I've double dipped twice on switch (Ys 8 and Shantae 1/2) mostly because though I loved them on my vita it was just more convenient on switch.

It very much depends. Rocket League, Chicken Horse (and soon Speedrunner) I own on both PC/Switch. I usually play online with friends in those games on PC since not all my friends own the Switch, while local play is for Switch.

As for other games, I own Mario Kart 8 DX (I couldn't get a Switch at launch without it bundled, so I went with it.) and the Wii U original. I'll probably be getting Hyrule Warriors, but since I never played any of the 3DS content it's pretty well worth it.

I own Undertale on PC/Switch. Bayonetta 1/2 on both Wii U and Switch, TWEWY on DS/Switch, and Shovel Knight on Wii U/Switch, those are probably my few true double dips. Oh and I own the original Mighty Switch Force on 3DS, and the full collection on Switch, same for the Mutant Mudds collection versus the original. I wanted to play the rest of the series, no point playing them piecemeal.

And then I had Okami Wii/Switch. I originally ignored it due to not being able to get the motion controls to work, but I loved Okamiden so I gave it a second shot here.

Oh, and finally I've gotten several games through Humble Bundles that I already had on Switch, though in those cases it was more I was after other games in the package.

So looking it over... I guess the answer is yes, a lot, but with a few exceptions for my favorite games it's always for good reason.

I remember when namco released soul calibur 2 on gamecube ,PS2 and xbox. Each had a different "special guest " .link was in the gamecube one, same was done for the PS2 and xbox they had some "special guest" . So what I mean is, if it is a games like this then yes I'd buy the same game on different consoles

I own way too many games on multiple platforms. I've got over a dozen fighters on at least two platforms. A lot of KOF titles, a lot of Tekken titles, a lot of Street Fighter titles, the last two BB games, GG XRD, Skull Girls, DBFZ, etc. Really loving recent ARPG ports on the Switch like Torchlight 2 and Diablo 3. Have plans to pick up Divinity soon and am probably gonna also double dip on at least one or two of the upcoming D&D remasters (Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale and Planescape Torment have my attention). Probably own Skyrim on three or four platforms at this point.

Not to mention games I own on an old console and also have emulations for other consoles or the PC like SSBM or Double Dash.

And too many indies to count.

I double dip if it's a game I really like or if it gets a portable version. I mainly prioritize my PC and PS4 first due to those getting games I genuinely want to play. If the Switch gets a game I want I buy it there so I can play it anywhere (now if they would just release Prey 2017 or any of the Dishonored games on Switch I'd be a happy camper... Bioshock only goes so long)

I'll repurchase games on Switch if there's a significant amount of extra content and/or they're better played in handheld mode (as with MK8D, Tokyo Mirage Sessions, and SM3DW), but, in general, I'm not huge into double-dipping, as it feels like a waste of money.

I'll also repurchase versions of games I already own if they're cheap and more convenient. Like, I bought Tomb Raider DE on PS4 even though I also own it on PC because it was going for $3 and I'm more likely to play it on there. Ditto with 2064: ROM on Switch, which was a similarly low price.

With that said, if you're unlikely to play Spyro on PS4 as is and/or would just enjoy it more on Switch, then I'd say go for it.

I try to avoid re-buying games whenever I can nowadays. Unless you count games on SNES Classic I already had somewhere, I think the only game that I already had where I've bought a new version in the past like 5+ years has been the 3D version of Kirby's Adventure.

Not the biggest fan of double dipping as I keep my past consoles. I felt a bit dirty buying Mario 3D all-stars but I justified it to myself because I don’t own Galaxy on the Wii. Feel sorry for my 64 and GameCube counterparts because they’ve been made redundant now. Maybe I should have just bought the Wii version of Galaxy instead.

Doubt I’ll be buying Skyward sword unless reviews are really good. If I do, I’ll probably end up selling the Wii version.

Long story short, I only like to own one version of a game, preferably the best, definitive edition, if the price is right.

I've owned Final Fantasy 6 on SNES, PS1, GBA and then got it on SNES Mini as well. So... uhmm...

I Will do if I see something cheap in a sale.

Intend not to buy any of the wii-U ports on Switch though, it grudges me paying full price again when I supported Nintendo through their bad times.
I did cave and get 2 copies of MK8D for us, but made sure I got them pre owned so Nintendo didn't get any money from the sale - petty I know but it was on principle.

That's a tricky question. For the most part: No. I don't see any reason to buy a game on two seperate systems. There are only two games that I've bought on two seperate platforms but both of these times these versions were different from one and other. For example, while Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter DS and Wii games have the same name the story is unique between versions.

However, I have to state that I don't own that many different consoles. Because of this, there aren't many games that I can really buy multiple versions off. I never owned a Wii U for example so all of those game ports, like MK8D, are 'new' games to me.

I still have all my old consoles so I almost never buy the same game twice. Even full remakes like Link's Awakening and Pokémon Diamond/Pearl don't usually interest me if I've played the original game before. I do have Mario Kart 8 and Xenoblade Chronicles on Switch as well as the original versions though. (MK8 Deluxe was a surprise gift, and Xenoblade I asked for as a Christmas present because I wanted to give the game another chance after not finishing it on Wii and I thought I'd be more likely to be able to finish it thanks to the improvements in the Switch version.)

I've bought multiple versions of countless games! I also still have my Nes, Snes, N64, Gamecube, Wii and yes even Wii U. Oh and my 3DS still gets love too. Basically if i really really really really love a game then yeah I'll buy another copy! Especially if it's an awesome well done remake or if it's upgraded with new features or additions that make an already sweet game even sweeter!

As I think about it, I feel as though I've bought Streets of Rage 2 (or Sega compilations specifically for Streets or Rage 2), about half a dozen times? The original release on Genesis, the individual release for XBLA on 360, the Sega Ultimate Collection on PS3, the 3D version on 3DS, the Sega Classics Collection on Switch. I love that game with a passion.

@Magician there are some games I will buy for every system it comes out on it seems. Streets of Rage 1 and 2 and Dig Dug are games I think I have owned on every system I have that has offered them.

I've only done it once and it was with Breath of the Wild, since I didn't want to dig out my Wii U and play it again. I might buy 3D World again for switch, since I like the game as well, but don't want to dig my Wii U out to play it.

I double dip less now. If it a game I think can run on Switch, I wait a year. If I am wrong, I get it cheaper. Win-Win

I’m buying more retro collections on Switch though cuz of the hybrid nature.
