That said? I do hope we get all of Tour's unique courses in this pass so I can play them with working controls. Ideally, the courses will switch between variants with each lap, but I'd take even a single variant of each.
I think they merged all variants of the Tokyo course. At last I saw a comparison video where the DLC version(parts from the trailer) didn't match the original anymore. But I'm not entirely sure.
@Rambler hahaha<333 Yoshi Circuit 200cc is TRICKY. I spent most of my time struggling with first section, from the starting line to the tunnel. Screwing up the jump through the falls (landing in water, or hitting the wall/guardrail, or entering the tunnel way too fast and hit the wall. Anyway, lining up the mushroom shortcut through the falls definitely took a bunch of trial and error. I have the best success if manage to tap the brakes & turn the kart right before I use the mushroom.
You know, I've realized, that build with the Azure Rollers, has a downside on Yoshi Circuit and it's tight complex turns. It can build up a purple boost, more speed than you want, especially if you're dragging the brakes trying not to go too fast.🤣
Here's lap 1 of a run I just did, that might be easier to replicate. I used a build that doesn't build up boost as fast, and I don't jump that gap at turn 2. I chose Standard Wheels because they don't build up boost as fast as the little roller wheels. Standard Kart may also contribute to building up boost slower than Biddy Buggy. (Regarding the in-game stats, that build with Biddy Buggy and the little roller wheels, has the maximum stats for building up boost the quickest (as I understand it), which means getting the more powerful purple boost easier. Which is good for most tracks, but tough to keep tame for tighter turns of Yosho Circuit. The tiny bike Mr. Scooty has the same stats as Biddy Buggy, but may turn a little different)
I got a 1:32 on this. I was going to post one of the other laps that was more flawed, but then it doesn't show a more optimal line, like for entering the tunnel. I had to do like 10-15+ attempts before I got this run, just in case anyone thinks I do runs this well all the time. But to me, the challenge is fun. (I really nail the line into the tunnel here. It usually doesn't go that well. I often have to slam and hold the brakes hard to avoid hitting a wall entering the tunnel.)
Some people have commented on the graphics of the new tracks not being quite as up to par as the base game. I understand where people are coming from since MK8D is generally a fantastic-looking game. But graphics in Mariokart don't really matter to me. My favorite game in the series is still Mariokart Wii, and the graphics in that game never bothered me, even though they are a little duller compared to other entries.
It really boils down to gameplay for me. As long as the tracks play as well as they did in their base games respectively, with a little extra MK8D gimmick, I'll be happy.

Currently playing:
Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition (Switch)
Balatro (PC)
Ok, it's done. I've placed times for all tracks on MK8D 150cc & 200cc.
(correction, I don't have Mount Wario. It'll go work on that now. OK, Now they're all done.)
There's maybe two staff ghosts I haven't been able to beat. They're hard af.
Toads Turnpike 200cc
Music Park 200cc
@Grumblevolcano Unless they really bedazzle them up, I'm not too keen to see SNES tracks come back. They are just so much more.... meh than literally every other track in the series.

@Grumblevolcano I do think we'll see 3DS probably overrepresented by the end of this pass. Since they've already ported basically every track in 7 to Tour, they're low hanging fruit.
@Fizza If they take aspects from the R/T versions in tour, at least it might make them more interesting to drive on.
If you look closely at Coconut Mall, you can see some new signs/advertisements that say Vanilla Lake and Dino Dino Jungle on them, This probably means that these will be in the DLC
@link3710 It could act as part of the 3DS/Wii U shutdown plan. With the 3DS and Wii U eshops being shutdown next year, the online servers for games on those platforms may also be shutdown around the same time. Microsoft gave people just over 2 months warning for the original Xbox online game servers being shut down in 2010 and Nintendo gave people just under 2 months warning for the Wii/DS online game servers being shut down in 2014 so Nintendo could easily make a 3DS/Wii U online game servers shutdown announcement in early 2023.
I had a question if you guys don't mind answering. I played MK8 when it first came out on switch and had to unlock a lot of stuff, but don't think I unlocked all of it. I stopped playing it so I sold it a few years ago. I just bought it again (using a different account) and all the drivers/karts/tracks are unlocked. Is this a new feature? Did they just make everything available without the need to unlock?
Also any recs for Koopa Turtle kart/wheel combo? Speed and handling is the priority.
@JesseA I can confirm that when you buy MK8 now(or start a new game save file?), yes, all characters are unlocked from the start. You might have to unlock the Mii character. All tracks are available, I think - including mirror and 200cc. You still unlock parts with coin collecting, though.
The little roller wheels have the highest handling stats. There's the red and a blue option, both have same stats. I'm not sure any other wheels match their handling. If they do, I think their stats suffer somewhere else, so I never use others if I want best handling. Slim wheels are next best for handling, I think? Some other wheels may have similar handling stats as the Slims.
Each kart has it's own handling stats.
If your on the parts selection page, obviously you can hit + to see the stats. Smaller characters tend to have higher handling stats.(don't hit + on the kart selection page, the game will just make you re-sync your controller, for some reason)
So about the DLC beeing in Online matches. I don't know if this is clear but, they only appear if you choose "Random" when choosing a map in the World Wide and Regional lobbies.
I thought they were appearing normaly at the 3 maps you can choose. I think many misread the English one. I read the German small print on the Eshop. There it says they only appear in "Random" at the track selection.
Hope that means there is a DLC only mode online with randoms. Playing them offline is boring and hoping they will apear randomly online is not really great.
@Budda I don't think how the game works is changing. If you don't buy the dlc tracks(or have an NSO expansion pass subscripton), you'll only encounter the new tracks randomly when racing online, like it's always been; The game always randomly decides your track options between races. Starting march 18, everyone will start seeing the new tracks randomly peppered into online racing.
If Nintendo split the online user base into two smaller pools, dlc-owner group and non-dlc-owner group, that would hurt the online racing experience.
@WoomyNNYes
Sorry my text was a little confusing to read.
The German text explicitly says that they appear in "Random" of the course selection. Random is in quotation marks in this text. They mean the 4th option when selecting a course Online with randoms.
