@JaxonH This is why I don’t believe the rumours of Wind Waker HD & Twilight Princess HD being packaged together. Makes no sense.

There was never a single credible leak for Windwaker or Twilight Princess, much less as a "double pack"

People who don't follow leaks hear rumors mixed in with info from illegitimate leakers mixed in with a few leaks sprinkled in from credible sources, and can't delineate which is which. To the casual onlooker, it's all the same.

But they're not. Prime Trilogy was a rumor of wishful thinking. Prime Remastered was a legitimate leak, now confirmed.

Skyward Sword was a legitimate leak, but nothing was ever said about WW/TP. Like the Prime Trilogy, it was just one of those, "well I want this and it seems to make sense in my mind, so obviously Nintendo's going to do it" and multiple content creators spread it around because they also wanted it and felt it "made sense". But there was never any actual evidence for it.

Maybe they'll remaster/port those games. Maybe they won't. A dual pack wouldn't surprise me, but again, there's no evidence for it, even if the games do exist (which there's also no evidence for). I would expect single releases if they do come, but I honestly don't know if they will. If they do, assuming Switch 2 doesn't release until spring 2025, it'll be late 2024 as filler until next gen. Cause once Tears of the Kingdom releases, it's going to be the focus for at least 12 months as the DLC rolls out. Meaning no other Zelda releases until summer 2024 at the earliest. And if next gen comes spring 2024, they'll launch with a TotK port, not those two games. If that happens it could be many, many years before we see them again.

@MarioBrickLayer My prediction is:

  • Summer/Fall 2023 - Metroid Prime 2
  • Early/Spring 2024 - Metroid Prime 3
  • Fall 2024 - Metroid Prime 4
  • Fall 2025 - Samus Returns remaster
  • Fall 2026 - Metroid 6

Where Metroid Prime 4's ending is the opening cutscene of Samus Returns.

...Poor Other M, everyone has forgotten about it. TwT
I liked it, lol.

Only issue I had with that game was the controls and a couple of areas in the game, other than that I was fine with it. (oh yeah, the main ending was crap, but at least the secret final boss was alright, lol)

I hope you are wrong and a Trilogy pack is in the works. If not they should go and announce when we may expect the other two games to finish this story arc. I’m 100% convinced we won’t see Prime 4 until the others are out.

Let's take a moment to appreciate the fact Switch now boasts the, arguably, best 2D Metroid ever made and the best 3D Metroid ever made. The two best Metroid games, modern and glorious, on a hybrid handheld OLED.

My my how times have changed since the Wii U era. Even despite that system having the Trilogy, it never felt like a boon considering it was just the old sub-HD Wii version with awkward controls. The Prime games desperately needed HD uplift and modernized controls. I remember trying to get a friend into Prime with that Trilogy off the eShop and they dropped it after an hour because of the controls. Now they'll probably never try the series again. It's so sad. They're missing out on one of the best video games of all time.

@GameOtaku
I'd love to be wrong too, but I very, very seriously doubt I am with respect to a trilogy.

I could see the other two dropping before Prime 4, if and only if they found a competent external studio to subcontract them out to. Now that the groundwork has been laid, another studio should, in theory, be able to use the same engine and control schemes, but they'd still need to create new textures and lighting (and new model geometry in some cases).

The leak says they pitched remastering all 3 games to Nintendo, who approved it. But that was before they were awarded Prime 4. Once that happened a year later, they'd no longer have the resources to commit to remastering all 3 games. We're lucky they even managed to get 1 done with their main focus on Prime 4.

But perhaps Iron Galaxy Studios, who assisted, can take up the mantle and finish the other two. I can't express how much I need Echoes remastered like this.

I just got the Spiderball and... wavebuster? I don't remember the wave buster. Then again, it's been 2 decades since I last played this game through to completion. It feels like a brand new game to me, as I don't remember hardly any of it. All I remembered was the landing site, the general atmosphere of Chozo Ruins, and a glimpse of the artifact location. That's it. Trailers show more than that.

I have no idea what wavebuster does. It seems to have replaced my super Missile thingie though.

Yeah the other beam types got their own "super" attack, Wave is my favorite, lol
Basically latches onto an enemy and constantly drains them, all of those weapons uses missiles, though.

EDIT: I changed my mind, this game sucks, I hate it, 0/10, would play again.

At least the one you missed is near the end, I had to go back to the deepest parts of Phazon Mines to find one of them last time I played it.

It's just, I looked at all the areas and wasted more than an hour trying to find it, and it's the freakin' one that's behind my ship. xD

EDIT: What in fresh hell? Yeah okay don't upload a clip of the secret ending of this game on twitter apparently, or your account gets suspended for 12 hours....INSTANTLY. I hate twitter.

@JaxonH Thinking about the timeline, Metroid Prime 1 remaster has been rumoured since 2019 and I saw something over the weekend saying it was rated in 2021? Hopefully someone internally at Nintendo had a look at it, realised how good it was and said lets give Metroid Prime 2 and 3 the same treatment. If that's all true, they could have Metroid Prime Remaster complete by now and they could be working on 3. It would be amazing to have all three at the same standard.

If the above is correct, not sure what that would mean for the timeline of release, and when we get Metroid Prime 4.

StarPoint

@MarioBrickLayer Very interesting. I figured that Nintendo was sitting on this game for a while, but I had no idea it had been for that long. I do hope that this means they've been working on Prime 2 and 3 for a while as well.

@StarPoint I hope so! The work completed is excellent, I'd like to think there was a presentation back to Nintendo and they were so impressed they agreed to pay for Prime 2 and 3 getting the same treatment.

If it was rated in July, it would have been tested for a number of months so in theory they could have had two years (up to now) to work on the other two.

@MarioBrickLayer
If you read the leak I posted, Nintendo already approved all 3 games to be remastered from the start.

The issue isn't them being greenlit- that's already happened. The issue is after they were greenlit, they were awarded Metroid Prime 4, and that will have affected their plans. It's one thing to squeeze out a single remaster with help from multiple outside studios while also working on Prime 4. It's quite another thing to put out three remasters while trying to work on Prime 4.

Hence my conclusion that the only way we're getting the other two games is if they found a reliable outside studio to sub-contract them to, to follow the blueprint laid down by the first remaster.

@JaxonH That makes sense. What I'm not getting across very well is, the original plan for Prime 2 and 3 was for a more basic upscaled port, rather than a complete graphical rebuild - this has been discussed by a few different "insiders". But, if someone at Nintendo saw how good Prime 1 was in 2021, or maybe even late 2020, there would be enough time between then and now to change the plan for Prime 2 and 3 from an upscaled port to a Prime 1 level remaster.

MarioBrickLayer

JaxonH

@MarioBrickLayer
No, it wasn't. Idk where that rumor came from but it's not true.

The plan was never basic HD ports. The leak clearly states the plan was always to remaster them just like the first.

The whole "HD port" thing has always been speculation that got carried away to the point ppl started thinking that's what the leak said, but that's not what it said.

@Colonel_Mustache @JaxonH That's what I have seen too. Jeff Grubb was right about Metroid Prime 1. As I said, I hope someone at Nintendo saw the quality of the work done on Metroid Prime 1 and with the time they had to play with decided to change the plan for Prime 2 and 3 and did a similar quality of job.
