@Octane Sooo, Galaxy can be played without the need of any motion controls on the Nvidia Shield in China, but Nintendo couldn't work out a way to do that with the Switch.

@BlueOcean The more I am hearing about this collection, the more upsetting it is becoming. But just look at all the people on the internet getting way hyped up over it. That says all you need to know. It will make big bucks, Nintendo can go to their investors and say "Look at all this money we made" and they can repeat the process in 2021 with the Zelda anniversary.

@veeflames @FragRed Yeah. The Wii Remote is a bit weird, but surely a controller has more buttons, right?

@BlueOcean Look at both images on this page, they literally say that separate Joy Con are required if you want to play this on a Switch Lite.

@Octane The image is not visible, can you post a link to that US eShop description?

I reckon it's just for co-op the detached Joy-con are needed. The description on the Eshop says the touchscreen is partially supported in Galaxy, I'm assuming that's for collecting Star bits? And that 2 player mode is not available in Handheld mode.

If only NL could do their job instead of posting some dumb article on how the Eshop looks.

Copied from the UK site:

All three games are optimised for Nintendo Switch with updated Joy-Con controls – including rumble! You can also use Joy-Con controllers to mimic the original Wii Remote motion controls** when playing Super Mario Galaxy.

**To make use of Joy-Con features on Nintendo Switch Lite, a Joy-Con pair is required and the Nintendo Switch adjustable charging stand is recommended. A device to recharge Joy-Con controllers, such as the Joy-Con charging grip, will also be required. For more information, visit the Nintendo Switch Lite website.

Another one of the descriptions on the UK site says:

"Mario blasts off on an intergalactic quest to help Rosalina and save Princess Peach from Bowser’s assault of astronomical proportions. Defy gravity and hop across planets with optional motion controls, or pass a Joy-Con controller to a friend for some extra help in Co-Star Mode!"

It's dangerous to go alone! Stay at home.

@veeflames I'm not sure how the Galaxy port on the Nvidia Shield is handled but I've read it plays well, so there must be a simple solution.

@BlueOcean That does sound different.

So is NoA just communicating poorly about this? Very weird.

@BabyYoshi12 If this has been rumored since the literal start of the year this was clearly in development far before when fans were made aware of it. They had the simple job of making a remastered collection of 3D Mario titles and they couldn't even do that without major caveats. It's not nearly as enticing in execution as it is in concept

@Dezzy post puts it to rest. Motion controls are optional, so it can indeed be played in handheld.

I can stop shaking my head now.

@TheFrenchiestFry Well, it’ll be a good game, right? So why not just play it and enjoy it and not complain about it?

Heigh Ho Heigh Ho. It’s off to work (from home) I go.

@status-204 @Ralizah The American site also has the asterisk on the screenshot posted by @Octane, though.

PLEASE let the spin attack motion gesturing be optional. It'd be such a stupid thing to make it mandatory.

Currently Playing: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (NS2); Corpse Factory (PC)

Octane

That's backwards communication indeed.

So does this confirm that the spin attack is mapped to a button in Mario Galaxy?
