I'm fond of the art from FE7 to PoR. RD is good, but it has always looked slightly "off" to me. Awakening's designs are too fanservicey and weird (exaggerated proportions, armor shapes, and impractical over-embellishments). Also, all pointy-hatted mages can go join the stupid hat club and be set aflame.

So about artstyles, what's your favorite Fire Emblem artstyle?
I personally like Kozumi-san's art for Awakening and Fates. But I also like the art used in Holy War as well.
Honestly, I love the new art style seen in Awakening and Fates. That artist is truly talented, I just love the artstyle so much!
But I like all of them. The GBA games have a very simple and basic charm, but I'd have to say I like Radiant Dawn second best. The most recognizable though has to be the SNES entries. Tear Ring Saga seems to use the exact same style actually (man I need to play that game)
Psalms 22:16 (1,000 yrs before Christ)
They pierced My hands and feet
Isaiah 53:5 (700 yrs before Christ)
He was pierced for our transgressions
@DarthNocturnal: I hadn't seen those before. Seems semi-conical pointy hats/hoods with cloaks (not the witch hat of Awakening) have a history in the series. Those look neat. Those, goofy witch hats though...

Tellius.
The builds of character's were good with builds ranging from skinny, feminine, to muscle, to fat. The costume designs were also neat, and fit the classes.
I'll take Gba as a second as it's got somewhat the same, but more early 00's anime-esq. It's got the best animation, too.
Wavedashes behind you Got some of dat Maylay?

I'll agree that some designs like Cherche are a bit off, but Even those designs never have exaggerated proportions.
Compared to Fates though, Awakening's style has more variety. The ones in Fates are just off and didn't feel natural to me. By Fates, I'm talking about Birthright alone as Conquest has that same charm as Awakening.
My favourite artstyle is from FE7, those designs were really varied and the armor looked like something a character would wear while traveling, while the art I dislike the most is from the original games. Found the characters' design a bit... meh. Marth's design has never been interesting to me.
Awakening and Fates art is still nice, but there are moments when it gets a bit too fanservicey for my tastes, like both royal big sisters.
Does anybody have an idea of what reason Shouzou Kaga left Nintendo in the first place?
That always bothered me.......the way it sounds like, if he got tired of making more FE games, then its quite similar to Masahiro Sakurai's reason of quitting Hal.
Meanwhile, who do you think can win here? Xander VS Ryoma.
Xander obviously, cause his defenses and resistances are better than Ryoma's. The only reason Ryoma will win for many is because of how buffed he really is in Birthright.....I'm dead serious here. Once Ryoma shows up, there's really no reason to use other units besides Corrin for the final boss.
Who wins?
Who is the useful one?
Who has the best skills?
My pick is Xander. He just has solid defense and good resistance, has strong attacks and his skills are useful that they don't need skill stats to make them happen.
Ryoma on the other hand is an over buffed swordmaster that there really is no reason to even think of getting other skills. He's nowhere as balanced as Camilla who besides low luck is well balanced and she has awesome list of skills. If Ryoma's speed, skill and luck were on the same level as Hana, Xander can easily beat him.
....you know I've been wondering......to those of you who played fates, do you see yourselves getting into Awakening?
I myself don't know. I mean, obviously Awakening is better than Birthright but considering how much fun I had with Conquest, I just don't know. I mean, I love Awakening and all but still........makes you wonder.
