Topic: Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate

I'm only in G1 but so far a lot of the monsters seem the same to me, only more attack, so...

Anyway, I think I’ve identified what’s putting me off of XX’s visual style. It’s got that really stark bloom from the original 3DS game, but hasn’t tuned it back for the remaster. Combined with the super deep shadows that can obscure hunter animations, that makes it hard to tell what’s going on from certain angles.

@Spoony_Tech we've known about the movie for a while, Resident evil director is doing it, story sucks, Rathalos roars like a Tigrex, etc.

@Tsurii I'm confused now. Anyway, as long as the content is mostly playable in singleplayer like the numbered games. I heard Gaijinhunter say that there weren't solo G rank quests, but maybe he was just explaining the separation of village and gathering hub quests in reference to World.

Yeah those quests are kinda tricky to explain, Advanced quests are basically a level higher than the level they appear on. Like if you get Advanced quests in low rank, they're High Rank, but they're not as strong as the hub's/online's or whatever.

Okay. Interesting, I wonder if they have the G rank exclusive moves.

But I digress. IIRC they added on another few ranks for the deviant ticket farming. I've been pretty zealous farming event tickets and crowns in World, but getting the Grimclaw set for fashion was a bit much. Hard to find people doing your level, but I eventually found a farming squad.

And it looks like they gave Nakarkos some new behaviors in G rank. I'm definitely looking forward to checking it out again, Squidward has such cool ecology.

@FattyWhale_42 @Tsurii I was going to wait for the new Pokémon or Fire Emblem before buying a Switch but with this news I’ll be getting one a lot sooner so count me in too

If Dark Souls Remastered gets released in August as well what are the chances of it hurting Monster Hunter sales if any? I didn't much care for generations but that might have been more from Monster Hunter burn out than anything. I've never played DS so for me it would be a hard decision if release dates are close together.

@Arcamenel I agree. I'm also going with DS as I've never played the series. MH will definitely be picked up but when will be the question. The only reason I would lean towards MH first is my son will also get to play it.

Well I did place my Pre-Order for Monster World Hunter Ultimate edition. So I'll see how that goes on the NS and it will probably be a hot seller.

I just got into G-Rank myself, so I don't know much about the high rank Advanced quests yet. And I heard a lot of the monsters from Gen didn't change much in G-Rank either. So I thought Nakarkos was the same as high rank, was I lied to? lol

Please tell me they finally gave Alatreon and Amatsu some new moves as well! lol

Y’know, this is the game that really could have used the training room. The styles’ unpredictable removal of moves and combo paths screws with my instincts and planning in the worst way.

I wonder, will we see a special edition for the game, or even a special edition Switch?

I hope they don't do an SE for the console itself. I can't afford stuff like that right now after dumping 5 digits worth of savings into precious metals. In fact I need to reel my purchases in the rest of the year.

But a special edition for the game would be great. I've got the MH4U special edition sitting right next to the MHW special edition and steelcase. Sure would be nice to add MHGU to the shelf. Or at the very least a steelbook. Oh my gosh that would look so good. But they'll never do that. Lucky to even see World get one, and that was hard enough to obtain (BB never sent mine for preordering, got a $20 gift card from cust service as an apology and ended up having to buy one off eBay).

Frankly the gripes are legitimate, and some can be traced back to vanilla Gen, like the irritating "every individual must post to level up" deviant system, or having so many monsters that can make room searching for anything that isn't the "meta" tough. (Still better than padding out a roster with SUBSPECIES if you ask me, and transmog can help otherwise ignored sets shine in their looks)

Basically, it's just a matter of "if you didn't like Generations for reasons other than the lack of G-Rank, this game likely isn't gonna change your mind".
