Its taken up till recently for me to see them on shelves in my area. Hard to argue its not selling well. I wouldn't expect to see them on shelves much more than a month or so leading up to Christmas.
Yep! It recently outsold the PS4 for the month. It's consistently selling out at retailers. Only recently has Nintendo even come close to meeting demand.
ive been checking stock quite often at many retailers and the grey switch is available at most stores, offline and online now and the mario bundle is still in stock at most retailers, its been up for about a week now.
so its momentum is slowing for sure, it will be very interesting to see switch sales after this holiday season. early 2018 is when we will really have a picture of how well the console is doing. so yes it is selling well now, but after it hits 10 million(nintendos wiiu fanbase) will it continue to sell?
heres hoping it is a success
@8Darky It is definitely slowing but that is due to most Wii U and 3DS owners who are jumping on board early, finally being able to get hold of one. It will now be a case of how long it takes the others to make the move ver as well as how well Nintendo can attract new people to get the Switch.
The latter is the real challenge. Zelda and especially Mario should do a lot to help achieve that this holidays but the big question is what about next year and beyond? What games does Nintendo have up its sleeve to keep sales strong on a monthly basis and will they continue the same advertising drive we have seen this year?

@FragRed yes nintendo has to build an incredible library of games so it is the must have console/portable, 1st and 3rd party support of AAA games. and its ok if some are "scaled down" for the portable. i see it having great potential but i think the high price point and low stock is what has killed a bit of its momentum
when they launch the standalone switch w no dock for $100 less, i can see it selling out again and taking over the entire portable space, most likely when 3ds is completely dead
I've seen plenty of Switch ads online (and I have most tracking things turned off, so they don't just follow me around).
Maybe Nintendo has the advertising nouse to understand that most of the (somewhat) younger, more tech-savvy customers it's targeting are to be found online rather regularly watching live television.
If I were in charge of the advertising budget, I'd certainly be throwing more money into the online space than at (say) daytime Irish TV.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE i actually have seen quite a few switch ads on tv and online, probably around 1 a month, which is surprising because i dont remember seeing a nintendo commercial in my life untill then(im 35 in canada)
so they are advertising the switch more than anything i have ever seen, trying to get it into the public hivemind. its yet to be seen if that matters at all tho.
i think switch was going to sell 10 or 20million just because nintendo fans, and another 10million because its a nintendo portable. after that who knows if it will catch fire like the wii or ds. if its around for 7 or 8 years and gets a hefty price cut and multiple revisions like the 3ds, i could see it being around 50million
i do have doubts because its way too expensive right now, but im optimistic about nintendo these days and with a price cut(like the early 3ds) it could do really well

I predict they will be easy to get a hold of for about another 1-1.5 months then will be sold out everywhere before christmas... I am definitely going to pick mine up before that happens.
@8Darky Like I said, not really, because the dock isn't that expensive. You'd be looking at changing the entire system if you want to drop the price by $100 right now.
@8Darky Maybe in one or two years from now when the parts are cheaper, but there's no reason to drop the price right now. And they're not dropping the dock, because there's no point in doing so.
If they shipped the console without the Joy-Con straps, maybe they could lop another $100-$200 off the price.
To be less facetious, if you want a Switch without a dock, buy the Switch, and sell the dock. Pre-owned ones are currently going for around $70-80 on eBay. I'm not sure how successful offers are at that price point are, but you may be able to sell one for over $50, which is a sizeable amount of money back. This is a much bigger saving than you'd get if Nintendo sold a 'Dock-Free Switch', as the thing isn't worth anywhere near $50 (let alone $80) to begin with. Like official Apple accessories, it's been massively overpriced. You may as well take advantage of the hugely inflated price of a standalone Dock by getting one bundled with the Switch and selling it.
@Octane of course they wont drop the price untill they have to, and i can see a reason for the switch being sold without a dock, its a lower price and focused on the portable market.
and im in canada so my prices are higher here. $100 cad =about $75 usd.
