Topic: How to add elapsed time to Mario Maker 2 course?

My son has seen a timer at the top middle of screen on some people's courses in course world and wants to know how he can add this to his own courses in course maker.

It's a timer that starts at zero and counts up, in addition to the countdown timer on the side.

Can someone please tell me how he can add one of these timers?

He also asked if it was possible to add a character to his courses that has to be rescued? Is that possible and how?

Thank you!

You can't add characters to rescue in your levels unfortunately; there are some courses in the story mode that have characters to rescue, which is probably where your son got the idea, but it's not possible in user-created levels.

I'm not sure what the timer that you're referring to is. Do you know what the timer is supposed to be for?

Thanks for the info about rescues.

The timer is in the top middle of the screen on some of other peoples creations that he plays in Course World. It starts at zero and counts up (like 0:00:00). This is in addition to the number that counts down at the top side of the screen. He doesn't know what it does but wanted to know and for some reason add it to his own creations.

@johnaau Sorry for the late response - I couldn't think what this timer thing could be but I was playing the game just now and I realised maybe it's the timer that comes up on the Ninji speedrun levels? These are special courses made by Nintendo where players can compete to try and get the best time, so that timer is only shown on those levels, not on player-created ones. However, once you've uploaded a level and people have played it, the world record completion time for the level will be shown, so if your son just wants to see how quickly people can complete his levels he'll be able to do so using that.
