DOOM 64 has received a new peer-reviewed classification in Australia, all but confirming that it is in fact coming to consoles shortly.
The fact that it has received a traditional peer-reviewed classification will also allow it to be released as a standalone physical title, though this is doubtful and is likely to have been in order to allow it for release on PS4 (which has not yet adopted IARC and demands traditional peer-reviewed classifications).
Also of note is that the game has received a more lenient M rating for "Horror themes and violence" compared to its original 1997 rating of MA15+ for "High level animated violence". The original DOOM games retain their original MA15+ ratings. It is not unusual for games to receive more lenient (or in some cases harsher) ratings years later when perceptions of impact may change, and should not be taken to imply that the game has been cut in any way (though Bethesda's port of DOOM II censored the Wolfenstein-themed secret levels internationally).
