Topic: Monster Hunter Rise

@JaxonH Unfortunately, my current laptop would struggle to run World; it can handle some indie games, but it really isn't built for anything too complex. I'm considering building my own PC for gaming and messing around with Unity down the line, but that isn't a huge priority at the moment. I think I'll test the waters with Rise first, but who knows? It might catapult me into other current and future MH entries.

Up close and personal is another reason why I'd prefer melee in MH. Gotta experience all these monster designs in their full glory! I'm definitely glad that the weapons I'm considering are decent starter weapons. Not sure which one I'll try to master first, but I tend to stick to something until I get used to it unless I really dislike the combat style.

I totally recommend scooping MHGU for that price (if you're interested), however, I think it may be best to wait for MH Rise and play that first. MHGU can be a tough nut to crack for new players. It's a phenomenal game. But it may turn you off from the franchise if it's your first.

But once you've played MH Rise, understand the mechanics and get the appeal of the gameplay hook, if you were to then go back and play MHGU, I think you'd absolutely love it.

I've given it a few days and I'm just not feeling the Magnamalo design yet. Maybe I'll change my mind when I fight it, but to me it feels like a bootleg Zinogre with a bulbous nose.

We've barely seen any gameplay of it yet. lol
At least wait until that. xD

I know, I'm just talking about the design lol. If it is anything like Zinogre I'm sure it will be a fun fight. But I think that's the root of my peeve with it. I feel like Zinogre was the samurai monster to begin with so this one just feels redundant to me.

the Magmamalo is pretty much a combination of a zinogre with a vajra from Gods Eater Burst. and just looking at at the thing, Im pretty sure youll make a samurai armor set from Magmamalo materials

I miss the old bird wyverns from Freedom Unite and Monster Hunter 3. the Queropeco and Hypnocatrice

When I first got into MH3U, and fought Qurupeco for the first time, it called a Rathian which scared the heck out of me. My friend tried to take it on, but I was too scared to get near it.

Next hunt it calls in Deviljho. Of course I'd never seen it before. My friend just said, "Dude... RUN!!!"

In Tri, Deviljho was my worst nightmare...in 3U he was just "meh" to me. He wasn't terrifying anymore until 4U's G-rank when I encountered Savage and Apex. >.<

The queropeco never was a problem since it called up smaller "boss" monsters.

It was the Brachydios that gave me some trouble the first time around though

@JaxonH That MHGU discount is definitely tempting. However, I think I'll follow your advice and stick with Rise for the time being. I'm not exactly hurting for games to play right now. XD

I mean....Gen U does give you the ability to hunt as a cat, so....there's that. owo

It’ll probably be a while before the hype cycle ramps up for this game. Likely after the holidays. Until then, we at least have MH World and MHGU to tide us over. I started over in MHW on PC since I migrated platforms, and need to play through the game again. Still in low rank.

It’s gonna suck waiting til March to play Rise, but... every day is one day closer to release. Let’s just hope they announce a MH Rise themed Switch at some point.

I can't get myself to play World anymore, I tried starting over some time ago and immediately lost interest. :c Don't even wanna bother getting Icebourne...the 3DS MH games I kinda want to play again, but...3DS. xD

As for GU, most of the quests I haven't completed yet are ones that I can't solo...and it's a pain to hunt online with friends now. >.<

Ah well, I got other games to play till Rise, I randomly got back into Disgaea 5. lol

Yeah I'm at the end of the game, so...I'm talking stuff like Deviant G5/EX quests and events...o.o

In Generations Ultimate , anyone just not do the regular Hub for online multiplayer?

Been trying to get others to join up for a Gold Rathian all night

I’m ok with a fishing quest, and an egg delivery quest, and all that kinda stuff. Key word- A fishing quest. I don’t mind having one obligatory type of each quest in the early game to teach you the mechanics. But after that they should all be optional. And, judging by MH World, that will likely be the case.
