May I ask one weird question again. Do you know of any process that would make a joy-con's color look paler? Without changing the shell, or pasting stickers on it. I thought of exposure to the sun, but I guess it would take years, and that might damage the joy-con as well. So I don't know.
@Thrallherd Oof. Not sure what to tell ya. That difference you see in the pics you shared could be light source and post processing photo editing releated. Also, the answer will party depend on how colorfast nintendo's joycon plastic is.
The sun could fade the colors, but I'm not sure how the electronics or plastic & buttons would hold up. Sunlight would be bad for the rubber on the analog sticks.
If you want the sun to fade them, I'd take the shell off the joycons to leave them in the sun. But, who knows how long it would take to fade them as much as you'd want. It might take a ridiculous amount of time.
I can't help think about youtube videos I've seen where people paint plastic & distress plastic nerf guns, or toy guns, to look like real guns from Star Wars or for cosplay. The issue there is, the labor and wondering how durable the paintjob would be.
You may want to search how to custom paint joycons.
I mean, I guess itās hard to do it naturally without taking off the shell or adding a sticker to it. You could try using something to rub it off (I know they can at least get a little bit of wear by using them a lot) or you could even try painting a thin layer of white or a lighter color of your jc. The paint (mainly acrylic) would make it feel chalky and rub off easily unless you put modge podge or another kind of sealant on it.
