With every new tangent this thread goes into, it just further reinforces my belief that humans are effing idiots.
Isn't this an effing DOOM thread?
Funny how easy a now 37 page thread can get off topic. Then you have the great lock and key moderator that will close something and tell you to put your comment in another long thread. Just so it can get lost.
But seriously. Back to Doom and stuff. Five more days!
Really can't wait to play it. I'm going to be getting it as a birthday gift on the 12th. The last Doom I played was the Mega 32x version and if my memory serves me correctly I got that one for my birthday too. I wonder if the review embargo will lift before release date?
5 more days... wow. I can't believe this game is coming to Switch. And Wolfenstein 2. Those were some really great wins. There's a lot of great third-party games out there and I know this is just a few, but it fills a genre that was desperately needed on Switch.
And to be honest I really don't feel like Call of Duty would have cut it. But DOOM and Wolfenstein? Ya. Those'll do. The only other FPS I would have liked to see on Switch would have been Titanfall 2. I know the campaign is short but it's really good. But it's got more of a multiplayer focus where as these are more single player focused.

I've ignored Call of Duty since Modern Warfare 2, and I won't stop now. DOOM and Wolfenstein are pretty awesome properties, though, and their single-player focus jives well with a console you can play anywhere.

@Hyrule I am stoked too. Pretty amazing what Panic Button has accomplished.
If there is one episode of Digital Foundry I'm looking forward to, it's the one that will take a closer look at this version. I'm a bit of a geek in that respect.
When we look at Vulkan support for previous id Tech, we have this (according to Wikipedia):
Quake Engine - Vulkan support was added in July 2016
id Tech 3 - Vulkan support was added in May 2017
id Tech 4 - Vulkan support was added in August 2017
Now, bring over the classics I'd say!
Hehe I've been raving about it at work. One off the other guys has a Switch and he is waiting to play my copy of Doom since he broke as **** this month. haha. I haven't played doom probably since the N64, but definitely hyped for this as well. I've spent probably over £200 on Switch games this month. Always knew November was going to be beastly on my bank balance.
I feel your financial pain. Everyone's really. Trust me I'm getting hit harder than most. You don't even want to know the dollar amount for my Oct-Jan, trust me.
My friend at work is actually getting DOOM on Switch around Christmas, which surprised me. I mean, he's a big Xbox gamer, figured he'd buy it there if he wanted it. But then again he's super stoked for Rocket League, which was the game he swore he'd buy a Switch for if they ever announced. Then came e3 and there it was.

@JaxonH man I’m the same with Doom as your buddy. I grew up Nintendo with NES to N64. Was excited about what was then being called the Dolphin but then got Xbox. Ever since 2001 I’ve been mostly playing Xbox. I can get this game so cheap on Xbox One right now. But the Switch! I don’t see why not.
I've just cancelled my pre-order. It got the point where I needed to see more than off screen footage of the hand-held mode to give me confidence. In fact the abundance of the fore-mentioned footage got me wondering what they were trying to hide.
I wish the box looked more like that. The current one looks too much like the cover art for the 1993 original, which makes it look like a port of that game, especially so considering that they share the same name.
Porygon did nothing wrong.

I wouldn't say that, I just think the amount of people that actually think it'd be a port of the original is a vast minority that Nintendo/Bethesda shouldn't worry about anyway. I actually enjoy this boxart more. It certainly stands out
Take it being Bethesda we're not expecting any reviews? It's less than £36 on the South African eshop but until that last doubt about how it runs is cleared up I'll keep my cart preorder.
@MarcelRguez Oh that's exactly what I meant - why are they only showing us hand-held? I'll wait and see. Typically I do only pre-order Nintendo games - because the quality is more or less guaranteed and the price is often the best it will ever be.
