@BongoBongo123 It's not really as Musou as the marketing really pitches it to be. If anything it actually has a lot more in common with mainline including stuff like enemy weakness exploitation, and even encouraging sneaking up on Shadows to engage fights instead of diving into them headfirst like other Musou titles. It gets surprisingly hard and intricate and you end up burning through SP pretty quickly if anything, which I think is just a result of it being a real time combat-based game rather than turn based. Even the fights themselves are considerably more contained and emulate the smaller scale feel of Persona encounters and you end up facing considerably less amounts of enemies at a time compared to games like Hyrule/Fire Emblem Warriors
The only thing it really lacks is an actual time management system since you can actually exit dungeons at any time and go shopping for extra stuff like healing items and new weapons without a day passing in the calendar. If anything the calendar is just there to mimic the feel of Persona but doesn't serve as much of a purpose in gameplay.
Also no social links so there is that too. It feels less like a Persona Warriors game and more like an action RPG that blends mainline mechanics and storytelling directly into real time combat and exploration, just using Musou as a base.
ONE MASSIVE DISCLAIMER THOUGH: The story contains a crap ton of Persona 5 spoilers so if you only own a Switch my recommendation is that you wait until you can actually play P5 first. Hell since it's part of the PS Plus Collection on PS5 it's as good a time as any to brush up on your Persona 5 story details.
That's interesting to know. I've never played a Persona game, but I was thinking of picking up Persona Q or Q2. I know that they aren't like the mainline games, but I dont have a PS3/4.
I think that Age of Calamity would actually be better if it did follow the Persona 5 Scramble formula, so if it was heavily based on Zelda gameplay wise. It'll be good to find out when the game releases anyway!
@BongoBongo123 Don't jump into either Persona Q game without playing P3-5 first
A lot of the fanservicey moments and emotional impact from seeing the casts together will kind of be completely absent if you're jumping into them as your starting point. They also don't give you a good taste of how Persona games play since their general gameplay and battle system is more reminiscent of Etrian Odyssey with sprinkles of Persona
My recommendation is literally just to save up for a PS5 for Persona 5 on PS Plus/Royal, get Golden on PC and try to emulate P3FES if you can't find a secondhand PS3 or even a Vita for P3P/the P1+2 remakes/P4G and the Dancing games
The spinoff games kinda lose a lot of the impact without playing the mainline entries. This goes for the Persona 4 Arena games and P5S as well
@TheFrenchiestFry Thanks for the advice. I would pick up a ps4 if I found one for cheap. Definitely won't be able to get a ps5 anytime soon. I would like to get into the series though, I know its critically acclaimed.
Either way it will be the first chance to see if it's BOTW 0 story with Hyrule Warriors gameplay or if it's a well endowed anime girls in a BOTW setting.
My feelings on this game are mixed... On one hand, I really would like to know more of the story of 100 years before Breath of the Wild. On the other other, I owned Hyrule Warriors and didn't find it all that great.

The fact that they copied the art style and used the identical assets heavily suggests its the first.
@Northwind Perhaps the King. Would be cool to see him joining his army to defend the castle during the climax of the story, to let us know he at least died fighting.
It would also be interesting to see how would a King of Hyrule fight... You know, one that is alive and doesn't have magical ghost powers yet.
I could almost see him being a good match for something similar to Ganondorf's dual sword style from the original HW.
