Topic: Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate

I just hope that with the Nintendo Online we can send friends messages like Lets Hunt!!

I think MK8 Deluxe, ARMS, Pokken DX, Mario Tennis Aces and MHGU/MHXX will be updated in September to support voice chat. Whether that ends up being the bad voice chat approach of Splatoon 2 or the better voice chat approach of Fortnite, not sure.

Been umming and aahing about this game, but this is intriguing me.

Look at the little Korok kitty, oh my gosh!

I never usually care about crossover content. In fact I can't think of a single piece of crossover content to date I actually cared about, although I did go out of my way to get the Link and Marth outfits in MH4U.

But this? Ohoho I need this. Not the Link outfit, but that Korok kitty! He's adorable!

Only crossover one I went for was Luna, lol
EDIT: Actually, in Generations I did go for the Yu-Gi-Oh one, because I needed a decent dragon weapon anyways. lol

Yeah it's annoying that Palicoes get all the fun, I was hoping for Sailor Moon's outfit to go along with Luna's, lol

One of the things that bothered me most about the crossover content armor is that it usually sucked or was low rank or had skills you just didn't care about.

BUT WITH TRANSMOG...

The metaphorical game has fundamentally changed. Every single armor pieces including DLC and crossover content will be able to be worn over your base gear. That, my friends, is what you call a game changer. Because in the end, we all know the game play hook revolves around fashion hunting 😉

They just need to get more videos on this game period. Monster Hunter is always a momentous occasion, and even if they are not hyping it to World levels, which I completely understand why they wouldn't, The very least they could do is give it the same attention that all previous games on 3DS got. Give it a special edition, maybe that special edition Switch, release a demo and throw a few trailers out there..

Just preordered MH Generations Ultimate and downloaded MHXX demo from Japanese store and need some help since I don’t know japanese language obviously..

Is there a “lock on monster” feature in this version like you could lock on monster on 3DS and get camera focused on it after pressing L1?
I’m hipped for this release from day I bough Switch one year ago. Well, I was hoping for brand new game for Switch but this is ok too I guess. It’s kinda wierd to play with pro controller on TV after MH4U 3DS but I’ll adopt.

Btw I skipped Generations on 3DS.. why people consider MHXX to be worse then MH4U? I mean, G rank is back and fighting stiles.. what’s so special about MH4U that makes it the best MH game on Nintendo?

@CroRock Every Monster Hunter game on Nintendo platforms that can do demos has gotten a demo before launch (even MH3U for Wii U) so I'd recommend just waiting a bit longer for an English demo to appear in your region's eshop rather than mess around with the Japanese demo. Should only be a week or 2 away from the demo release.

Well.. I’m very impatient person.. 😁 can’t wait for English demo but soon as it shows up I’ll download it too.
I’m so impatient that I’m thinking about buying MH World and borrowing PS4 from my brother in law but I don’t want to like it more then MH4U and then cancel my preorder for Switch.

MHXX is great, but I don't like it as much...One of the main issues I had was that even in Generations, it would throw WAY TOO MANY quests at you. Not only that but to me the Hyper monsters were mostly...the same exact monster but with more health and attack. It just got very tiring and repetitive to the point where I just stopped caring about the game. The Deviants were a similar issue, a lot of them were just the same as the original monster but with more health and attack...and a super powered-up move.

Thankfully the new deviants in Generations Ultimate are a lot more interesting, Rustrazor is one of my favorites since he fights quite differently from normal Shogun. Boltreaver...that was intense...both of my hands were shaking, I was on my last acorn/life, too. (Prowler, lol)

But yeah, the game gets way more repetitive compared to other games...they also gave 2nd generation way too much love when it comes to maps. I wanted Flooded Forest, or Sandy Plains, or some 1st generation maps...But nope...we get, the Desert (which isn't even that great compared to Sandy Plains or the Dunes) and the Jungle. (eh, at least I like that one)

Also Lao Shan-Lung is back...he's boring. lol

Also, want to point out that not all of the deviants were boring, just a handful of them. Ones like Grimclaw and Thunderlord are still fun to fight. Also I couldn't really tell if they updated Dreadqueen here, she seemed quite boring in Generations, lol

Generations had its flaws, some of which were noted above. But a lot of the things I didn't like about the game, they were the price paid for things I did like about the game.

For example, all the gathering quests (and there were a lot of them). But the reason there were so many is because there were just so many quests in the game period. So we got a ton of gathering quests, but we also got a ton of hunting quests and capture quests and event quests and other types of quests. And given that most of them were optional, I'm completely OK with that.

It also had some less interesting maps, but the reason for that is because it was a celebratory title that included maps from all 4 generations up to that point. So it was the price paid for such a wide diversity of maps and the opportunity to experience hunting in some of these maps from the earlier games that I never got to play. And given the sheer number of total maps in the game I am totally OK with that too, because even a less interesting map can become more interesting when it adds to the variety of maps you're actually playing. And there are just so many different locales that it never gets dull. I love how many different maps there are to hunt in.

The Shao Lung thing, that's just one monster so I never really gave any serious credence to that criticism. Out of the 93 monsters in the game, I'd rather have him in there than not, just for the sake of getting to experience such an iconic monster from the earlier games, even if he isn't all that interesting.

Lastly, there was virtually no story mode. A niggling complaint given the paper thin story of MH4U, but even a paper thin story can be nice at times just to give you a little motivation to keep going.

With those things said, I think I would almost rather have MH Gen Ult on Switch than an HD version of MH4U. Not only because it's a game that still has content I have not yet fully experienced, but because it made some forward strides not present in MH4U, it also has arts and styles and playing as a felyne, plus way more monsters and way more maps and way more quests. At the end of the day, the pros outweigh the cons, or at the very least cancel them out.

And the Fated Four and Valstrax are some of the coolest monsters ever added to the series. If any of those monsters had been in World, they would've been outrageously awesome. Nergigante was cool though- that was the one really awesome new monster from World.

In any case, MH Generations Ultimate is a unique entry in this classic series that shouldn't be missed. I think in time it will be looked back on fondly just because of so many unique gameplay features it offers that no other game has ever provided. And certainly because it's the first ever HD handheld Monster Hunter game, the first ever handheld Monster Hunter game to have a full button set and rumble, the first ever hybrid Monster Hunter where you don't need 2 consoles, 2 copies of the game and a save transfer app to switch back and forth between console and handheld, and it's the first Monster Hunter game where you can set your system up in table top mode, slide real controllers off of the system rails and play the game in legit console luxury anywhere in the world you go, complete with local wireless play and online of course.

I want MH4U Deluxe to happen, lol
4U in HD for Switch, uses 4U's story and all that, gives you Prowler mode and the updated Palico system (and fine, styles and arts, lol), as well content from Gen/GenU. I just liked that 4U had an actual story that wasn't "a giant monster appeared, go kill him", also the cutscenes are freakin' epic.

Ya, that would be pretty rad if they released an expanded and updated version. No reason not to if they already have assets and engine ported over to Switch for Gen Ultimate. It would probably take them less than six months.

And since it's going to take a while for a brand new game to be built ground up that would do well to fill the gap, although, I'm not sure how people would react to a port being the next game on Switch. I would be unequivocally thrilled, but I know how people get. Well. I shouldn't say how people "get". That implies there is some level of normalcy they start from and go back to. What I should've said is, I know how people are and will always be.

No idea, chances are the next game on Switch will be World Portable or whatever it'll be called.
But yeah, an expanded HD version of 4U, yes please. I was hoping to see Gog and Dala in HD...not to mention all of those cutscenes. Oh wellz.

I still like 4U better as well. While more options are always good I just thought Gen tried to do too much for combat and such.
