Called my seller yesterday - still no news. I asked them to call the nintendo service last week and ask for a status report. They said they would do it. Yeah, right.
Gonna be 4 weeks Tomorrow that I am without my switch. Wonder how long its gonna take until I get it back or if...

Lotsa issues with it. I had to send mine in twice and my Pro controller once.

@brickofthewild I got mine back after 12 days which I thought was pretty good as it took them 3 days to unpack it. Are they replacing yours?

I dont know, I called today and the shop I bought it from told me its still in the Czech Republic and they dont know poo - told me they had 28 days to for the whole process. The thing is, its 28 working days. Initially I thought I would get my switch back after a month at the latest - now it turns out it may take longer and I cant do poo about it.
watch the language please...-Joey

@brickofthewild They say that they fixed it but I'm a bit suspicious. Mine had marks on the back where some DIY pads had rubbed the matte finish away. This one is spotless but the serial numbers match. The memory was wiped clean and they'd removed my screen protector. As it was a software fault I'm not sure why they'd do that.

I was told yesterday that I am finally getting my switch back - apparently today. They said its been repaired, wow that took a while.

Finally got it back - they had to replace the motherboard - wow!

The screen protector is of course, gone. How awesome is that? If they have to take off the screen protector, wouldnt it be logical to replace it? Or send at least a new one with the console? Its not big money, but thats not good service to do it that way - not saying that nintendo ever had good service.

And since the motherboard is different its like a different console, so I dont have access to my DLCs, gonna have to call them.

The joys of owning a Beta Switch.

Unfortunately so. Anyway its back now and its time to finally get back to Zelda, which I will have the ultimate pleasure to start from the beginning. How very awesome -

@brickofthewild They wipe the data when they do any repair. Your DLC can be redownloaded but I'm afraid your save data is gone forever. With me they removed the screen protector but it was attached to an anti static perspex that was enclosed in the box.

Nintendo should revamp their gamesaving system. To be honest, I took my time with the game, storywise I didnt went very far, rather strayed off the beaten path - still I put in about 20 hours into it and now I have to restart. Zelda is a great game, and I believe I have a nice time doing it, but its very annoying. In fact I have never been as annoyed about ninteno as I am right now. Its those moments where you just feel let down by a company's service.

@brickofthewild I can't bring myself to restart BotW as I'd put over 200 hrs into it. The worst thing was starting Splatoon from the start as I was at level 22 and had loads of maxed gear.

Its the worst quality control nintendo has done. And its the worst nintendo console they've ever produced.

I'd probably agree, though it's more a handheld than a proper console. Nintendo, so weren't ready for the Switch launch. That's probably why it's been so heavily reliant on Wii U ports. It's only original launch game was a pile of stink in 1, 2 Switch. That's not a game, more an abomination. Nintendo had to launch the Switch to improve Nintendo's end of year profits at the end of March. Wii U had better 3rd party support. Nintendo are so worried about piracy and figuring the system out itself as it goes, that's likely why there's no browser, why there's no VC, why its online subscription has been delayed until next year. I was reading of an exploit on Neogaf yesterday.

That's why the latest Switch patch came out. I think the next iteration of the Switch will fix a lot of the issues, e.g. poor battery life, awful dock, curving of the Switch, dodgy Joy-cons, poor internal memory, etc.

@Samus7Killer Sorry to hear of your switch dying, but unfortunately with all mass produced products there will always be a small margin of failure.. don't forget it's guaranteed and will be fixed for free (subject to the usual T&C's ofc ).... and both M$ and $ony have had/have issues with overheating and hardware failures.. personally I think the switch is a great console and the quality is very high (it could always be better in places.. (glass vs plastic for the screen for example), as with all devices).

@SLIGEACH_EIRE I know we've never spoken before directly and i apologise in advance if you see this as an attack.. it's not an attack, it's more like advice or an observation or another pointless internet forum comment.... Nevertheless less anger matey and more joy would go a long way to making you surely smile a touch more?!?!? Embrace change dude (I dare you), the switch brings many benefits that outweigh the hangups you may have... most of your comments on the switch are really negative and are very much subjective. I still assume you don't own a switch and can't really pass on direct knowledge, comments or experience on such matters? Thirdhand subjective comments don't really help anybody. I can assure you nintendo didn't make the switch to hurt you, to anger you, to annoy you so much that you feel you have to fill NL with negativity.

Examples of subjectivity and in response to your comments.. poor battery life (The battery life is more than good enough for the graphical output, my mobile phone battery dies quickly enough if i start watching HD TV), awful dock (Why awful ? it allows direct connection with to a TV, it does it's job, allows ethernet connectivity, protects the switch, charges the switch, etc, etc. the reported scratching was just a few idiots or a defective dock or two, yes it is expensive.. too expensive in truth, but it's not awful), curving of the Switch (personally i have no such curving of my switch, again i can't really comment as i have not directly been affected.. i guess this will be the minority of cases), dodgy Joy-cons (no joycon issues for me and i enjoy the flexibility, etc), poor internal memory (yes 32gb storage is small, but we can expand, so what's the issue?, etc.

So on that note.. cheer up chap, stay positive and maybe, just maybe someone will either gift you a switch so you can join the enjoyment train or nintendo will pull production because of your comments and we'll all hunt you down ?

I always had good experiences with Nintendo's customer service. On Monday I sent in my right Joy Con due to recharging problems. I will get it back tomorrow =) Pretty fast! I also lost one white stylus for my Nintendo 3DS Ambassador edition and ordered one by contacting Nintendo Germany. Paid for one and somehow got a black stylus instead of white. Made a call and got 4 additional white styluses for free. So - I can't complain about their customer service - at least not about their German division.
