Topic: Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin

I'm gonna guess it'll be its own thing while referencing the first story here and there. (with returning characters of course....I want Avinia back. lol)

The amiibo for this game look really nice. Amiibo created from more cartoony/cel shaded characters always end up translating way better as amiibo.

They look almost identical to their in-game models:

The Rathalos armor set looks really tempting. I might bite for the version that's 10 dollars more, just for the layered armor set.

I normally don't grab amiibo these days, but that Razewing Ratha design looks pretty amazing. Looks like I'll be putting in an order! Shame it's a GS exclusive here. Most of the employees at my local branch are pretty decent, but I'm not fond of their corporate.

I hate when they make stuff gamestop exclusive honestly, especially because that means it's in limited quantity usually, and it means you have to go into the store to pick up the figure, due to them not delivering online..

Sadly, I no longer really bother with collectors editions or Amiibo, since Scalpers get to them before any other human being can.

I grabbed 2 of the MH Rise Collector Editions and 2 setd of amiibo, and I'll grab 2 of these and the amiibo as well. It seems to match the Rise CE and comes with similar stuff. So it'll look great side by side.

I'm so happy they're making this game. As if MH Rise wasn't already the most exciting game of the generation, they go and add this to the pot as well.

I'd argue the MH Rise amiibo also looked really good though. Much better than I was expecting

im a slow gamer. Im still in the middle of playing Monster Hunter Stories 1 while busy with other videogames.

Not going to have time to catch up on Monster Hunter Stories 2 when it comes out

@JaxonH Oh yeah for sure, the Rise amiibo look great! I especially love the palico amiibo. In general I think the quality of amiibo has gotten better over the years.

I'm really surprised Monster Hunter has received so many amiibo. I never expected a third party franchise to get 12 amiibo. Makes me happy to see though, amiibo are a great way to get affordable figures for franchises that otherwise might not have gotten any.

Technically 21 amiibo if you count the exclusive gold variants for MH Stories and MH Rise released in Japan. Only a few made though so I don't count them. Can't even get them on eBay they're so rare.

I'd sure love to have them though. That would be the motherboard of the MH collection

@JaxonH Wouldn't there only be 17? There were 3 gold amiibo made for MH Rise but MH Stories only had one gold and one silver given away. Either way, I don't really count the competition amiibo, similar to the gold splatoon amiibo, since they aren't feasible to have in a collection and they aren't really different figures anyway.

Was there only one gold and silver? I wasn't even aware of the silver. I thought they all got a gold like Rise amiibo.

But ya, as I said, I don't technically count them because they're so limited. Unless I could get my hands on them. Then I'd change my tune real quick. I have gold Mario, silver Mario, gold Mega Man, and maybe another I'm forgetting, not sure (Shovel Knight! That's what I was forgetting). Wanted gold Mega Man 11 amiibo but that's hard to get too.

I'm willing to pay fortunes untold if I could get those gold MH Rise amiibo

@Snaplocket I mean then it sounds like you didn't like the game, which is understandable, alot of people don't like rock-paper-scissors, combat, but I liked it, it made it still feel like monster hunter in some way, bc the point was to learn the pattern of the monster, and what move it would use the most, like mh you had to learn the monsters patterns.

It is! It's the one from the World collector edition.

I've got like 50-75 of the Figure Builder brand MH figures, but I just don't have room so I boxed them up. Here's everything I still have displayed though.

I'm actually not a big fan of the combat in the original, either. Hopefully Capcom refines it a bit.

@Snaplocket Kuro no Kiseki features both action-based combat and turn-based combat, so I don't think it's correct to say that it's moving away from turn-based.

@Snaplocket I've seen no evidence that action combat is a "focus" vs turn-based being an "afterthought." You're confusing your own biases with the intentions of the developers.
