Topic: If you could own just 3 games on Switch...

Shoot, thanks for telling us that... that happened with Splatoon 1 this year. I like the story modes in the Splatoon games, but most of my play time goes into the online modes, which have always been the biggest part of Splatoon. I'll redo my list.

1) Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
2) either Super Mario Odyssey or Super Mario Bros. Wonder
3) Animal Crossing: New Horizons

@MarioVillager92 I mean... it's inevitable the Splatoon 3 servers will die someday, but presumably not until well into Switch 2's lifetime and also after Splatoon 4 is out. This question specified Switch, not Switch 2 so just upgrade when the time comes. 😝

Pretty confident on this one, surprisingly. Like the only games I'd put on the same level for me are Mario Odyssey, Sonic Mania, Link's Awakening remake and MAYBE Great Ace Attorney collection. Which is in order, game I'd have liked more if I had played 20 instead of 40 hours of, short game, gameboy remake and only one of the two games puts this on remotely the same level as the rest of my choices, so again, pretty confident on those three.

@FishyS Lol, yeah you're right, it's just for the current Switch. Makes perfect sense that the servers will still be around before Splatoon 4 becomes a thing.

I feel like that combo gives a ton of variety in gameplay, replay value, online opportunities, and good ol' fashioned fun.

No Man's Sky: because of the procedural generation and countless updated they've added, you can play this for thousands of hours and still see and do new things.

Fire Emblem Three Houses: my favourite narrative game on the Switch, the alternate story paths, dozens of cool characters and different difficulty modes give this tons of replayability.

Tetris Effect: it's Tetris, who would ever get bored of that? Plus the various single and multiplayer modes and the synaesthetic presentation make this the most interesting version of Tetris there is, so you're even less likely to get tired of it.

Fire Emblem Three Houses, Capcom Fighting Bundle (you can buy it as one game so I am counting it as one), Hyrule Warriors AoC.

Xenoblade Chronicles 1, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and Xenoblade Chronicles 3. That series is one of the only Nintendo IPs I even really care for anymore.
