Topic: Minecraft does not load on one profile but does on the other

Same console, one profile loads, the other doesn't.

I've updated all updates, bought a new cartridge, reset, turned around three times and did a rain dance.

I can play on the new profile but all my saved data and Switch Online Subscription is linked to this faulty profile.

It sounds like a fault with the profile, if that's even possible! Any help appreciated.

@Lsuui I'll take a guess. I wonder if a Nintendo Switch Online family plan ran out? If you had a family plan(or possibly a free trial) that ended, and you only paid for a single NSO subscription, then only one user profile can access online play (the user that bought the NSO plan).

Changing cartridges, or going from digital to cartridge, or cartridge to digital should have no effect. Since the game progress is stored on Switch internal memory, the Switch doesn't care where the game comes from, physical or digital.

I'm not sure you have a corrupted file problem,(unlikely, worst case scenario) but if that did happen, starting over would your only option. On very rare occasion a corrupted file can happen inexplicably to the best of us, but turning off the console while it's auto saving can corrupt a save file.

You can also ask minecraft support. https://help.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/requests/new

Thanks for taking the time to reply,
We have an active, fully paid up, single user NSO account, which works for other games (Inc Mario 8) but it's just Minecraft that ain't loading.

I could sign up for a new NSO account with a different email etc but thatv would be giving in to easily. Might look into a Family subscription.

This tells me it's a fault with the Minecraft/User link they're not talking to one another. I'll look at the link you sent me.

Thanks again

@Lsuui Some games can be played online without an NSO subsription. Mario Kart 8 doesn't need an NSO subscription. Free to play games can also be played online without an NSO subscrpiton.

However, most other games do require NSO to access the online features: Minecraft, Splatoon 2,

(I don't know if animal crossing needs an NSO sub, it may.)

Good to know, I did think it was a bit cheeky asking for more money to pay the game you had already bought!

It's not more but that's the nature of online gaming. Single grants only one player if you want multiple player you have to pay a family plan.

Was this ever resolved? Currently dealing with this same exact issue with my daughters switch and I'm not getting much response from either company.

@cmsemonco unfortunately this is a Microsoft support since they own the rights to minecraft to respond back. NL can't fix this at this point in time for software bugs.

@cmsemonco Looking at their profile page & history, @Lsuui hasn't been active since they made this thread. If their notifications are off, you may never hear from them.

Nintendo support does have a phone line, but if your issue is with the Minecraft game, Nintendo may point you to Minecraft support, which is a microsoft site, I believe.
