It's a hard game to get into because it's SO old school in design. It feels more at home if you remember the early text based type of games on PC, etc. It's weird for sure, yet also fast action. It's limited niche appeal coupled by releasing alongside Zelda made it easy to quickly forget, which is a shame for a game that couldh ave had a bigger spotlight.
I'm not sure how much time I have into it at the moment, but I'm working on unlocking my second character which I believe is the wrestler. I'm kind of stuck on the second group of bosses (three skeleton knights).

I've just started playing this (about 2 hours in) and can see that there's an awful lot that I'm not getting (including inventory and spell use), but I'm really loving it
@zitpig yeah, that's how I felt too. Basically, the system is tricky and takes some getting used to. Also, you'll get access to new equipment and magic that will make your journey easier.
Just keep playing! I did and I can now finish maps and I've now unlocked 3 characters.

I am. Iam
I've started using some magic - the soul gem starter, but I'm not even sure how to access the others - yet. I've started "mastering" the back hit too. I've killed two skeleton bosses (in separate games), but I'm sure that I could be making life easier for myself - somehow!!
But, as many times as I've died, I still love the game and keep going back for more. Sometimes I earn 90 souls, sometime 1!
This one is destined or has already become an overlooked gem on the Nintendo Switch. Really must get back to playing it, glad to see the game has had a couple of patches over the past few months too. Activity log fixed π
P.S. Still finding the game hard though βΊοΈ

I loved this game, but it's just so random. As i stated above, sometimes I can get right the way through to the third+ boss then other times I get wiped out within the first couple of levels. There's no natural progression.
I played the game for far longer than I should have and unlocked a wealth of icons (that seemed to have no real purppose) and a couple of characters, but the game still remains very uneven. It's a real shame, as it's a great game.
@Lroy I'm onto the sixth boss, yes it's extremely tough but an amazing game. Keep playing and unlocking items and spells, always try and keep money to buy spells. Don't use spell or item gamblers at all I find I usually lose. Mix spells for different effects fire + lightning = boom, fire + water = steam( slows them down). Speed is key and make sure you match hits with stamina blocks. Use backstabbing when you can. With any rouguelike just keep playing keep unlocking, try and get a good build and run together. The more you play the more you learn as well.
