I think that the next Mario kart should not have downloadable content, but everything on the game when you buy it. I would suggest making the game have 48 tracks. I would also suggest having a game with all the Mario kart tracks from past games. I would even suggest having a build track mode, where you can use different tools, track pieces like boosts, hang glider ramps, scenery, environment, obstacles, turns, loops, walls to drive on, and etc. I have seen Nintendo make a game called super Mario maker, where people could make their own levels, I saw a wii racing game, where you could make your own tracks, and an old computer game called lego stunt rally allowed you to make your own track. I would also suggest making new battle modes like elimination, where you could shoot someone with an item, and they would lose right away. Another battle mode I would suggest is elemination tournaments with brackets for battle modes. I would like this Mario Kart to be the ultimate Mario kart with all the battle modes including bomb-omb blast, shines thief, coin runners, balloon battle, and the other modes I suggested. I would like the tracks from every Mario kart on the gane including the new tracks. I hope you will take my suggestions!
I think item-stacking would be too RNG-heavy if the item boxes were still randomized. Day/night cycles would be a great addition though, Animal Crossing took good advantage of that.
@AJTstormfear59 No Mario Kart 9. Nintendo Kart. Or Super Smash Kart. Whatever the name, the idea is to expand the roster of playable characters beyond the traditional Mario list. Pikachu, Samus, etc. We already saw Link, the Inklings, and Isabelle get added. I'd also love for tracks themed after the different IPs and new items as well.

@Anti-Matter Personally I think some of those ideas would break the game or add nothing, but I like the night/daytime idea!
Maybe the time of day would just be randomly selected for each track and certain routes would only work at certain times, such as anti-gravity sections using solar energy to work, so they wouldn't function at night. It could add variety and strategy! Maybe a Sand Kingdom course that would be hot during the day but had ice and skeletons at night?
A Shine Sprite and Power Moon item could also be rarely given the driver in last place to change the time of day, making it difficult for those at the front because of the changes?
Just some ideas that's all

Terrible ideas. Just terrible, all of them. To front load 48 tracks would mean no one would discover favorites and learn the tracks well. It would also mean poor game design because they won't be able to test and balance all tracks as much as they should. Old tracks won't be balanced to the new driving mechanics. Making your own tracks has similar problems, with exaggerated tracks being the norm. Battle modes will only expose a shallow fighting mechanic that doesn't work outside the context of racing. I hope you will take my criticism well and re-think your ideas.
There is one key format for video games in this day and age: Mario Kart needs a battle royale mode. I suspect the internet would break if it was 100-1, but I'd love to see how many players they could squeeze into a single - shrinking - arena. I'd play it, and I don't even particularly like racing games.
New features :
1. Transformable vehicles. Imagine your kart can transform into a motorbike or an ATV transform into aeroplane, etc.
2. Levitate vehicles, just like Chocobo Racing.
3. Stack Up same items into Level Up items. Imagine you stack 2 Green Shells = 1 Red Shell, 3 Green Shells = 1 Blue Shell
4. Customable every single Vehicles part, from wheel, body, bumper, horn, etc.
5. More specific Mii costumes customize. Also, same things with Mario characters.
6. Two different time setting for each tracks. Imagine playing SNES Rainbow Road at Day or at Night for different sensation.
7. Cutomize your tracks, just like Modnation or LABO Motorbike.
8. Link with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Save Data to unlock All 48 tracks in Mario Kart 9 style.
These are much better ideas. I like the one with transformable vehicles, since it adds complexity to the racing. You could race a light vehicle, then come by an obstacle like a bricked over tunnel, then you could change to a battering ram and go though the tunnel.
1. Double Dash style mode. Give the handling of the two character karts a distinct feel and include some exclusive items.
2. 24 brand new tracks 8 classics dlc would be all classics. That way day one you have all the new tracks and for those who want to play old tracks again the option is there but without affecting those who want new.
3. More Super Mario characters but limit the inclusion of non Super Mario characters to two or three. Karts inspired by other franchises would be okay but not to many.
4. Diddy Kong Racing style over world might be cool.
I loved the Double Dash game where you stack up items. One of the very best Mario Kart games made.
I think Mario Kart 8 changed too much though. I do not care for underwater driving or upside down or on sides of the walls. Scrap all that and get back to what made Mario Kart great in the first place.
Lots of fun tracks
Fun small battle mode tracks (more like SNES and N64)
Unlockables are a must. MK8 did a good job with that.
Online stats leaderboard. Coins collected, racers hit, races won, ect.....
Instead of randomly unlocking new vehicles and parts when you reach a certain coin total, they should have a shop where you can purchase whichever of them you want by paying with coins. That's a much more sensible system.
Also, agreeing with the idea that they need a Double Dash mode. The Switch is begging for it with the two controller scheme.
I think a campaign would be great traverse through different ares like mario areas to space to whu hoo island form wii sports resort conquering challenges acquiring new parts and characters.
i want mario kart ultimate, every past track and character available. but i think it should stay “mario kart”, trust me i love zelda more than anything but link does not belong in mario kart. it is MARIO kart. i wouldn’t care too much for “nintendo kart”. sounds like one of those old arcade racing games.

This is something I didn't know I wanted until now

My biggest wish for a future Marto Kart 9: Bring back the missions! I liked them so much in Mario Kart DS that I consider it the best Mario Kart, and I was disappointed that they dropped the missions in Mario Kart 7. Having unlockable missions gives the player a nice additional purpose that goes beyond just trying to finish the race first.
How about a repeat of smash
Every Track ever from all mario kart games(including arcade ones)
Every Charcter ever from all Mario Kart (also 3rd parties)
NEW(Pac Man,Sonic,Mega Man,Banjo,Fire Emblem,Kirby,and pokemon,Star fox,and F-zero)
A story mode image you get to race each one of the new comers in a story based mode.
it will have a cup based on each series.
amiibo uses all of them.
a track maker
call it Mario Kart X
1080p 60fps on switch in dock and 720p/60fps with a labo mode

@andrew20 great idea. A Mario Kart "Ultimate"! I personally think it should be a platform that is updated consistently for a number of years like other racing games do. All MK8D really needs to improve is more tracks/arenas/characters etc. Perhaps a proper campaign as well.
I don’t think that they should keep on adding too many more non-Mario characters if they are going to keep the series name ‘Mario Kart’. If they do, it might as well be called Nintendo Kart or something else, but I’d rather they just kept Mario characters.
There are still other Mario characters that they can add.
