Just finished the "Red Coins on the Water" mission in Ricco Harbor after 2 tries. And that was one of the hardest missions for me...it's basically just a timing thing for getting the Shine.

You know, I realized I've NEVER accessed Big Boo's Haunt until now. Probably because I could never figure out what to do with all of those ghosts in the courtyard, lol.
It's a lot less annoying than the ghost houses in SMW, thankfully. And I can kinda see why that piano would have freaked people out back in the day.
@Adnanilyas21 Yeah, I'm really looking forward to playing Galaxy after 64.
Currently Playing: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (NS2); Corpse Factory (PC)
@Apportal Yeah, that mission was REALLY tough the first time I played it, so it was a little bit easier on repeat playthroughs. It's basically a matter of grabbing the red coins the moment you see it while making sure you're not gonna bump into anything. Or you could be familiar with how the red coins are placed, then plan a route for grabbing them. The timer does stop when you get all of them.
The timer wasn't the hardest part for me honestly, it's getting to the Shine Sprite. It's an all-or-nothing scenario - if you bump into the dock, it's back to square one. Get to the dock at just the right distance, then tap the jump button. That's how I finished it.

I got 100 coins easily in Bianco Hills and Isle Delfino, but the others are very difficult. I got up to 80-something coins in Pinna Park but died by the Electric Koopas of all things. 15 minutes of my life wasted
Anyone think the red coins star in the first world of Sunshine is a total drag? More so the part where you have to get that fat woman to throw you on the roof or the cliff, but with no real accuracy leaving you to more or less hope for the best. I did it, but that one really left a sour taste and I haven't touched the game since.
@Dezzy You unlock them in Delfino Plaza when you have 25 and 30 shine sprites. Turbo nozzle is at 25 shines, and the rocket nozzle is at 30 shines. However, it may be possible that you need to unlock Yoshi first. Beat the fourth episode in Pinna Park, and you will unlock Yoshi, you will also unlock the nozzles that way.
Yeah it was Yoshi that did it. I'd never got that far when I played it back on the Gamecube, so I didn't even know Yoshi was in the game!
@Tendo64 The red coin missions in general suck. I appreciate one every so often but slamming them in my face every other level drags the game HARD. Most of Sunshine is hoping for the best now that I think about it
I have to say I really liked Jolly Roger Bay in 64. First time I can say I felt relaxed in 64, it's such a generally chill world (annoying eel mission notwithstanding). Only thing I'll say is that it needs to be more open on when you need a transformation in order to get a Star, as I spent way too much time trying to get the Jet Stream Star, not realizing until I looked it up that you need access to Metal Mario first (I kept trying to use the Koopa Troopa shell since it didn't seem to have any other use here, though it kept giving out just before I got to the jet stream, so I wasn't sure what I was missing).
Anyhow, I got all the other Stars in the world, plus three Secret Stars (the Aquarium one, Red Coins in first Bowser level, and basement Rabbit), for a total of 31, and I just beat the first Bowser level.

@RR529 That happened to me when I was a kid, there was no YouTube or anything. On this thread, people ask how many times do they have to throw King Bob-omb after throwing him once and before throwing him thrice...
I don't mind the blue coins as much as a lot of other people do. It's hard to keep track of them, and most of the time they're completely random and frustrating, but finding a ton of blue coins in a row has such a good feeling to it. I believe I've got 4 shines so far. Just 20 to go
