By the way, due to US daylight savings Nintendo's announcements for a few weeks will be an hour earlier UK time so like if a Direct would usually be announced 2pm UK time, it'll be 1pm UK time this time.

People are desperate

@Dezzy Haha agreed, seeing as Nintendo marketed the hell out of the GamePad's controls, only to have it be a "make more accurate shots" to play the game properly.

I would still love a port of the game, or maybe a sequel if they're gonna take a lot of time to overhaul the controls and all.

God first.

@Octane Well the discussion for the early 2020 Direct did start a bit under 3 months ago at post 1292 after the Game Awards being just Bravely Default II and MUA3 DLC with it now being at post 2642 and counting. If people weren't desperate, there would've been much fewer posts

If people weren’t desperate, this thread would have ended a while back

I mean, it helps that this thread also doubles as the general 'speculation about NIntendo's plans for the year' thread.

@link3710 I thought that was the Nintendo Switch Thread that’s pinned to this forum? It was initially all about Nintendo’s plans for the future when we only knew of the NX.

@link3710 If enough people throw enough ideas at the wall, someone is bound to be right eventually.

@FragRed Lately that one's been all about recent releases, hardware issues, multigame reviews, etc. But there's plenty of overlap.

No.

Nope, but they only invented it in 2016. So the first time they really could've done that would be 2017.

That includes a lot of discussion about old/current games too though.

Makes sense that there's a separate thread for future speculation and hype.

Tomorrow is MAR10 Day.
And.... No sign of Direct.

@DannyBoi
Because Nintendo has decided March 10 as Mario Day since i and o looks like number 1 and 0.
And maybe it will be special event during MAR10 Day such as discount for Mario games or Mario merchandise on sale, etc.

A big thing suggesting BotW 2 is 2021 is the 35th anniversary of LoZ. Most of the anniversaries we've gotten something big:

  • 1986 - The Legend of Zelda (NES)
  • 1991 (5th anniversary) - A Link to the Past (SNES)
  • 1996 (10th anniversary) - Nothing
  • 2001 (15th anniversary) - Oracle of Ages/Oracle of Seasons (GBC)
  • 2006 (20th anniversary) - Twilight Princess (GC/Wii)
  • 2011 (25th anniversary) - Skyward Sword (Wii)
  • 2016 (30th anniversary) - Was likely meant to be BotW but got delayed because Switch launched in March 2017
  • 2021 (35th anniversary) - BotW 2

The Oracle games and nothing for 10th anniversary are the odd ones out but for the most part, a new big Zelda game has launched on the big anniversary years.

@DannyBoi 35th anniversary of SMB later this year is why Mario Day is more important than usual this year, probably means our big holiday 2020 game is more Mario. Don't think we'll have a Direct on Mar10 though.

@Grumblevolcano Do you think the Eshop maintenance has anything to do with Mario Day?

Destiny, justice and retribrution will be mine.

BranJ0

@Grumblevolcano 25th anniversary also had the Ocarina of Time 3D remake and the Four Swords Anniversary edition, just to back up your point further - I really want BotW 2 to make it into 2020 but a large part of me doubts it will

Anytime now. They need to have some sort of announcement for IOMAR day, right?
