@GrailUK I kinda have the same opinion, I never was crazy about GTA V, nor do I even have it. So this'll be the chance Rockstar has to... get people like me buying their game. Not that they care seeing as how they're releasing it for the 582nd time.
Even though I am a big retro gamer, I will worn you that the controls have dated quite a bit on these. Graphics don't really bother me, just find them a bit clunky to play. Still, you soon get used to it I guess.
Duly noted, thanks! I'm no retro gamer by any stretch of the imagination so I'm glad for the warning. One of the oldest games I've played with decent controls has got to be Super Mario 64. Final Fantasy X wasn't that bad either.
I take it you've seen No Time to Die then? Shaken or stirred by what you saw?
Currently playing:
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
Persona 4 Golden
Dragon Quest XI S
F1 23
Xenoblade Chronicles 2
I just hope they do a decent job with these and put lots of effort into these and don't remove too much from the games.
They already did HD ports of these games and they were pretty dodgy to be honest, with half the music missing, missing textures/graphical effects and new bugs and glitches that weren't present in the original releases.
Frankly, I’d rather they release each game individually if music licensing is an issue, just as I would have overwhelmingly preferred to buy Daria in individual season sets with all of the music intact rather than a complete series budget release with some of the worst music I’ve heard in a TV show.

Insta buy for me. Love both GTA 3 and Vice City. Was never a fan of San Andreas but I'd still happily play through all 3 of these again on a Nintendo console.
I saw on a website that it might come out around the 7th of december. but there is no official releasedate yet.
Have a nice day. Voiceactor: The Pirates! (Sony/Aardman 2012) - The Passion: A Brickfilm (Neema 2019) - The Torchlighters: The Story of John Newton (Vision Video 2022)

I left the cinema angry. Whatever happened to the fun and escapism in this franchise?
I was going to definitely get it on Switch but seeing the visual improvements I'm thinking I might get it on PC. Waiting to see performance on the Switch before I make up my mind. I'm going to assume that the Switch version will be compromised in some way given the level of visual improvement. But at the same time, portable Vice City......

Can't really make up my mind as to whether I like the remasters or not. Even at the time, the GTA games (of this trilogy) were never exactly the prettiest of games, it was more about their scale than anything else - although you gotta love those Vice City vibes.
This presents an interesting problem because completely overhauling the games to make them look truly modern would be incredible but probably pretty resource intensive - especially San Andreas. Rockstar probably have the resources to pull this off, but instead they gave this away to Grove Street Games, which it appears no one has heard of.
GSG have sort of papered over the cracks with a sort of cartoony overlay filter over the top of everything and I can't really work out if this is just crappy or ingenious economics. There is a thin line when doing a remaster when it comes to retaining the style, feel, spirit etc of the original text and I feel this cartoony approach definitely finds ways of embracing some of the quirks that came from the original graphics limitations of the time and make them into their own vibe. On the other hand, given Rockstar have basically unlimited resources thanks to GTA Online, giving this to some third party studio and getting just a cartoony overhaul kinda feels like the most low effort approach they could have done with this, next to just not putting in any effort at all.
And it is a shame, as I do think some parts of the remasters look really good. The updated textures, the tweaks to environments to make them look more like real places, the updated draw distances etc. Maybe most of all the lighting overhaul is utterly transformative in places. But all of this stuff is happening in the background, while the weird cartoony uncanny valley plays out centre stage, and it is just hard to really focus on what they are doing well here. At least for me.

I mean... it's not like they look like modern games now. Sure they look nicer, but it doesn't look particularly like they should stretch any modern hardware.
You guys had me at blood and semen.
What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?
The way the GTA Trilogy page looks on eshop on the Switch, it looks like they could/may also sell each of the Grand Theft Auto games individually at some point. Each game has a DLC page place holder the Trilogy page.
Forgive me if this isn't news. @Damo I'll tag you just in case. No need to reply.
@WoomyNNYes : The games are flagged separately as part of a bundle, not as DLC. Purchasing the bundle should generate a separate icon for each game (as should a best-case-scenario cartridge).
