I did look into that a while ago. The only problem is that the quality is extremely varied. Some backgrounds look incredible, as if they were created in HD from the start. Others look like the AI had stroke and just vomited out pixels.
It was a while ago I checked it out though. Maybe it's improved since then?
@Dezzy huh I didn't know about the fact there's some that looks ugly as sin. Hopefully they do improve those then... (I replayed ff9 before this mod happens so I kinda is more relaying on the information I got from articles)
Yeah, they selectively use all of the backgrounds that look awesome for their media promotions. That one of the Dwarf Village on the main site is WAYYY better than most though. Most don't look anywhere near that good.
@Zeldafan79 good thing i got the Deluxe edition for free on amazon because im a prime member and when i was living in CA they where frickin charging me for shipping all this time!
I dunno, I understood the appeal of using various characters, so I put it above VI, where I'd be more than happy to not use a 1/3 of the cast in battle ever.
I'll be playing that as soon as it arrives for my Switch Lite, too, @NintendoByNature .... Ordered physical, so it might be a day or 2 later than usual but I'll post about it!
Cool, do keep us posted, @JoeDiddley!
@BruceCM yea I'll be playing it as soon as i can get my hands on it. Wal-Mart out here discounts their games. So it a game is normally $50, itll be around $42 at Wal-Mart. So if I can make it out there Friday, I'm grabbing it!
@BruceCM so I didn’t get far...stuck on Ahriman! I get swamped every time he creates multiple versions of himself. He had six on me last attempt! Any hot tips?
@RR529 - thanks for that. I’m trying FFX as a jumping off point mainly as it seems to be a transitional title, a step into the modern era but with turn based gameplay intact.
@BruceCM I played the first 2 hours this morning, I’ve just met Yuna so it’s still early to get an impression of what the game will actually be like based on the tutorial stage.
Especially in the first hour it’s a strange comparison but the all the cut scenes transforming into on rails dynamic set pieces reminded me of Bayonetta - just with turn based gameplay (which is a compliment).
But then the games pace slowed in the second hour. But the light puzzling reminded me a little of the first Bayonetta too.
The pace picks up again soon, @JoeDiddley ....
The replicas are weak, so kill them ASAP, @scoobdoo! Cura & so on work against them, too, so that can help
Because of all the FF7R hype & stopping by this thread, I've just bought FFIX on a whim.
I have a mixed history with Final Fantasy (I loved X and liked IV, even though it took me a couple tries to actually finish the latter, though I never got on with I & II: Dawn of Souls and XII back in the day. Got to the final dungeon in II, though), so I hope I made a good choice.
I want to go into VII fresh with the remake & I hear mixed things about VIII, so I figured IX would be the best choice (pretty traditional, and it still looks nice enough in the screenshots).
