My switch was stolen along with my hard copy of Pokemon Violet
My Nintendo account (along with my payment methods) are still linked on that switch. There have been no purchases so far, as I’ve been monitoring, but how do i remove access to the account on a device i no longer have in my possession without closing and reopening an entirely new Nintendo store account and losing any preorders/digital downloads?
Also, is there ANY way my data from Pokemon Violet will be accessible without the same game card… because i was shiny hunting
I think if you simply change the password on your Nintendo Account, it should stop the console from being able to access it. I'm not 100% sure though so if anyone knows whether I'm right or wrong please confirm.
As for Pokemon Violet, I'm afraid there's no good news there sadly. Your save data is stored on the Switch console itself, and Pokemon games don't support cloud saves. The only way to get your save data back will be to get the console back.
The most important thing (explained on the link) is to deregister it as a primary console. I believe that makes it so they can't access your digital games and can't buy anything without signing in. And it can be done from the website, no account deletion required.
As for getting back save data? Unfortunately Pokemon Violet is one of the only games on Switch which doesn't allow cloud backup. If you also use the Pokemon Home app, you might have saved some Pokemon, but otherwise it is likely all lost unless you can recover your Switch.
@Eittol All you have to do is go to Nintendo's website for your region, or another Switch login in with your account info and remove said console from your account. You also want to change your password and if you have any payment information on the old system like a credit/debit card you might want to cancel those.
As for your saved progress when I had my Switch stolen and replaced it some of my games I was able to recover with cloud saves and others I wasn't.
@Tasuki I have 400 games on Switch... besides Animal Crossing and a few other games which have their own separate version of cloud save, I have several Pokemon games with no cloud save and precisely 2 non-Pokemon games with no cloud save. Over the years more and more games support it so it is near-universal... except for Pokemon games. And New Super Lucky's Tale for some bizarre reason. Nintendo is kinda jerky for not figuring out a way to backup one of their main franchises.
I'm sorry to hear about that. I don't know why you wouldn't just go straight to Nintendo as they'll be of far greater help than what any of us can offer you.
Sadly, unless you had an active NSO subscription, any save data on your old console will not be recoverable though. But Nintendo should be of help in recovering your NNID, if nothing else.
@CinnamonRobin Your correct, changing the pass locks you out pretty much.
Space and Games are similar. Space is endless and new stuff is out there waiting to be discovered. Games are always being made but the creativity is different from one game to another and so many more ideas still haven't been imagined or created yet. (That came out better than expected lol)
As anything reporting stolen Switches to Nintendo support to block or lockout their acces and changing your password is another deterent as well to look them out as if they try to sell they will be found out.
