I left a reply in the other thread, but basically the two feel very different. Rune Factory is very segmented with adventure/combat and farming, while Fantasy Life i is more gameplay focused with various jobs and an addictive loop where you're always leveling up- combat is more simple but really fun.
I think you'd like it. Fantasy Life i is definitely the more addictive game of the two.

He was pierced for our transgressions
Started playing this again, and can't seem to put it down now. Had a separate save file on Switch Lite OLED, but playing on NS2 in what seems to be 4k 60fps (at least 1440p) is a noticeable step up. Could be the art style too, as games like this do appear much sharper than they are at times.
But ya, this game is 🔥 and it has an on-cart release from Asia, in English.
I haven't progressed that far into the game because I've been playing Legends: Z-A lately. But I think it's pretty annoying the NPCs don't refer to you with male pronouns if you're a male. I read that they do slip up a little bit and refer to you as male in dialogue, which I don't understand why that is.
I'm sorry to say this game misled me in its advertisement: I looked up footage of it before I bought it and I thought it was going to be the way I imagined it from the gender and voice selection at the start of the game to some of the boy pronoun references in the dialogue.
Yet, after all the updates for the game that have been given out, there has yet to be a change made to what NPCs refer to you as if you're a male (as far as I'm aware, that is. I've following Nintendo Life).
@Anti-Matter I know you really like the game. Can I ask how often the NPCs and characters use male pronouns if you're a boy? Since you're from Singapore, you may not be able to give me an answer if you have played the game in a language not English, (which is what I played in,) but I would appreciate any help I can get from you. Same with anyone else that wants to clarify anything with me about this question I ask.

I am from Indonesia (Surabaya, East Java precisely). 🇮🇩
I don't really remember if the NPC will call me as a boy or girl.
I think the game has been designed neutrally so it will suitable to call any kind of gender choice from the player.
Oh, after I checked the game designed to call player with they / them regardless the gender choice you choose.
@Anti-Matter I read that it was like that too. As well as the game, again, slipping up and referring you as a male now and again.
Did you play it in English too? No problem if you didn't.
Guess I'll have to contact Level 5 and see if they can do anything to help me. Bumper though.
