Hi all, recently I got a switch voucher since TOTK is going to be $70, I figured why not pay an extra couple dollars and get an additional game. Currently I'm very unsure what to get and looking for some help from some of you to decide. Link to voucher games below.
This 2nd game I'd like it to be something I don't have to think about much while playing and I don't want a big time committment to, such as; engrossing narratives, numerous long cutscenes, deep strategic gameplay mechanics (like fire emblem or triangle strategy), back to back puzzles, etc. Essentially the opposite end of the spectrum of games like TOTK, and the upcoming FFXVI.
Current candidates are:
Metroid Dread - Never played a metroid game before so really considering this one, just unsure how puzzley the game is. I think there's a decent amount of backtracking so I fear putting some progress into the game, not playing it for a month or so then getting lost or forgetting where I was going/left off.
Mario 3D World/Bowser's Fury - Not much to say about this one, just heard it's an excellent Mario game
Bayonetta 2 or 3 - I've never played a Bayonetta game before, so unsure if it's better to jump into 2 or 3. I'm somewhat aware of the game having deep combat systems, but I'm fine with more combo based combat versus expansive strategy combat.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity - This one seems like a no brainer with TOTK coming up soon. Just honestly pretty unfamiliar with the game and unsure if it's a good purchase.
Lesser considerations: Pokemon Arceus, Mario Party Superstars, Link's Awakening
If limited to the games you've listed, any of the Bayonetta games.
If you're open to suggestions, Luigi's Mansion 3 is my favorite Switch exclusive.
Switch Physical Collection - 1,322 games (as of November 7th, 2024)

@TraCuz- a game where you don't really have to think, well I started playing UNO, there is online play with it, but I'm not sure if you like card games
@Eagly I have not considered 3 Hopes, tbh I kind of wrote it off as a game I'd have to "think too much" about. Fire Emblem games have big stories and character/npc relationships right?
@TraCuz- actually I am waiting for it to be delivered but I have played the 2d metroid games and your concern is pretty valid. I had the same issue with Metroid Fusion.
@TraCuz- vary Lmao. But for real I think out of all the ones you talked about, hyrule warriors is fun but get old fast, Mario 3d world is well, Mario, and then you have bayo and Metroid, which are vary well liked games, and if you are looking for something different, those would be the ones to get.
Nintendo are like woman, You love them for whats on the inside, not the outside…you know what I mean! Luzlane best girl!

@TraCuz-
Going by your description on what you'd like your second game to be, I think Super Mario 3D World would be the best choice. Mario games are generally pretty easy-going, plus 3D World is a fantastic game that I'd recommend to anyone.
@Magician Only Bayonette 2 or 3 are available on the voucher list. Which do you recommend between the two?
Edit: I've never played a Luigi's mansion game, so I'm unfamiliar with how the gameplay loop is but definitely open to the recommendation
@TraCruz- Bayonetta 2 or 3. shrug Tough call. If you're hyper-concerned about game performance, 2 might be the better choice over 3. At the same time, 3 gives you more weapon and traversal variety.
As for Luigi's Mansion. It's a series of lite puzzle-solving combined with lite-combat. It's also one of the best looking games on the platform. If you enjoyed Ghostbusters the movie at any point in your life, I can't recommend it enough. The only negative is...the currency you collect in-game is borderline pointless.

@FawfulsFury An earlier comment mentioned AoC can get old fast, what do you think of this?
As far as story goes I don't mind watching a YT video on AoC, I'm more interested in mindless gameplay since TOTK and FFXVI will be using all my brain power
@TraCuz- AoCs The gameplay dose require a lot of strategy towards the later levels and it dose start to get very old. As for the story it’s not technically canon but that’s all I can say without spoiling it. I’m going to say 3d World over AoC
