@Frosty_09 That's exciting! I wonder if it's the rumored PS4-exclusive open world Monster Hunter. If so, there should be a 'Portable 5th' coming to Switch in 2018, and I am in for all of it!
It could also just be a strange localization for one of the existing games, or the name of an open world or otherwise sequel on Switch. That rumor could be fake and the similarity in 'world' could be totally coincidental, watch Nintendo and Sony's pressers to see — chances are it'll show up at one of them.
I've got to say, this makes my E3 10 times more exciting!
@Haru17
I really have no interest in MH on another console. Obviously I'll play it wherever it lands, but unlike some others I'd much rather it be on Switch. Going multiplatform means casualizing the game and I don't want to see that happen. Furthermore, I'd rather have any game on Switch anyways, most of all Monster Hunter.

This thread is saying 'casualizing' far too often with far too little irony for my tastes. You haven't even seen the game yet and you're trusting the judgement of some 4chan user who knows a guy and plays World of Warcraft of all things. If Capcom wants to make a new and different Monster Hunter, be open to it. It'll probably be on Switch and 3DS regardless of all the noise.
@Haru17
As I said, I'll be "open" to it too. As I said, Ill buy and play whatever comes.
But that doesn't mean I support the idea of changing my favorite franchise to conform to western focus group studies. It doesn't mean I'm excited at the prospect. It doesn't mean I want to see it happen.
Above all, I want the series to continue as it is. Improvements can be made and have been made. And should continue to be made. But what I don't want is for them to churn out some mangled western representation of Monster Hunter. Because then if it sells, that's what they're gonna give us going forward.
Not that I believe rumors anyways. But I wouldn't put anything beyond Capcom.
edit
And even if it does come to Switch and 3DS also, that only makes the pill slightly easier to swallow.
@JaxonH Lol, Capcom makes something more satisfying than Dark Souls. I'm just saying be open to it. I don't think any melee action game can be very 'western,' seeing as most western melee combat systems are just a single button in a shooter. If they create all of the weapon animations again from the ground up it'll be like the long sword / great sword / bow gun / all the core weapons are brand new weapons again. That's what I want, I was never able to connect with the weapons after the Switch Axe, which was my main in Tri. Not to mention how Monster Hunter's mounting mechanic is already a QTE, and deserves to be improved.
@Haru17
Improving is fine. But changing the game to the extent rumored is a serious risk and something I'm not in support of.
What we heard was making the game open world (answer to every game nowadays, right?) and making it easier and simplifying systems. No. Just no.
People like my brother who don't understand the series are always saying things like " they should make it open world and monsters should have health bars and etc etc". Makes me facepalm every time I hear it. Sounds like those are the people that would be targeted.
I hope that never happens. Don't take my favorite game and westernize it for non-fans, removing all barriers of entry for people who aren't currently interested
