Well.. I got my Switch one day after release, now it's making weird noises when I play Pokémon or Luigi's Mansion. I don't know what it is but it sounds creepy as if it's going to explode or something. I don't want to hear this. I worries me!

Does someone know why this is happening? I wanted to make a video but it isn't going to make the weird noise... Well here's a video: https://youtu.be/iP-pFXQ8mrY (credit to the owner) in this video it makes mostly the same creepy noise. Should i return it to Nintendo to get a new one with the same data? Please help me :/

Holy smokes that is loud.

E-mail Ninty customer support. Send the link too with this description, they probably know what it is.

@Raizor3 I wonder if dust has stuck to the fan, making the fan off balance, to make that sound. You could give Nintendo a call.

*Have your YouTube video cued up, just in case, so you can play the sound. To diagnose the situation, they will likely ask you to describe the sound. Im not sure how i would effectively describe the sound, myself.

Or like @Daniel36 suggested, while you're on the phone, the person at Nintendo may be able to tell you their email, so you can send the link to them, while you're on the phone.

@Daniel36 Well the sound in the video is quieter as my switch does...

Woomy_NNYes I think it also happens because I'm 8 hours at my switch gaming Luigis Mansion or Splatoon 2. I think I'm using the switch too often or something. But I'm watching for the sound and make a video.. I hope my switch is not broken. Thanks!

@Raizor3 LOL Even using the Switch for ridiculously long periods of time shouldn't cause it to do THAT. You really ought to schedule a repair or something before the problem turns into something that can't be fixed.

That's the exact kind of noise my PC makes when something's clogging up the fan on the CPU or GPU.

It's easy enough to fix on a PC by just opening it up and dusting it with a can of compressed air. Dunno if that's advisable on a Switch though.

It's dangerous to go alone! Stay at home.

@Raizor3 the Switch was designed to be played often for multiple years. So, I wouldnt say playing it a lot is abuse. It plays games still, so i wouldnt say you broke it, it might be more of a worn-out-fan kind of thing. Or internal dust accumulating causing the issue. But that's why I would can Nintendo. See what they say. They may say send it in for new fan, or repair.

As @Dezzy said, maybe Nintendo can tell you how to use canned air. But if you want to be cautious, talk to Nintendo first, or search switch support on Nintendo's website for directions.

@Woomy_NNYes thanks. Thought It would damage the console because I'm gaming to long. And on weekend or when i have free time. I'm gaming the whole day and night (would say 19 hours)

@Raizor3 based on that video, my switch makes a sound like that. If I power up the switch when it's undocked, sometimes my switch fan does a VERY noticeable turbo mode. It sounds and feels unnatural, and it can make you worry that something is wrong. (as far as I know, I think it's a normal issue that others have reported)

Mine never made the sound until after I had the Switch a while (months or a year+ old). And I had seen people complain about something like this before I mine did it the first time. Mine only does it temporarily, and I'm not sure if opening a game triggers it? When I say temporary, it does last long enough to make you think, "is it ever going to stop??" So, I think I've only seen this hyper turbo fan mode while undocked, and soon after powering on.

I've had a theory, that this hyper turbo fan mode works as designed to try and flush out dust. But, I'll admit, that could be a dumb theory But the hyper turbo mode does stop. As far as I know, if you talk to Nintendo, I think they'll say it's normal for some people to experience it. I can't remember if restarting the Switch gets rid of it.

So, it's your call if you want to talk to Nintendo.

In case you're curious about the condition of my Switch, I got my switch at launch. I've babied it. Usually play docked. It's got enough hours on it that I'm embarrassed to say it in public, at least 1000 (it's more). When I'm done using it for the day, I've always put the switch in a case, or drawer. I never liked how the top vent sits there for dust to settle in it. When not using the dock, I turn the dock on it's side so that switch docking plug doesn't accumulate dust & crud. I've always done those things hoping to prolong the console's life. I mean, it fits in a drawer easily, why not.
