriloud there is no direct confirmed but they have announced the release dates of yoshi's crafted world (29 march) final fantasy 10-10-2 (16 april) final fantasy 12 (30 april) and kirby's extra epic yarn (8 march) which I thaught could have made a good mini direct.
If tv, movies, gaming and music are all converging into these services, that is not Sony or Nintendo's game. They do not have that type of money or infrastructure.
...Really? You know Sony is more than a Playstation, right? "Its diversified business includes consumer and professional electronics, gaming, entertainment and financial services. The company owns the largest music entertainment business in the world, the largest video game console business and one of the largest video game publishing businesses, and is one of the leading manufacturers of electronic products for the consumer and professional markets, and a leading player in the film and television entertainment industry."

@redd214 hahah phew, I thought I was on an island with that one. What I'll probably do is grab a final fantasy game off VC on Wii u to see if its something I like before I drop some big coin on a game I'm not sure about yet
@gcunit I just looked. Theres only one. I wouldve thought there was more but I guess not. I have an nes classic and snes classic which have ff games on it so those are my options for now i guess.
So....what I truly believe in my heart. Do not come at me with pitchforks, just hear me out.
I think Nintendo probably has a non Switch 3ds successor this year. Is that VR, a kiddie system, or a smart phone? I have no idea.
I also think Nintendo may realize that they can not "win" this videogame war now with Google and Apple entering and may.be looking for a partner. I also feel this is what Sony is doing. It is not a Nintendo doomed thread. But, maybe they need help moving forward. If tv, movies, gaming and music are all converging into these services, that is not Sony or Nintendo's game. They do not have that type of money or infrastructure.
It is the same reason I feel both EA and to a lesser extent Zenimax (bethesda) is for sale.
I've always found the concept of a console or video game war kind of stupid to be quite honest. Different people enjoy playing different things and that's fine. Also first time hearing Apple and Google are doing video game systems. Interesting if true, best of luck to them I guess.
I don't think Nintendo really views things the way consumers or fans do. They aren't trying to "win" any war just make fun games and good products that people will want to buy and play, and for the most part they do that. As long as people stay satisfied with the switch and to a lesser extent the 3DS for whatever lifespan it has left, its fine.
As for mobile I see that as just some extra easy money on the side. Nintendo probably knew they wouldn't make nearly as much off of that as they would Switch or even 3DS annually. But it's a nice buffer even if it is a tiny one.
Anywho back on topic I don't know if there will or won't be a direct this month anymore but honestly i'm fine either way, the random Twitter reveals have been neat. (Do we call it a Twitter Direct I guess?) And i'm sure Nintendo still has a lot of surprises in store for us over the course of 2019 either way.
Man, Q1 is shaping up quite nicely; NSMB U Deluxe, Yoshi’s Crafted World, Tales of Vesperia, Travis Strikes Again, Dragon’s Dogma, Final Fantasy X/X-2, Final Fantasy XII, Mortal Combat 11...
Anyway, hearing several rumblings, I’m expecting a Direct on January 17th. There is one coming, I’m certain of it. No idea what they will announce though. More third party stuff I assume.
@Whitewatermoose The western support was decent last year. Paladins, Fortnite, Arena of Valor, Warframe, both South Park games, Crash Trilogy, Wolfenstein II, Diablo 3, Civ VI (console exclusive!), Starlink, the yearly FIFA/NBA 2K/Just Dance, Lego games, etc.
This year already has Smite and Saints Row the Third as confirmed ports. On top of that we have multiple big new multiplats coming with Mortal Kombat 11, Trials Rising, Crash Team Racing, Wolfenstein Youngblood, and Doom Eternal. Off to a good start I'd say.
And if a certain rumor is true, then Doom Eternal is going to receive the ultimate promotion from Nintendo.
I think if 3rd parties are going to take Switch seriously this year that Smash is involved, the bigger 3rd parties gain nothing in normal circumstances for releasing Switch versions at the same time as PS4/XB1 versions.
