@DefHalen Decrease obviously if I'm suggesting they put lower spec hardware into the portable function of it. They can't possibly get away with putting in a SD screen into there pad again if they wish to distance that concept from the Wii U. Touch screens on consoles is apparently the direction they're heading so this makes sense.
You aren't going to get a $300 portable system as powerful as a PS4 or Xbox One, especially with a HD screen.
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...
@skywake Okay, so what if the Pad screen was 720p HD max? Think that would work?
Well I'll put it this way. NVidia's Shield Console is the most powerful "mobile" device on the market these days. The thing is actively cooled and comes in two SKUs. $200US for the 16GB flash model, $300US for the 500GB HDD model. It basically matches the spec of the Wii U. Could they turn that into a portable? Yes, you'd have to put up with average battery life and it'd cost a bit more than that because of the cost of screens etc... but yeah, sure, why not.
But you're not talking about Wii U spec. You're talking about matching the PS4. That is not at all even remotely possible let alone at ~$300US RRP. And not only that but you're talking about using HD screens on the thing. Which will only push the price up and chew the through the battery even more. It's not going to happen.

I want the NX to be the next step in Motion Controls. The controller can play just like Wii Remotes (so easy Wii VC implementation) but it is also better sensors and more buttons. Maybe those break apart controllers you see people talk about, where it looks like a normal controller but it can break into two pieces and do motion controls. And possibly something that doesn't require a sensor bar, that way the console doesn't need to be close to the TV, which is part of the reason the Wii and Wii U were designed so small.

Looking at how far cell phone come you can get alot of power from such little devices. The SD820 should be a beast in both cpu and GP if it avoids the overheating 810 issue (I think it will. 180 was stock from ARM, 820 is custom cores). Nvidia's chips are powerhouses but drain too much juice. Hell, even Intel's x86 cores are approaching acceptable battery drain... for tablets at least.Given that the device will have to be larger then a phone for extra battery space, smaller screen then a tablet and be dedicated hardware, games should look amazing! I can see a 400$ phablit-controler hybrid "approching" the graphical capabilities of the XBone. Unfortunately I don't think this will win back the x86er 3rd party, even though new engiens scale from pc to phone. I can see this attracting the hoards of mobile devs like GAME LOFT flocking to the system which may inturn draw more support as the x86er devs rush to not get left behind
Yeah I'd be up for a Wii remote 2.0. I want Nintendo to try to innovate more through software rather than hardware. You don't need some wonky controller to innovate
Nintendo said this is going to be a "brand-new concept". So I don't think it's very likely we'll be able to guess what Ninty will cook up next. They march to the beat of their own drum. Did anyone predict the Wii or the DS or the Wii U or 3DS?

Well people expected the Wii to be what the Wii U turned out to actually be. Before the Wii Controller was shown, people were expecting it to be a touch screen. Not sure if that counts.

@WebHead: Software innovation does not happen without hardware innovation. The Wii and the DS challenged developers to think in different ways about their games, and have them make best use of the available hardware, and so led to innovative games. Nintendo may very well have gotten stuck in a creative rut had they not done something different with their consoles.
@Bowser908: bullcrap it doesn't. Have you seen some ps3 and 360 games that were innovative yet used standard control. Plus GameCube had some innovative/unique games with standard controls as well.
@WebHead: What I'm saying is, there's only so much you can do until without new ideas in hardware to spice things up, games will eventually become boring and uninspired. Look at the Playstation and Xbox lineup now. The Wii and DS allowed developers to make different games that could not work on other platforms with a "standard" control scheme. And games haven't been "innovative" on standard systems since 2000 or so. Name one PS3 or 360 game that actually innovated.
@gussie: E3 was disappointing this year because of the big announcement of the NX to come next year. This is also why the Virtual Console releases are slow. NX and the NX launch games are being developed now, to be revealed at E3 2016. Nintendo has to expend a lot of development effort on it, so no one has time to worry about new Wii U games or Virtual Console.
@Bowser908: Gears of War and CoD set the standard for shooters. LittleBigPlanet set level creation games to a whole new level. Plus 7th gen really pioneered online play.
I have said it before, just please let the NX be a gamecube type console. I dont think nintendo needs a new innovation for every console....mostly because nintendo doesn't do enough risks/innovations on the software side. It would be better for everyone if they keep the console, powerful yet simple.
Edit: Its getting really bad where the Iphone 6 games sometimes look better then a wii u game.....Nintendo and even sony and microsoft are at competition with phones now. It would be a sad day to see an Iphone more powerful then a dedicated console.
@WebHead: It isn't innovation though. First-person shooter games have existed since the 90s, and level creation wasn't a new concept with LittleBigPlanet. Online gaming existed for the Dreamcast in 2000, with Phantasy Star Online and others.
No innovation, just slight improvements on existing ideas. Innovation means bringing new and fresh experiences.

That may be true, but hardware innovation doesn't happen without refinement and iteration. The Wii Remote + is not perfect, nor is the Gamepad. Both of those controllers have room for improvement. Hell, even the Dualshock 2 style controller has room for improvement. Aiming with the right analog stick is incredibly clunky, and there could definitely be more buttons.

@Bowser908: but it innovated in CERTAIN AREAS. It raised the bar, became the new blueprint.
Look, I'm not saying NX controller should just be a rehashed GameCube controller. But I feel it needs to be simple like the Wii remote was. That's part of why wii was so successful.
@iKhan: I'm not sure what your point is. Nintendo makes hundreds of prototypes before the final hardware is released to the public, doing iteration and refinement internally. The final result Wii Remote or Gamepad didn't just pop out of someone's brain fully-formed. Nintendo does extensive research and testing before releasing these products, and rehashing them again and again would be disastrous for them.
@WebHead: This is like saying the PS4 is innovative because it "raised the bar", by being more powerful than the PS3. It didn't bring any new concepts, just a slightly updated console with some new games.
What I'm saying is, if Nintendo is never going to keep making Wii-likes. They're thinking further ahead.
