Looking forward to this, but bummed Amazon isn't doing release day shipping on it. My game isn't due to arrive until the 14th. Can't stand the waiting!
@MarcelRguez Oh that's exactly what I meant - why are they only showing us hand-held? I'll wait and see. Typically I do only pre-order Nintendo games - because the quality is more or less guaranteed and the price is often the best it will ever be.
The optimist in me says it's because they're almost in disbelief themselves going "look, we actually got this running on a handheld! Look at it!"
I wish the box looked more like that. The current one looks too much like the cover art for the 1993 original, which makes it look like a port of that game, especially so considering that they share the same name.
I think that’s the point. Since isn’t it a reboot of the game?
I've got this game installed on my Xbox One and recently replayed it.
I'm currently listening to the soundtrack that I recently bought.
Why, therefore, am I hovering over the purchase button on the eshop? I think the lure of playing this in handheld mode whilst laying in bed or when the wife has some dross on TV is too much to resist.

When did you preorder. I preordered on the 30th of september, and they already have my copy. Scheduled to be shipped on the 9th to arrive on the 10th.
@sillygostly Thats basically why I was so happy when I saw the Switch version's cover. Last year's release on other platforms was bog standard minor variation of close up of armoured soldier no. 347-B in serious pose Version F.
This uses the reversible cover of badass Marine blasting through an army of hellspawn. Basically the cover shows what you're gonna be doing. And it looks blood curdingly glorious!
Decided to cancel my preorder, I completed it not long ago on PC, so other than the novelty I would be wasting my money. Plus LA Noire comes out in a few days and I haven’t played that in years, also just bought a 4k TV so pretty short for cash haha.
I'm considering picking it up for the novelty of having it on the Switch, but I may wait a bit. Skyrim vr and LA Noire deserve more of my attention than Doom since I've beaten it/platinumed it before
I have this game pre-ordered... Just hope Amazon doesn't screw this up like they did with anyone who ordered an Xbox One X, because this is being delivered to my work address so I wouldn't receive it until Monday if they do.

@Operative2-0 It’s mad how many games are coming out almost at the same time on Switch, Doom, LA Noire and Skyrim. I think if they could have managed 60fps then I would have bought Doom, but with such a fast paced game it could feel a bit weird for me as I’m used to playing it at 60fps. Still awesome that it’s being released on Switch though.
@Hughesy Totally agree. If you'd told me that the NX was gonna receive DOOM, Skyrim, and LA Noire in the same week I would have laughed myself to death. I'm so glad to be so wrong
It's hard to get over how good this will look on the Switch tablet.
Like... Nintendo went from 240p jaggies on the 3DS to THIS. While it's only moderately more powerful than the Wii U as a home console, as a handheld, it's like Nintendo vaulted over an entire hardware generation in one go.

Mmm, gameplay looks great. I actually didn't believe it was the Switch Version at first. I have it on PC but never beat it because of various reasons. Definitely will be picking this up, and thanks Bethesda for not gimping us Nintendo fans.
People might think I'm childish for my picture, and I am.
Favorite games: Super Mario Odyssey, Super Metroid, Mass Effect 2, Red Dead Redemption, and Sonic Generations
If you like Kirby, then you are a person I can trust.
@MegaTen Yep. Especially if you consider the PS TV and how hybrid-esque it is to play handheld games on a unit that only displays on the TV. And Remote Play, which, even if it doesn't work well for me, is still an interesting idea, and also hybrid-esque. The Switch is basically what the Vita AND the Wii U both should have been, weirdly enough.
