@FishyS Yeah I pretty much barrelled (lol) through the majority of the main campaign; in hindsight I probably should have gone back and done a few more sidequests, but I felt like I was getting to the end by that point and was pretty keen to wrap it up.
Metal Gear Solid 2. Played for about 2 hours and it was such a frustrating time. Wonky controls, convoluted sections, etc. I got so tired of trying the same sections over and over and just said forget it. The first game was OK, but i didn't have the patience to see this one through.
@NintendoByNature Metal Gear Solid 2 was just a let down period after playing the first one. It made no sense why they didnt make Snake the main character and why replace him with Raiden? Such a disappointed. Definitely give 3 a shot though probably the best game in the series.

@NintendoByNature I have heard good things about the remaster. I havent played version yet last one I played was the 3DS one years ago which was solid (no pun intended).

I recently stopped playing Super Mario 3D World somewhere in World 3. Lots of nice ideas, but the presence of a timer and time constraint in a game that encourages exploration did not sit well with me. That, and the fact that I only play solo limited my enjoyment of the game.
Shadow the Hedgehog for the original Xbox. I finished it fully back in the day and remember having a good time with it but going back to it now years later and my God I realise just how much it sucks. It was my guilty pleasure back then but today? not so much even though admittedly I still do like being bad and filling up the dark gauge just to hear him say "death to all who oppose me"

Once you unlock the Stealth Camouflage for both characters (Snake and Raiden) I found the game far more enjoyable personally. Just sneak up behind enemy soldiers and hold them up so they drop their dog tag. Once you collect enough you unlock the Stealth.
Then again, I might jump back into it. Like a couple of other RetroWare titles, the jumping just feels unnecessarily weighty & clunky just like in Prison City. AVGN feels like he's hopping around in metal pants with a ball & chain strapped to each ankle. This isn't Donkey Kong, It's the AVGN for crying out loud. Plus, you can't jump any time you want to while sliding like you can in lets say Mega Man 3. I feel like I'm constantly fighting twith the controls.
Ultimately, it plays like a much worse controlling classic mega man game, while granting you Castlevania-like Sub-weapons. Graphics are very nice, the soundtrack is really well done(Airworld Springs to mind), there's obviously some fun nods & characters peeled right out of AVGN, while also playing homage to older retro titles like Dr. Jeckyl & Mr Hyde, but the controls totally hamper the experience. Specifically the feel of the jumps and not being able to jump while sliding until the slide is finished animating.
And really, this game is tougher than most of the classic 8-Bit MM games, but it's made even harder with the less intuitive controls at your disposal. Bummer! It's almost like the devs' purposely made the game cheap at times to frustrurate gamers so they'd react the exact same way as AVGN.
Also, DOOM 64 (NS)
Probably one of the best opimized Boomer Shooters on NS, but if you're a fan of Yawn/Gyro controls like i am than you're going to be really disappointed with this one in particular(Including Duke Nukem 3D World Tour) when using the Pro Controller...Even if you crank up the Gyro/Motion sensitivity they're just not responsive enough nor cover enough ground. They feel sloppy compared to the tight precision and speed you get with the latest DOOM 1+2 update once fine tuned in the settings. It's Night and day. Wish they'd patch this one so you could get Yawn Gyro every bit as good as the former, because this version of D64 I find is way more compelling than 1+2. It's got more punch to the gameplay, and i like it's darker moodier tone.
Could of sworn that the gyro/yawn sensitivity was noticeably better using the Joy-Con's paired with the traditional controller shelll grip. Might have to try that again, even though I'll have to resort back to crappier analog sticks, tiny cheap buttons and the bottom right stick getting in the way every time i reach and press the B button. HD Rumble also feels a bit more impactful with the JCN's too.
Looks like I'll be dropping Tetris Effect: Connected. Not because it's a bad game, but because we've had quite a few ritual events where we just didn't meet the goal. The most recent one we had, we didn't get to 100%, unfortunately. (To get a special avatar, it must be 100%.) Maybe because there haven't been too many players...? I kept getting duplicate avatars while I played too, but I did at least get one new one, which is the rainbow snowflake. I did happen to get a new personal best in the sprint mode too. But yeah... I think it is a good game for sure, but I'll be taking a break from it.

Ask if you want to be Switch friends with me, but I'd like to know you first. Thanks! ❤️
What an absolute nothing of a Sonic game. Not strictly terrible (and tbh I think people are a bit harsh on the boss fights)...but I just didn't find myself enjoying it. It just adds nothing to the series and had me wishing I was playing 3+K, Mania, or even Advance 1/2.
Tonic Trouble.
I gave it a good try as one I missed back in the N64 days. There were parts I enjoyed, but the awkward mind of it's own camera and sluggish pace were too frustrating. Combat, such as it was, with a stick or pea shooter were akward and mostly resulted in you getting hurt. I might have pushed through, but after my 3rd go around on the second level—where you need to collect six maguffins on each to progress—I just couldn’t bring myself to keep going when I only found 5.
I adore the atmosphere and a lot of the visual design, but it's so tedious to play. The map system starting out as entirely and utterly useless for such a maze-like game just isn't fun, for one, and combined with the death penalty system just is too much. Much like Hollow Knight it's a game I want to love, but I can't
@OmnitronVariant If you are playing on PC I can really recommend getting some mods for it depending on what you need :0 I ended up adoring it because I can pretty much mod it to my needs... (such as having health regen, damage can't go above 1 mask, magnet and that pin that shows where you are being always active, able to just change skill and stuff while not on bench, and so on. (There's even something that can help you avoid much of the runbacks if you died to a boss as well )
@darkfenrir I got it on Switch 2. But I think if I had to mod the game that much to enjoy it, it just isn't for me. I can go play so many other games instead.
Inspired by Donkey Kong 3. Yet the levels tend to over stay their welcome, the game is just too long which doesn't suit the DK3-like Arcadey gameplay mechanics, and the soundtrack just left me feeling cold. pretty ameture actually.
I like the idea of Vampire Children guarding their fathers farm while he's out on vacation, from insects & other baddies. And it does exapand on the DK3 formula by throwing in different weapons, more robust, varried and funkier location/level design vs the simple early 80's point racker it's inspired by, but eh. i might give it another chance. I'm just not feeling it right now.
Silver Bullet - (NS)
There's a great game in there, that riffs off Wild Guns, but unfortunately Stick aiming does not work for this type of game at all. The Wii Remotes pointer aiming(With a sensor bar) and then using the nunchuck to move & dash with your character would of absolutely saved this. Giving you that much needed pin point precision and fluidity that you just can't get with stick aiming.
I'll give credit where it's do and that's the art style, presentation and sheer variety at play. It's pretty cool and is of higher quality than Flora & Fang, but unfortunately completely tarnished due to the archiac control scheme. No modern platform can save it(No sensor bar, no dice), unless it gets a Quest 3 port which obviously isn't hapenning.
Fantasian Neo Dimension
I think it is a good and enjoyable mobile game, but it is far from a masterpiece like Final Fantasy VII-X. Even Lost Odyssey is far better. I just feel no love for this game, because it feels so much like whatever. At least the graphics are good, right?
