@Bolt_Strike: I for one am glad that Nintendo is taking the risk of making a "core" and proper 3D Mario game rather than yet another hybrid. It's time to teach new people what 3D Mario used to be.
You're not getting what I mean by "hybrid", I mean something that appeals to both linear platforming fans and exploration fans, which is something Nintendo has never done, not like 3D Land and 3D World which were basically just NSMB in 3D and had no exploration elements whatsoever.
@KirbyTheVampire The only reason I would even think it is because we don't really see any enemies there. It could be a lot like what they did with Sunshine. Now I think there was a boss but other then that it just looks like a plain old city with people so why not make it a hub?

If I was only ever able to have Monster Hunter and EO games in the future, I would be a happy man.
You know, I wonder how many people will tune in for Bowser and Peach's royal wedding? There seem to be plenty of people in New Donk City who would be willing!
Speaking of New Donk...It makes me wonder how DK himself had his name applied to a city....
Currently playing: Pokemon Scarlet DLC, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury (Switch)
@Spoony_Tech Those tank enemies are also in New Donk City, and you can also see Goomba in a scene. There are definitely enemies. Although, yes, it's a unique setting, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was a hub world, especially considering New Donk City is by far the smallest world we've seen so far. The other levels seem to be a lot bigger. On the other hand, we've also seen at least one boss fight, and there are Bowser flags all around the city, just like in the other levels.
Yeah, after seeing the trailer this immediately shot up to my most anticipated game of the year. Between this and Yooka Laylee, this is going to be a great year of 3D platforming.
Jesus is the only way.
It's OK to have an opinion. This ain't the Soviet Union you know. Letterboxd Youtube Channel
Maybe you are right about the city. It did give me a big impression though, but that may be because of the skyscrapers that you can climb. This is probably the world you start of in (Nintendo's version of Brooklyn), and then you fly of to different worlds. I didn't see any coins though, am I blind?
@Henmii I highlighted a row of four coins. There's also a crate that you can undoubtedly smash for more coins. A little bit to the right you can see two purple collectibles that can also be seen in other levels. Then there are the ?-traffic lights, of which I'm pretty certain that they will also give you coins when you hit them. And if you look all the way to the right, you can even see a Bowser checkpoint flag like this one, except a Bowser flag instead of a Mario flag.
@Henmii They're coins, you can see them in other parts of the video too. And in motion you can clearly see they're spinning around. Uploading images doesn't do the resolution any favour, can be difficult to tell from the image alone, but I can guarantee you, those are coins.
